I'm fully not satisfied with this laptop. For one thing, the battery life is very short, 2 hours max!. But most irritating for me this the position of the mouse pad. It is not centered like every other mouse pad on my previous laptops - but is more to the left of the keyboard. Because of this position, the bottom portion of my hand can and does easily move the pointer to different positions on my document - which I dont notice immediately because I am reading and typing from my notes. Annoying and frustrating!. Typing this review, I've had to rearrange the pointer five times. Enough already!!! This slows me down considerable - especially when on a deadline. The microphone and speaker quality are also lacking. You will definitely have to add external speakers, with volume at 100%, it is still low. I've had this laptop for months and I still can't get use to it. The keyboard is the best of the laptop, especially if you have big hands as I do, the position of the mouse pad the worst part!! Overalll, I would not buy this particular unit again.

The Lenovo IdeaPad 330-17 ships with a 2CELL 30WH, Lithium Polymer battery, with a battery life of up to 5 hours depending on the work that the device is performing. Be sure there are no unwanted programs running in the background, draining the battery. Here is a link to some tips for finding out what is draining your battery:
https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/battery-saver-windows-10. Additionally, to maximize battery life, try changing your power management setting to a more conservative one. You can do this in the control panel, in the power management category on your system. Select a more conservative power management setting to extend battery life. Concerning the position of the touchpad, this model has a 10-kry numeric pad. The touchpad is centered under the QWERTY keyboard. The 10-key numeric pad shifts the touchpad to the left, under the typing keys. You can make adjustments to the touchpad in your system settings. You can get there by clicking on the magnifying glass at the bottom left of your Windows 10 screen. Type "touchpad" in the search window. Select "Mouse & touchpad settings" from the list of choices. You can make general adjustments to the touchpad there. You can also select "Additional mouse options" for more detailed adjustments to the touchpad sensitivity by increasing the delay of the touchpad. Concerning the audio system on this computer. There are stereo 1.5W speakers on this device. Additionally, there is Dolby Audio sound enhancement software. Be sure Dolby Audio is turned on and adjusted to your preferences for the best audio experience. Lenovo

I am a photographer. So I need my computer to be reasonably fast and be able to handle running software like Photoshop. I often have to multitask, so I needed it to be able to run Google Chrome and Photoshop at the same time. I was assured when I bought this computer that it would have no problem doing what I needed it to. Straight out of the box it took it about 5 minutes to turn on and get me to the home screen. I hoped that it was just startup that was slow, but it isn't. This computer has to "think" way too hard with only one program running. You can hear it and then it starts to get slower and then sometimes it will freeze. Occasionally if I wait long enough, 5-10 minutes, it will eventually process everything and start working again. Sometimes I have to restart it because it just freezes up. It seems to get slower the longer I use it and seeing as time is money in my profession, it is extremely frustrating. Everything is up to date, all scans have been run and everything checks out. Like I said, it had these issues right out if the box. The screen color is pretty off and had to be calibrated, but this is expected with most laptops. Overall, I would not buy this computer again, especially for what I paid for it. I would recommend it only to someone that wants if for browsing the internet or using Word. The charging cord is way too short and I don't like that it's not your typical charging port. Instead of being able to interchange cords, since I have several from other laptops, it has to have a specific one. This makes things difficult since my plugins aren't placed very close to my table. As a last note, I thought I could live with the touchpad not having actual separate buttons, but I hate it and use a wireless mouse.

This laptop was great for the price, however, it was so big it barely fit in a 20" travel suitcase. For the price I highly recommend it for the performance. For travel, we went with something way smaller (& way more expensive!)

Don't let the 3 star turn you away. It's not a "bad" laptop, it's just decidely average. For the price, you aren't going to get much better. I bought this nearly two years ago, and I do still use it, but it's not a "great" laptop. If you are looking for basic, the value is definitely there.

Decent laptop, though feels a little flimsy. Especially the keys, made from lighter plastic to keep weight down. Still, works well, runs multiple programs at one, etc. Would like it better if the arrow keys were separated from the rest of the keyboard, and keys like home/end weren't combined into the numeric keypad. Only other complaint is that the keyboard is set to the back of the bottom, so there's a large area where your hands have to rest. Keep finding I'm unintentionally moving the mouse while typing as my hands keep hitting/moving across the trackpad.

very meh, using for a work computer. definitely feels cheap and flimsy but performs quite well. the numerical pad on the right is a waste of space, would be better if it was ditched and the keys were centered in front of the screen. also, needs facial recognition ability.

My son's gaming laptop broke down and I needed something fairly quickly. He likes a large screen and needs quite a bit of memory. Well, the first one of these I purchased lasted a week before the screen went white. Exchanged it but for a gamer it just doesn't do enough.

The main problem with the laptop is the windows 10 operating system. It is constantly doing things on it's own and messing things up/ wasting time. It removes icons from the desktop on it's own, Cortana is a pain. It wants to speak to you all the time and you can disable things like that but there are automatic updates that you can not opt out of and after they are loaded it will go back to some of the defaults that microsoft wants as opposed to what you want. Networking is a real pain too. I should have spent the extra $300 to get a windows 7.

Takes more then 2 min to load at startup and the keyboard double dips on the keys at times and the space bar has to be pushed kinda hard to get it to work. As for the price its about what you would expect. Not what the sales man sold us on.

This is a fast system with its Quad-Core/Eight-Thread Intel Core i5-8250U processor and 8GB of RAM. Be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programing errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. If the problem persists, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686. lenovo

It works great for internet browsing or word and document processing. The hard drive is painfully slow and the screen is not as bright as I personally like. I swapped the hard drive out with an SSD and made all the difference in performance. However after several display card driver updates, the screen remains dark and sometimes hard to see in bright light areas. Would only reccomend for basic use.
