seems to be the class of the bunch
|Posted .We only decided on the Honeywell after reading the many positive reviews other units like LG did NOT have. Don't need A/C all the time in the NE but is great to have for the couple months it gets humid and hot. Any one of these units might take some McGivering to get the exhaust vented out of non-standard windows so for some having a professionally installed window unit might be the choice but this 1200 btu unit is basically as good as two of those smaller window units. Simple to operate, only need to empty it every 3-4 days, no dribble on our wood floors. very happy.

Perfect emergency cooling tool
|Posted .in A/C mode this unit goes weeks before having to empty the water collection tank. Powerful cooling, like all similar units it makes noise since it is inside. The exhaust vent can be challenging to make work in a non standard window but the accordion tube can be reshaped a million ways to take away any directional torque from where it connects to the vent panel, this helps it from not wanting to pull out if you re-point the unit.

Very satisfied with the performance and quality!
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendWhen my air conditioner went out in my rental condo, I needed to find a quick solution to keep my tenant cool while I waited for the warranty company to fix the air conditioner. I wanted to make a wise choice with my purchase because, let's face it, these aren't cheap, so I was looking at this purchase as an investment. After several days of endless reviews and searching, I decided on the Honeywell brand and on this model in particular. The unit is very easy to hook up and very easy to use. The unit runs quiet for an air conditioner and doesn't rattle or sound cheap. The item weighs quite a bit, but has a smaller footprint than other models. The built in coaster wheels makes it easy to transport, and let's face it, it feels like a very well built machine. After I get the air fixed in my rental condo, I plan to hook this unit up in my bedroom to run at night and save on energy costs. I'm very happy with the performance of this machine and when I took the temperature of the air that it blows, it registered 38.5 degrees F on my laser thermometer. Overall, very impressed with this machine, the remote control that is included is just an added bonus. If you are looking for a a well built portable AC unit that delivers, then you'll be satisfied with this model.

Everything we wanted
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendWe needed a new portable AC when the old one, bought 6 years ago, stopped working. We need it for our bedroom as it's a large house with only one A/C zone, plus the bedroom is above the garage. Our HOA doesn't allow window units, so this is perfect. The Honeywell had the best ratings, plus the delivery to the door. I set it up myself, and we've had it going almost every night for the last 2 months. It's efficient, cools the room quickly, easily adjusted. The fan makes some noise of course, but it's not disturbing, and we both sleep through it. An excellent product.

Portable Air Conditioner Honeywell
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI had searched for quite awhile reading reviews after reviews hoping to select the right portable air conditioner to use in Southern California weather conditions. Well this was an excellent choice. Not only was it extremely easy to set up took 5 minuets and it's very easy to move from room to room. It cools my living room roughly 15x20 and kitchen roughly 12x12 in about 10 minuets. I also use wheel it my master bedroom which is only 10x12 which cools in minuets! I have had it for 2 weeks and have used it every day and works beautifully! In fact I'm going to purchase another one just so everyone in my family can enjoy the coolness at the same time! The way my home is set up unfortunately the rooms do not connect well enough to use the one unit. But since I have been so happy with how this unit works I am OK with getting another one. When the unit is on the low setting it is about as noisy as a normal small circulating fan on low. When you run it on high while the air conditioner is fully charging rather than when it turns to fan when correct temp has been detected it can be loud for a small room but not bad at all for my living room, white noise that is totally OK. Temp. is a bit off when you select say 69 degrees it may read more like 66 when really not that cool. But I could careless what the number is as long as I am not HOT who cares! Great unit for the money and I would recommend this over and over again! And for the record I never take the time to give feedback but I thought this unit was worth letting others know! COOL and HAPPY!

Quality5 out of 5Value4 out of 5Ease of Use4 out of 5I was hesitant to get any portable AC do to it's 50/50 reviews but I was glad i did yesterday for example was 88 i live in MA so humidity wasnt high but in the house its stuffy hot it took a hour to feel relief from nothing prior being used. Threw out the day the room was around or below 70 and it was ice cold air to the point we put it on low and got even colder I live in a raised ranch or cape style this cooled down a living room kitchen hallway dinning room sum bathroom. portability is good smooth wheels. Had to cut a cardboard playe for the window the attachment for the hose couldnt fit a 20in window or picture window.

Q: QuestionDoes this unit really not require drainage?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer That is correct, it has an auto evaporation system so that it can run for extended periods of time with no water to drain.
Answered by MatthewSBBY
Q: QuestionCan the dehumidifier function be used without venting to the outside?I am wondering if the unit can operate as a stand-alone dehumidifier. Typical dehumidifiers have a tray that collects water. This tray is then removed and the water emptied. It sounds as if this unit does not have a tray and can only dehumidify if the exhaust is connected to the outside.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Dehumidification requires use of a hose connected to the unit and run to a drain or capture container. It does not require venting to the outside to use this function.

Q: QuestionMy windows slide up and down. Will that work for the ventilation?
Asked by Jam.
- A:Answer Hello ! The window venting bracket that comes with unit measures 20 inches and it can be extended to 47 inches. The kit can be installed both vertically as well as horizontally. So as long as the size of the windows is as per the bracket measurement, you should be able to install it just fine. Q: QuestionDoes the Honeywell 550 Sq. Ft. portable air conditioner need to have the bottom plug removed while during air conditioning mode? I do have the plug removed but there seems to be a lot of water coming out. I thought this unit had a evaporator in it.
Asked by Ronba.
- A:Answer Hi, Thanks for sending your question! This unit automatically evaporates the condensate through the air outlet hose so there is no need to empty the drainage tank except in very humid conditions. If you have further questions, please feel free to connect with us at 1-800-474-2147 between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm EST Monday through Friday or send us an email at usinfo@jmatek.com.
