Customers are impressed with how easy the icemaker kit is to install, with many saying it took them only about 30 minutes. They also appreciate the ice maker's functionality, with comments like "Works perfect and makes a lot of ice" and "It keeps up with the demand. Works well." On the downside, some customers have mentioned that the icemaker can be noisy, with a popping noise when releasing the ice, and slow to make ice, taking 2-3 days to fill up when empty.

I purchased an Insignia Fridge, specifically with the option of adding the icemaker. I would have preferred to buy it with the icemaker preinstalled, but that was not an option. This fridge was for a rental property, and I wanted to make sure my tenants had an icemaker, as the old fridge had one.
Now, I consider myself somewhat handy, as I maintain a house and two rental properties myself. The installation of this icemaker wasn't terrible, but it was cumbersome. There are two filling tubes included, depending on what model fridge you have. The manual is very vague about identifying which one to use. Mine was the shorter one because the longer one simply didn't fit.
The solenoid valve that turns on the water supply for filling the icemaker was a bit of a pain to install. Getting the correct orientation and figuring out exactly which screw holes to fasten it to....required some trial & error (manual again not that helpful). I honestly don't like the angle that they expect you to attach the supply hose. I believe it will result in too tight of a bend on the hose when the fridge is installed.
After getting the unit installed and confirming it made ice, I got a call from my tenant a few days later, stating that the unit was making popping noises for 10-15 minutes. After it stopped, it seemed to work fine. Two weeks later, things went to hell. It would fill the ice tray, freeze the ice, NOT eject the ice, and then proceed to try and fill the tray again. This would result in water overflowing, ponding, leaking, and freezing inside the freezer. After a few attempts to troubleshoot the issue, I concluded that the unit was defective.
I purchased a replacement and returned this one (no hassle at all from Best Buy). When removing the defective unit, it was nearly impossible to disconnect the electrical connector inside the freezer (it wasn't exactly easy getting it in either). I believe the connector was designed to be connected once and never disconnected. I ended up breaking off a tab from the connector on the defective icemaker to get it loose.
The replacement seems to be fine (knock on wood). Overall, the experience was a hassle, but this was the only icemaker option with the fridge I purchased. Given the option again in the future, I will probably purchase another brand that offers the icemaker preinstalled.

I purchased this ice maker and installed it with no problem. I have never previously installed and ice maker. It keeps up with the demand. Works well. I ordered it on bestbuy.com and picked it up at the store curbside pickup. That worked flawlessly.

Works well, a little noisy at times but this does not last long. And not as noisy as the last one I owned.
Easy to install on your own except for one thing. The power connection in the freezer cabinet is in a spot where you can't see it and the directions don't show which way it is oriented. If you use a mirror or smart phone camera in selfie mode it will let you look up into the recess. An annoyance more than anything.

It's nice to have ice on demand without having to fill/spill trays all over the kitchen. The only con are the sounds this makes when filling the tray and when dropping ice. Small inconvenience for all the ice I could ask for.

It install without a problem. You can hear the water filling most of the time as it makes kind of a moaning sound. Sometimes after it dumps a load of ice it makes a thunking sound, quite disturbing the first time we heard it.

Looks great fits well inside the freezer and easy install.
That's good for me since the installers were supposed to do this and they did not.

It is an ice maker that does what it says it will do—-make ice! I wish that it came with the refrigerator, instead of a separate purchase.
However, overall I am pleased with the purchase. The ice maker isn’t noisy. The cubes are well-formed.
Lastly, it’s better than using an ice tray!

This ice maker hasn’t run out of ice since we turned it on, which must mean it has a little larger storage tray than some do. Well it works for us, happy.

You get what you pay for. Bought the ice maker after purchasing the frig. They make it impossible to just ship it to your home because they want you to pay to have them install it. So we had to pick it up in another town 45 minutes away.
Installation wasn’t easy and it took a full 48 hours for the maker to make ice. I know that is normal but it can get worrisome when you’re waiting to see if it’s going to work. If you don’t have the skills don’t attempt to install it yourself. Thankfully we knew how and saved ourselves the installation charge.

Due to a standard fridge doesn’t include an ice maker, I had to buy a kit. Produces ice rather quickly, however upon initial usage, I actually had to discard 4 times when container was full since ice smelled and tasted funny.

Product works fine, we opted to not use this due to our particular home setup. The fridge was originally meant to be a temporary solution anyway, and the ice maker added extra complexity that we were going to end up replacing anyway. Overall good quality and value if you don't want to spend the money on an integrated setup, or if you already have the insignia fridge and would like to add the ice maker to it.

Little popping noise when releasing the ice but no biggie. Also makes a lot of ice and keeps up with our families needs.
