Let me preface this by saying, I am a big fan of ChromeOS, but you should be too. I am the guy that everyone calls when they need help with their computer. I am a technical guy, it is what I do, so I don’t like ChromeOS because I can’t deal with all the technical issues that everyone always asks me for help with. I like ChromeOS because I would rather work with my computer than always be dealing with technical issues. I also like ChromeOS because once I am able to get people who normally ask me for help all the time to switch to a ChromeOS device, they almost never have to ask me for help anymore. Add to that the fact that Chrome based devices can perform well with hardware that other systems couldn’t which makes them more affordable for similar performace. This laptop is a great example of all of the above. I have multiple Lenovo ChromeOS Devices. This has what you would think would be higher end features. It has a 1080p monitor. A minimum requirement for me at this point. It has a backlit keyboard. Not a requirement, but certainly nice to have. It has a generous 14” display with touchscreen, which also allows for a nice full size keyboard. It has USB c ports, on both sides, and you can charge from either one. It still has a micro sd slot so you can add really affordable storage, and a headphone jack and a USB A port. All this, and you can buy it for less than other machines are sometimes discounted when they are on sale. It is a full laptop, but you can get it for less than you might spend on a tablet, or a phone. For example, I also have a similar device, also a Lenovo, but it is a Windows machine. It also has two USB C ports, one on each side, but you can only charge from the one on the left, not the one on the right. When using the Windows machine, it has a tendency to lock up, 2, 3 even more times per day. I don’t actually blame it on Lenovo. They made both computers, I blame it on Windows. When the Windows system crashes, a system that cost me 7x or 8x more than this Chromebook did by the way, I find myself reaching for the Chromebook. Why? Because it just works, that’s why. I have searched about the Windows errors, and find articles about driver updates and settings that will help you troubleshoot whatever is causing Windows to crash, and If I put my mind to it, I could fix it, but like I said, at this point, I prefer just using a computer, not tinkering with it forever. That is why I just use this Chromebook instead. As Chromebooks go, is this the fastest out there? No. It can actually be a little sluggish at times. That is my one issue with this particular model compared to my other Chromebooks, including other Lenovo Chromebooks, and why I probably wouldn't buy it again. It is just a little too under powered, even for ChromeOS. It is noticeable even when just browsing, pages can be a bit laggy when loading. However, with that said. It is functional. I use it all the time. I think the 1080p display and the backlit keyboard help make up for it. Just don't expect to do anything too intensive on it.

I purchased two of these laptops so that my daughters would have their own Chromebooks instead of those issued by the school. They're a step up from the school models--14" versus 11", backlit keyboard, etc. I think the build quality of the S345-14AST is very good. ChromeOS is super easy to use. No issues finding a WiFi signal or setting up. The AMD A6 chip combined with 4GB RAM seems to be more than adequate for high school level multitasking. I like that the 32GB eMMC storage can be expanded with a micro SD card. I did post a Question about the webcam, which is listed at 720p HD. Lenovo states that the S345-14AST ships with a 720p HD camera (as does Best Buy's advertisement) but in the standard Chrome "Camera" application, the only choice for resolution is SD 480p (see picture). Perhaps that's a limitation of the app, but it feels misleading somehow. 480p is a step up from the school models as well, but I was hoping for better given the advertisement. Otherwise, I'm very pleased with this double purchase.

Worked well great volume and clear picture but it could have been because I put stickers on the laptop. Lol but It worked well and I recommend it fast and easy .

Terrible! I will never buy this brand again. The display is broken already. I’ve barely used it. It’s only been 4 weeks.

I paid $180.99 for "Open Box Excellent". It was shipped in an outer box with bubble packaging inside, and in the original box with all the manufacturer's interior packaging, and it had no blemishes. However, a friend of mine ordered an "Open Box Excellent - Certified" for $193.99, and it arrived in TERRIBLE condition. It came in an outer box with NO bubble packaging inside, in the original manufacturer's box with NO interior packaging, the manufacturer's box was broken open on one end, and the Chromebook was all scuffed up from the Chromebook being loose inside the box and banging against the charger during shipping! I don't know what kind of Best Buy employee would classify it as "Certified" without the manufacture's interior packaging, or would ship it with zero protection inside the boxes, but it made for a disappointing experience! That said, regarding the Lenovo S345-14AST, Model 81WX0000UX, I like it. I experienced no slowdowns setting it up. I've used it for 2 weeks now, and it works great with Chrome, Google Docs and Sheets, Google Photos, and for all my other everyday usage. I do no gaming, so I can't comment on that. I checked in the Chromebook settings, and it says updates will continue to June, 2026, so just over 5 more years. I like the aluminum top, and while the rest of the Chromebook is plastic, it seems well-made. Hopefully it's durable in the long run. I miss having a dedicated number pad for every day use, but I'll get used to using the top row of numbers. I have an old USB number pad, so I'll use that when I need to do something like taxes, etc. It really does get ~10 hours of battery life. I know that's not as good as some Chromebook models, but for one having a 1080p TOUCHSCREEN display and a BACKLIT keyboard, it's not bad at all, especially considering the $180.99 price I paid! Those are just some random thoughts...

This CB is sleek and lightweight. They keys have a little bounce and feel good to type on. For the price, it's great. The screen and camera aren't top of the line of course. You should understand that going in, but for a beater computer, this is a good deal. The touch screen is very responsive as well. I appreciate that it can be unlocked by touch if my android phone is unlocked.

Keyboard is pleasing for us tactile people, display is sharp and smooth, touchscreen works great, mousepad is ok - if you don't click directly in the center of it, it won't click. Compared to my last chromebook, ASUS, which had an M3 processor, this one is definitely slower. Still, quite usable for what I need it for.

Very nice Chromebook. Love the backlit keyboard to use in low light conditions. The speakers are not very loud and are difficult to hear over ambient room noise, but sufficient if the room is quiet. Works fine with earphones plugged in or with blue tooth headphones. Screen is bright and easy to see under normal room light conditions. Was very easy to set up and add multiple accounts to. Price was reasonable and we got the 2 yr extended service contract in with accidental damage coverage case anything ever goes wrong with it.

Bought it for my girlfriend who is not tech savvy. She uses a computer for emails banking and shopping. Her last computer had terrible viewing angles, took ages to turn on and frustrated her. I suggested switching to a Chromebook and she loves her Lenovo. Instant on with no waiting for updates, excellent display with great viewing angles and the touch screen as an additional helpful option. No more cursing her machine and calling me in for assistance. .

I love this Chromebook!!! I am not interested in the fastest Chromebook out there just a decent one under 300 dollars. I purchased this one for 269 on sale ( I believe it sells for 329 not on sale). The options that put it to the top of my list were a lighted key board and touch screen. Most Chromebooks under 300 dollars offer one or the other or neither. With a 14 inch screen that is also a touch screen you get the upgraded High def screen. There are cheaper High def screens out there (the ones that are not touch screens) and you can tell the difference. My only very minor complaint and that it is a little heavier than some. Being such a new model there are only soft folder like covers that I can find so far. I am trying to find a hard cover but no luck at this point. I would not let this stop you. I believe the updating of software on this model to be good until July of 2026 and that is also a plus. If this is what you are looking for and can get it on sale I would definitely recommend this Chromebook!

I bought this for my 3rd grader for online school. Great value. She loves you it has the play store and that it is touch screen. The touch screen makes things so much easier. It doesn't glitch at all, runs well, and is pretty quick. It's a good size and works well for everyday use.

We purchased this as a replacement for an older Toshiba Chromebook that was working just fine until someone stepped on it and cracked the screen. We needed a replacement computer for home use and this was perfect. Love the touch screen and all the available Google Play apps. Now that the kids are doing school from home, this works great for their video conferences with the teacher. The only reason this is not a 5-star review is that we do not like the built-in speakers. They are very tinny and almost grating to the ears. We have it connected to a mobile Bluetooth speaker that solves the issue.

Love the touchscreen, have been using it for work for the past year and it is amazing. The only thing is it does run slow at times making live meeting a little spotty

I was looking for an affordable laptop for everyday internet use, online shopping and streaming movies. This one caught my eye because it seemed to have some extra bells and whistle others did not in the same price range. The anti glare is nice touch, the backlit keyboard is great and can be adjusted to the brightness you want. The touch screen is amazing, so convenient to just touch something on the screen or swipe up or down to move around quickly on a web page. Overall set up and usage of the chromebook is very easy and user friendly. I would highly recommend this chromebook.

I wanted to try out using a chromebook for travel instead of carrying around a two-thousand-dollar windows laptop. It didn't work out for me, as a software engineer there were just too many limitations on what you could do in ChromeOS and I could not be productive with the machine. Connecting to VPNs was a pain, remote desktop was a pain, etc. This particular unit with the A6 and low RAM was bogging down all the time. Other than the processor and memory its a super well-built machine, though. My windows laptop is lenovo also and many of the things I love about my windows laptop were present on this lenovo chromebook: Great build quality, great keyboard to type on, backlit keyboard, nice touchscreen, etc. If you can get by with the limitations of ChromeOS and want a well-built chromebook this is definitely a nice piece of hardware but I still need my windows, it turns out.

I purchased this to be used as a school Chromebook for my 2 kids. This has exceeded expectations and performed well so far, being used every day. Good product for the price! Touch screen was a nice bonus!

Very good for school and runs pretty fast, good for students

I bought two of these Chromebooks anticipating my 14 year old daughters would not be attending school for awhile (Covid-19). The girls absolutely love them. They unpackaged the product and set everything up on their own. I didn’t have to figure anything out for them. They have used them for classroom discussions (zoom) without any issues. Great purchase and they are happy!

I've never owned a Chromebook and I don't guess I was expecting much, but the value for what I paid is excellent! This was a gift for my husband who doesn't do a whole lot of internet surfing other than FB and news. But he does like to get on and play solitaire and other games. After the initial learning curve of downloading from Google Play store, he has really enjoyed this laptop and we both would recommend it to our friends.
