Bad for Gaming

This tv has a pretty large screen and looks great, the multiple HDMI ports are very convenient . I would recommend highly to anyone that does not play video games at a 5 star, however I give this a 2 star considering it clearly states it is a good tv for games in the description. This tv is bad for gaming because it has pretty noticeable ghosting, in some games it can easily be mistaken as just being really blurry in motion but in high contrast darker games you can easily identify the ghosting trails while spinning the camera.

Inexpensive 42" with good picture.

For as much as it costs, its a great performer. Moved up from a 32" since I moved and the living room is bigger in the new place. Lacks an S video input as I would like to play my Dreamcast every now and then and for my receivers OSD setup menu. Great blacks, viewing angle that I can see in any direction. I would almost think that its an IPS panel. I think this will hold me until 4K TV's are a little bit more affordable. For an instore brand, I think it delivers good picture quality and contrast. I have not noticed any washout at all.

$250 for a 42" 1080P LED TV - Not a smart TV. Not the best picture but then again it can't compare to my 55" Panasonic Plasma. I haven't seen a LED TV that can. With that said, the Insignia is good enough for the Play room and the kids are happy with it.

Just bought the TV 6 days ago for $299.99-fabulous price and got a great tv with a great picture. You can adjust the darkness-standard is a little dark for some movies. If you see price for less than you bought it online, Best Buy will credit you back if you come to the store with the receipt. Now tv is $279.99 so got money back plus tax for this 42" tv.

Excellent TV After Six Months

I have had this TV for over six months and it has preformed beautifully. I have had no issues. Great sound and picture. Also bought the Insignia Sound Bar for it and it's to loud for a bed room TV late at night. So I just use the TV's speakers and it sound s great. I really don't need the sound bar. It's now cheaper than when I bought it.

I don't see why there have been many negative review of the Insignia brand before. This TV has a great picture display, stands well with its 2 legs on either side (rather than a lone TV stand in the middle of the screen), and a perfect size for watching Hulu, movies, playing videogames, etc. without going "too big" for a TV screen.

Great tv. Had it for a few months for the NFL season so i could watch multiple games at one time. Had it hooked to an IOGear HDMI wireless extender so i could push my DirecTV signal from the bedroom to the main room where i had all the TVs( three in total ). Not one problem with this unit. Its mounted on the wall above the main TV, no problems there either.

Decent for price

This TV certainly needs to be reviewed with the price a factor, as getting a 42" flat screen 1080p for $279 is significant, thus a 3 star rating. The picture itself looked good but I definitely noticed a problem when viewing motion. I watched Sons of Anarchy on Netflix, and whenever there was significant movement it did not appear fluid. For myself it proved distracting, so I am returning it and getting a 120hz tv that will cost more. If price is a factor, or it is for a kid's room, then it might have worked out for me.

Love this TV because of the price and also the picture is perfect! Very sharp and you just cannot beat the price. I cannot give it 5 stars because there is no printed manual.....but I guess that's the future.

Great TV for the Mancave!

Love the TV! I have only had it three days now so I cant comment on long term but short term has been excellent. I was a little worried about the sound quality after reading reviews but I have no issues. Set up was simple. Scanning channels takes longer than expected. I hooked up Chrome cast to it & no problems. The coax cable mounts from the bottom so its a cleaner installation for wall mounts. There aren't a lot off odd features that nobody really uses on it. I do wish it had an HDMI port for connecting a computer, but Chrome cast fixes this. The remote is simple, as in not a ton of useless buttons but a light option on it would be nice. The Energy Star rating is great for a TV this size-your electric bill will thank you. For the price, its packed full & worth every penny. This is in the "man cave" so its mainly used for watching sports - which is amazing with the 42" screen. I cant watch baseball on anything else now! I will probably buy another for the bedroom.

Great for Basic Viewing
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I purchased this TV after having to return a new RCA because it didn't have a digital tuner. I live in an upstairs apartment in a rural area and have basic cable that comes in through an outlet in the wall. I mostly use my TV to watch cable shows, DVDS and videos. I do not currently use any internet with it and did not care to buy a Smart TV as I hear that once the software is obsolete, you need to replace the TV. I'm waiting for technology to be more up to date. I bought this TV to replace one in my small living room. I knew I wanted larger than 39" but didn't want the expense of a 46" or larger. This 42" was perfect. Set up is very easy. I have not had any issues with picture or sound. Sometimes I change from energy savings to vivid or movie settings but the energy savings mode looks nice enough for every day viewing! Sound is good in my small living room. I have it set to 10-15 level (depending on how noisy my neighbors are being) and can hear everything very clearly. I recommend this TV for anyone looking for a good, reasonably priced basic flat-screen TV.
