I got this printer to avoid having to buy color cartridges AND a black cartridge to be able to print in black and white. Other printers will not print in black and white even though you have a black cartridge that is full. The toner is 50 dollars on average which is somewhat of a drawback. The original starter toner that came with the printer lasted me 1 year and I got a lot of prints from it. I just installed the new toner today so I am not sure how it will compare to the starter in terms of pages yielded. So far after one year it does what I need it to do which is scan documents and to print in black and white. For a home printer it prints faster than any printer I have owned and is consistent with the prints. Tip: it will tell you toner is low well before you are ready to get rid of the cartridge. Take the toner out and give it it a few shakes and reinsert it to get more prints.

We like it. It seems to be very user friendly and prints fast/clean copies compared to the injets we used. We didnt get an injet because of our past experience with them. The actions required for double sided printing are simple enough. Scanning/copying multiple page documents can be a chore for three or more pages. If you perform a lot of scanning/copying, get something that will draw from the paper stock-tray. All that said, it is an excellent price and we think it is a bargain and would certainly recommend it.

Nice little laser printer for home office

I would give the printer itself 5 stars, but took one off for the installation process. The printer: small footprint and nice looking, very fast print (for home use), supposedly low per-print cost, but no color print as long as you can live with that. You know, the typical pros and cons of having a laser printer instead of an inkjet. The installation process and software: It was not too bad, but the installation process definitely could have been better. I think part of the problem comes from that HP offers two software for the printer -- a more traditional and robust software and a more app-like and lighter software. Because of that, you may run into confusing instructions on how to install the printer, which software to run, etc. I installed the printer, did prints successfully, but days later PC couldn't see the printer anymore so I had to reinstall the printer all over again, but it's been working fine since. Also, as some point out, you do need to register with HP in order to access the scan function. For those super paranoid about giving personal info out, this may not the be the machine for you. All in all, I still recommend the printer.

Excellent basic laser jet printer and scanner, compatible with iOS and AirPrint wifi printing! It's fast, first page out, is convenient but it is a little noisy when printing. Super easy to connect (both via USB and WiFi). Web interface is very intuitive and aides in configuring the basic as well as the advanced options, features, and settings.

Good value for price, wireless has problems

This three-in-one is a great value. The laser printout is sharp and professional, and fast. The paper path is very fussy. The paper has to be positioned exactly right. One millimeter off and it jams. The wireless setup is difficult. I downloaded the software and got it to print, but every other time I turned it on it would tell me the printer was offline. There is some HP troubleshooter you can run, but eventually the printer outshot the troubleshooter :) I ended up paying to have a Geek Squad tech uninstall and reinstall the software. It was a big job. They do it remotely, but I watched what he did. Could never have done it myself. It worked great for a while, now is saying “offline,” but so far still prints. So why four stars? There is very little available at this price, and when it behaves it’s very good.

This printer more than satisfies my needs. Caveat: I am not running a business or working from home so it is strictly for personal use. To find one that prints, copies and scans for this price is outstanding! And it has a very small footprint, which was important to me. It doesn't have an automatic document feeder but that isn't a concern for me. I recommend downloading the full manual from the HP website because the buttons on the display are not very intuitive, but the manual explains all the functionality.

This is a good little printer so far. I haven't had it long. It was very easy to set up on my SONY but I can't get it to run on my new Apple notebook (which is a problem with the Apple product, I believe). It scans, copies, and prints. The scanning was easy to set up. Cons: The printed paper just falls off - there is nowhere for the paper to go. Also, as one user said, the display isn't user friendly. I had to reference the manual.

Upon the demise of my old ink-jet printer, I requested some guidance for a new printer from a friend who happens to be in the IT industry. He suggested a B&W laser printer as being the best for my needs. I searched Best Buy for their inventory and decided on the HP Laser Jet Pro MFP M29W. Since setting it up and using it, I find it easy to use, provides all of the features that I require and delivers crisp, clear copies. I am very pleased with the printer, the reasonable price and the speed in which Best Buy delivered it to my door.

We needed a printer that would work in our motorhome as we moved into it to travel this year. We love how compact that it is and fit very nicely into the space that we have provided for it. We wanted a tase printer as not to deal with ink cartridges that would dry up on us in the past. The warm up is amazingly fast compared to our previously owned office model. The wireless feature is great and works easily with our Macs. Copying works well and we haven't had a need yet for the scanning feature but that is a project coming soon. I would but this again.

I've done the same thing a lot of other folks do with printers. Buy one, use it twice, then try and use it again maybe a year down the line. I don't know how many times I've had ink cartridges go to seed in the time between using them, and I've either had to switch cartridges, or pick up a new printer. Laser SHOULD correct that, though I haven't had it long enough to see. What has been a serious improvement is print time. The first job I put it through, I thought something had gone wrong and it was kicking out blank pages. Nope, it was done.

If you're looking for a fast, easy to set up, inexpensive, all around amazing printer, then this is it. We got laser over ink because its 10 times faster, plus this one was so easy to connect to the wifi, and we easily connected 3 computers to it. Scanner works great, and the toner last forever. 3 cartridges would last over a year with heavy use. So it comes with one, and you buy a two pack, and you're set for a long time. Great for college

I’m very happy with this purchase. Someone said the set up is complicated but if you just follow step by step, or you can watch instructions on YouTube will be more helpful. I love the wifi function so i can print it from my iPhone. The printer is so quick and smooth, the noise is ok, not too loudly. It printed 10 pages like in seconds, to compares with the inked print was so long . I definitely will recommend it to my friends or family.

Very small footprint. Easy set up. And quality output. I miss the color occasionally, like when some text is in red to draw attention. That obviously doesn’t show with black and white printer. But the cost saving of having to repeatedly buy printer cartridges is well worth the occasional miss of color. Other reviews said the paper catch of output was missing. Not true. It slides out and easily catches pages. Great printer!

Overall happy with printer, reliable connectivity, fast prints, easy app. Note, eprint is not a feature with this printer (web services as referenced in the confusing manual). Also, the app asks for a “claim code” the HP support said this printer doesn’t support. Finally, you cannot print if your device isn’t on the same Wi-Fi network, meaning from your phone on cellular network.
