Stylish and functional
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I do a lot of online PC and PlayStation gaming, and this headset works great in both situations. When using with a PC, you can either connect easily to the included doogle or via bluetooth. I was able to effortlessly connect to my PS5 Pro as well with the dongle. Just make sure you have the switch set to correct mode. Charge time is not bad, and the battery life is amazing. I should only have to charge around every 2 weeks or so with moderate use. Comfort wise it excels, and I have no issue with using during long gaming sessions. The headband is well padded and supports the weight of the headset effortlessly. The earmuffs are soft and do not get too hot. You even have the option of switching at the earpieces if you desire. The mic is well positioned and picks up your voice well. It adjusts well and others are able to hear clearly. The style and color goes well with most modern gaming setups. The red highlights are bright and compliment the black. I plan to utilize these as my primary headset and will only use another while these are charging, which is infrequent.

My new Switch 2 headphones!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I owned a pair of HyperX Clouds when they first came out and I loved them until they got destroyed by my nephews. They sound really good and are super comfortable. Since then I've used quite a few other headphones that beat the Cloud out in sound (especially bass), but NONE has ever been able to live up to how comfortable these things are. I realized that my biggest gripe about the Cloud series has always been a lackluster bass response (something I always thought was a bit surprising given their design), but that lack of bass isn't as big of an issue with the Switch. Why might you ask? Well, Nintendo games tend to bias their sound effects and music to a higher pitch. It goes along with the family friendly nature of most of their games (bass is scary). Sure enough, after linking the Cloud IIIs with my new Switch 2, and firing up a game, I was treated to bright, cheerful music with great detail. On top of that, these are as comfortable as they ever were (probably more), and it was a joy to wear them until I exhausted the battery on my Switch (which isn't as long as I would like, but that is another matter). I still don't think these have the greatest bass response. I paired them with my iPhone and played some of my headphone test tracks and they were distinctly lacking in OOMPH. Were they horrible? Not by any means, but a lot of players and headphone owners nowadays are used to headphones tuned a bit more to the bass side, and may be surprised by the lack of head shaking power. I can't speak to their utility on a PC though, and that may be completely different if you are able to utilize the DTS X Spatial Audio. There you probably have a little more control over the equalizer and presets that aren't available through the iPhone or the Switch 2. TLDR: Not the greatest for bass response while listening to music or gaming, but they are almost perfectly tuned for the vast majority of the games found on the Switch platform. On top of that, they remain the most comfortable gaming headphones I've used to date. I'm super happy with the HyperX Cloud IIIs, and we are going to have a lot of fun playing and traveling around!

Extremely Comfortable and 'just works'
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. At this point headsets are a dime a dozen, having one stand out is difficult, especially in any sort of affordable price range. I will say that the HyperX Cloud III S seems to have delivered exactly that. To start: Packaging is simple, headset, charging cord, dongle (which works both in USB A and USB C ports, so good forward thinking there) and minimal documentation. Headset itself looks great with the red accents rather than being your standard jet black headset as so many are. Setup: There's a switch on the bottom of the headset to move it between bluetooth and wireless, and if you choose wireless, there's literally zero setup, plug in the dongle and it starts working. I had it up and running on my PC in seconds. Basic power and volume controls on the headset itself, no surprises here. Use: It's extremely comfortable, the earcups are soft and wonderfully block out surrounding sound, the audio is excellent even if it isn't audiophile level, it's still extremely good. I dont "love" a removable microphone, but I can see how it would be useful for those who prefer it, and there's no complaints on the far end of my communication in the audio quality of the microphone, so it works as expected, and it isn't loose when connected. Overall: It's a good headset, doesn't take any effort to get it going and as I said, it just works. It's a good solid performer in this market for not too much money if you're in the market for something that works on any platform.

Good But Not Great
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really wanted to love these. However, they are good, but not great. They don't have the most solid feel to them. They have a cheaper plastic feel to them. I used these for, gaming, music and for everyday phone calls for work. The sound quality is mediocre. Does not have a deep bass to it. In my opinion, the sound quality could be much better. Battery life is definitely better than I expected. I do like the removable microphone. As far as comfort, they do fit snugly, however, after extended wear, they do get hot against my yearsand I had to take them on and off. You definitely need to play with the volume and equalizer settings out of the box. The sound quality is less than desirable, so that is a personal decision and setting that you must say, play with so it meets your expectations. I have owned multiple headsets, and I would absolutely categorize these as mid, two upper lower end range. For the price point, these are a good deal. And for that, I would recommend these for purchase.

They're fine...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I usually preface my headphone reviews with the fact that I'm not a huge audiophile so I'm not going to be the one that picks up on every tiny thing. I know when I think something sounds good. These headphones kept me sort of wanting. Setup is simple. Plug in the USB dongle and power on the headphones. There's a nice voice that lets you know what's happening (like when they're connected and what to). That's really all there is to it. There's an app you can download if you're on a PC that lets you tweak a couple of settings but there are limited instructions included and I had to specifically search for an app because the controls on the actual headphones are fairly minimal. Build quality is pretty decent. They're a good weight and feel nice to wear without a lot of fatigue from the weight. The cups aren't very permeable so I felt my where they wrapped around my ears getting a little sweaty after some time. Nothing crazy but worth mentioning. I found them mostly comfortable to wear for a few hours at a time. I'd probably take a break at that point. Sound is just.. fine. They didn't blow me away with whatever I was listening to. They don't sound bad. But I've definitely used better sounding gaming headphones before. I didn't feel a ton of bass at all. The microphone is detachable which is always nice for when you don't need it. One of the features available in the app you have to search for is the sidetone volume which I always prefer to have on. The microphone is passable. It sounds good enough for a headset. One downside for me (personally) is a lack of a 3.5mm jack for using the headphones passively. I stream and record videos and have a very nice microphone but the way my audio is routed, I need 3.5mm wired headphones in order not hear a delay in my headset while I'm talking. This is a pretty niche concern and it seems like a lot of modern headphones are also doing away with the 3.5mm headphone jack so it probably doesn't matter much to you. Controls available on the headphones are pretty minimal. There's a power button (which feels like it needs to be pressed way too long before turning on) and a mute button on one cup. Then a volume spinner and a utility button on the other. Along with a switch to switch from 2.4Ghz to Bluetooth. The utility button acts like a play/pause button on my PC. Overall, these headphones feels pretty nice to wear. They feel like they're made to be a premium headset. But the sound they produce just feels underwhelming. I'm not sure if it's "angled 53mm drivers" they advertise on the box, or just ok quality drivers. They don't sound bad, but I feel like you could do better at this price range. See for yourself if you're in the market at this price range. If you can try out a couple pair somewhere, you be the judge.
