Good for storage but not for editing large files. I bought this to use after some serious debate. I edit large files on Lightroom and Photoshop. I purchased a6TB G-drive and after 3 months it stopped working. Customer service on it said they would replace it but I'd loose all the information. I pulled the HD out of the casing and put it in a dock and it works. It wasn't the power supply but the part inside that powers the drive. So I bought this LaCie to do one portion of photo editing. I thought it would be ok and it does work, but it is SLOW! I work with 60mb files in Lightroom and often have to wait for the drive to communicate. I'm using a 2021 MacBook Pro with M1 chip. So for storage and small files, this is probably a good option. But for large files and quick editing. Look elsewhere.

I feel this is a good drive. I think for the price and size, it was fair. If I recall correctly, Best Buy price matched an online price of $10 less, so that was neat. The formatting is easy enough, but my Mac didn't like sharing the partition. I think that is a Mac issue though (M1 Mac mini, I don't recommend it, they are sort of the Chromebook of the Mac world.) I have been using this steadily for backups and recently for live video, both cases it's been fast and reliable. Recommended.

Love the quality and design of drive. The color also matches perfect with my space gray MacBook Pro. Got this to back up my files with TimeMachine. Was easy to setup and love that it works with my thunderbolt 3 cable. Drive is really fast, does not heat up and is really quiet. I also like that the icon for the drive is the image of the actual drive. The only con I did have was that on DiskUtility, the drive shows up as an SSD even though this is a regular hdd.

Amazing product, easy to use, and great design. It Reminds me of my other LaCie product that is designed by Porsche. I would definitely recommend this product.

Would have rated 5 stars, but USB c/c cord wouldn't stay connected to 2018 MacBook Air. Required force to get connection that I feared would damage my laptop and would not be something I was willing to chance. Have got going now with the included usbc/usb3 cord and a 3rd party usbc/usb3 adapter

Had the prior generation with standard USB with years of service. Typically, I use an SSD to store operating system and programs with data stored on regular spinner hard drives - internal on desktop and portable on laptop. This also gives me the flexibility to transport between computers. With a new MacBook Pro, could use the old drive with a USB adapter, but this upgrades to the correct USB and faster protocol. Plus, a drive over 5 years would have been pushing my luck, so time to upgrade and relegate the old one to archive.

In need of extra storage thats reliable and cost effective then this is a great option. paired this with my MacBook Pro and it's great for backing up my files and giving that well needed storage space

This is pretty awesome.: Slick design, easy to use, spacious. Allows user to save files from different OS's in separate carpets. Fair price. Great value.

My go-to time machine backup. super easy and quick and dependable. seagates would often die on me.

The LaCie 2TB external drive is super sleek, ultra light, low/no heat, and lightning fast for my primary use of it as a backup photo and video data storage and transfer device. It looks great with the gray color scheme matching most metallic Mac or PCs (however the external shell as far as I can tell isn't actually metal). Comes with USB2.0 and USB-C/3.0 cables for most computers.

A great by for the price tag! SLIM, POWERFUL AND WORTH IT.

So far so good! My Mac laptop is getting old so I'm very careful to back it up regularly. I was using a different brand of external back up drive which failed - twice - so I switched to LaCie (which I used many years ago) and so far with this new LaCie everything seems to be working well - at least after a couple of months. Again, so far so good!

Have been using this for several months and fairly easy to use each time I do a backup of my laptop the new files are backed up. When using some other applications it created a new file for each backup using space unnecessarily. The Toolkit updates automatically which is nice. Wish it updated backups of videos and pictures of other devices via WiFi.

Fast little drive at a good price. exactly what we needed

Great device for downloading/maintaining photos and videos for traveling. Rugged to withstand the rigors of travel and incidental bumps. Also use an earlier model as a back drive for my desktop iMac.

Portable hard drive that has plenty of storage, and does everything it needs to do to function properly. Portable storage that is easy on the wallet for 2tb, and have had no issues at all.

Needed an affordable eternal HD for music collection, and this small design was perfect. Speeds are fair, if the you need storage and are not after speed, then this will suffice. Several connection cables included for USB and USB Gen 2

So far it’s been awesome. So easy to set up and super sleek and light. Very easy to transfer anything. Way better than trying to transfer with WD
