Works better than any other home printer we have purchased.

Much better than the model it replaced. Accepts the refill easier and doesn't drop off of the network like the old model. Running like a champ on a budget.

The printer was great as far as toner cost but I ended up having to replace it (thanks My Best Buy Total) after a little over a year of use due to the drum supply wearing out. The drum is not user replaceable, so the only option was a replacement under warranty. Not sure what the preloaded two year supply is based on, but I ended up buying toner every 3 - 4 months or so.

did not realize at time of purchase that it was only a printer and not a printer copier and scanner. I guess that was my fault. Other than that it seems okay.

First Impression: My first impression of this printer was on par with most HP printers. It was well packaged, and the printer feels well made. The paper tray fits firmly into the body of the printer, the pushbuttons feel firm, and the Quick Start Guide is easy to understand. Setup: Setup on this printer is extremely easy. You install the HP Smart app and simply follow the directions. The app quickly found the printer and proceeded to configure it. At this stage, you have no control over the configuration, the app does it all. But for those who want control over the device, you can configure it later. Performance: I tested this printer from my Android Samsung S22 Ultra, my MacBook Pro, and my Windows 10 machine. Printing from all three was easy. I chose a wide variety of documents and photos to test the quality of the print. In every case, the print quality was excellent. High contrast photos, both color and Black & White kept the same contrast. And one picture I took that had a small amount of intentional blur printed a perfect replica without the color. Printer speed is above average for a laser printer in this price range. By the time some others have warmed up, this printer has already printed. And, unlike other laser printers I use, it is a lot quieter. At work we have an HP LaserJet MFP-M477fnw laser printer. It is a little bigger, twice the weight, slower than this printer, and much louder. Additionally, the toner cartridges are much more expensive. I know this is comparing apples to oranges because it is a color laser printer and this printer is a B&W, but many of the B&W laser printers I maintain are just like the MFP-M477fnw. I really like the size, ease of use, and cost-per-page this printer offers. During this review, I did run into a problem that I couldn’t get past. Once the printer went to sleep, it wouldn’t wake up. I contacted HP support and they were very responsive. Because of my busy schedule, it took a few days to find a time we could connect, but they stayed in contact with me the entire time. The problem was not the printer, but the app. I updated the app, but it didn’t fix it. Finally, after reinstalling the app twice, it started waking up like it is supposed to. Manual configuration: As an IT engineer, I like having complete control of all my network devices. I have a range of IP addressed assigned to each group of devices. I found the IP address that the printer was assigned, and I put it in my browser. It took me to the printer’s configuration page. There I was able to rename the printer and give it the static IP address I wanted t to have. To manually configure the printer, you will need the printer’s PIN number. The pin is on a sticker under the output tray. Leave the username blank and put the pin into the password field and you will be able to configure it. Conclusion: I really like this printer. It is quiet, fast, easy to use, and he print quality is top notch. It is small enough to sit next to my much larger HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 on a small shelf. I highly recommend this printer for a good, small, quiet, B&W laser printer.
