Overall it is a really great product. The touch screen works nicely, although wished it came with a cleaning clothe but it's a good thing I had spares. The USB and HDMI locations almost didn't work for me. The HDMI is on the right side with a mini adapter thing, while both of the USB are on the left. One of them is so close to the charger that when I used it I was afraid that one of the cords would ruin the other.
The reason this is a problem for me is because I use a 15.6 artist pro drawing tablet. It requires both the HDMI and the USB to be hooked in to use the tablet. The USB cable barely fits on the other side. I'll have to share a photo.
But other than the hardware's weird placement on the HDMI and the USB, it's great the software handles all my art programs and digital animations beautifully. As a online gamer it handles high downloads if you like to play any mmorpgs. With space to handle your day to day work. Best upgrade in the past 5 years that's for sure.

Great for all my zoom conferences and helped me complete my book. This was money well
spent. 6 months or so I may upgrade to an Apple. And to purchase my podcast supplies. Best Buy is helping me further my career and make a difference in the lives of others. Best Buy for real.

I am not one to write reviews nor am I computer savvy, but I thought today I'd share my experience with this computer.
1- Very fast! Before this one, I had a Lenovo IdeaPad, 4GB Ram. You can imagine that it was very slow, incredibly slow. So yes, this computer is faster considering it is 12GB Ram.
2- Very light! Very comfortable to carry around. Fairly slim in my opinion.
3- No keyboard light. If you are working in the dark, you better know your keyboard well. But this is not a problem. If you really can't see your keys, just turn on the light.
4- Very loud fan. This fan is so loud that I could compare to my blow dryer (exaggerating) but it is very loud and runs often. And that is although my room is generally 70-72 degrees Fahrenheit.
5- TERRIBLE battery life! This is the one reason why I want to return this item. I could deal with the loud fan as one could get used to it. But this battery life is bad, and I am not willing to settle. I can barely get 3 hours out of a fully charged battery while using Microsoft Word, with screen brightness on 0, and no music or video running in the background. This is ridiculous. And it is only gotten worst because last night, I barely got an hour out of this battery fully charge.
I am hoping this computer was defective because aside from the loud fan, I like my computer very much! It fitted my budget quite nicely. I have read other reviews, and most people seemed satisfied. I am hoping that this battery is pertaining only to this computer.
I thought I was screwed to stick with it, but thankfully they extended the return date to April 29th, 2020. So my number priority is to get this resolved. I am not even sure I want another computer like it fearing that it might end up the same way.

Boring sluggish and overpriced entry level device.

Laptop was of lower quality than prior entry level or mid-level HP laptops we have purchased in the past. I’m not a brand snob or diehard fan of any specific brand. I buy a Windows OS laptop based on specs and value within a smaller set of reputable brands than have a proven track record for offering value without compromising on performance. For a roughly $500-750 range laptop price point at the time this was new, I thought we could expect a standard level of performance and quality, but this felt sluggish and performed more like a $300 laptop. We still utilize the device today for my father-in-law who came from an old PC tower that was obsolete so he doesn’t complain about the speed of this device. Any regular PC user would feel limited by the performance of this machine. The case is also flimsy plastic. Honestly just buy a comparable priced Samsung laptop. I would also consider Microsoft branded laptops but they seem less of a value unless you get a good discount. Samsung typically has amazing deals for back to school timeframes and also educational discounts if you can verify student or educator status. We have had such success with them over the years and besides the performance matching the price paid, the materials used are a higher quality than what I’ve seen with HP of late. Good luck with your decision.

I was really upset when my last computer went out and I didn't want to spend as much on a new one. But this one is amazing for the price! It is super fast and is capable of everything I need for work and school. My daughter also uses it for games like Sims 4 and it is faster than my most more expensive prior computer. I love the touchscreen and the numberpad too. I missed having a numberpad before and have gotten so used to a touchscreen that I didn't want to give that up either. So far (1 month), very happy with the purchase !

All in all, I think I got great bang for my buck. To top it off when it went on sale, a week later, for $80.00 less than I paid, I called Best Buy and they credited me the difference. So I am happy. It works just as advertised, the 256 SSD is very quick Everything I've tried to do seems to work flawlessly. I like the touch screen, my wireless mouse works smoothly. As far as I can tell the quality is fine, glad
I bought it. It is light weight and travels well.

I would recommend this laptop. I searched for awhile b4 making this purchase. I read the reviews of so many other laptops and of this one. This laptop is light weight. It starts up very fast upon turning it on. Nothing like my previous 2 laptops. I spoke with my techie friend and she explained to me of what to look for in getting a laptop. (SSD) Solid State Drive, Memory size, getting an i3 or above, size of hard drive and getting the optane and touch screen is a plus. The color is Beautiful. I've owned my laptop for 1 month now. I just Love it. I sent to my techie friend which one I chose. She said you made a great choice. Yes I would recommend anyone looking for a laptop to purchase this one.

This laptop is an excellent buy! It is fast, responsive, and intuitive. Love the touchscreen, and the full size chicklet keyboard reduces errors when typing! Best laptop that I have purchased! The casing is plastic, but this makes for a lighter laptop that isn't too heavy to carry around. Love it!

I bought this for my son who is going to college and I needed to get him a lightweight and fast laptop. I also needed something reliable. I've had HPs before and switched to another brand that was a lower cost. Big mistake. Hard drive problems, battery problems, and software glitches. So I've come back to HP to get an updated laptop and I'm happy I did.
The system started up and booted incredibly fast. I connected to my wifi network and the pages load very quickly. This will make an excellent computer for remote classes with built in camera for video sharing and lots of RAM to quickly stream real time audio and video.
There is plenty of memory for his coursework to store on the computer, but it's really not needed with cloud storage and remote storage devices.
I also loaded up multiple programs with ease that I prefer over the default programs and adding and removing software was a breeze.
WIndows 10 is great. I brings back the classic look and makes everything easy to use if you never really got used to the "apps" view of WIndows 8.
So far, I've run all of the hardware systems such as video, camera, speakers, and everything works like clockwork.
I've read that the battery doesn't last very long, so I also picked up some backup power. Plus if this is being used for remote learning, there will be plenty of places to plug in.
If you are looking for a good overall computer for college - this is it. You don't need to spend thousands as this has everything you need.

Bought this for my wife after Christmas. This computer had everything that she needed and she also loves the touch screen. This HP i5 Laptop is perfect with 12 Gb of RAM and a solid state drive that makes for fast boot up to speed things up. Overall it's a very fast laptop for the price and she is very happy with it.

Got the i5 processor and 12gb memory because I do a lot of work at home and have a lot of tabs open at the same time. I needed a computer that could keep up with me without being over-the-top expensive. For the price point, it's worth the money. The screen is bigger than my older laptop (a plus because I felt like I was missing information with the smaller screen) and it has touch-screen. The only downside is that until the keyboard is broken in, sometimes the keys squeak. Took about two weeks to break in the keys.

I use this laptop for college. Its not incredibly fast, and it does get bogged down sometimes. When it's going slow it has a very loud fan. However, for the price it's really nice. It hasn't crashed, and I am pretty aggressive about switching between programs and documents and PDF's.

This was purchased to simply goof around on the internet. It’s very fast and the touch screen comes in handy. There was no need for huge storage so 256GB was fine. For the money it can’t be beat.

Very good value for the price, fast intel chips, and a touch screen.

Bought this to replace an older, larger Dell N7110. I was surprised at the 12GB memory, i5, SSD, Optane and touchscreen for under $600. I expected to pay closer to $900. BB had my order ready for met within a couple hours and had it up and running in minutes.
Keyboard is a little different from the Dell, but slightly larger keys AND SIDE KEYPAD just make it easier to use.
Would buy another.
