The sound bar gives us improved sound quality when compared with the TV speakers. It doesn't get five stars due to the issue of syncing the sound bar to the TV. Every time we turn on the TV and sound bar we have to use the sound bar remote to sync the voices on the TV to the sound coming from the sound bar. But the remote fixes this rather easily making it a minor issue.

Tried both HDMI and Optical cables to connect, but soundbar shuts off after short time. Cannot get the lips to sync with the sound even with the sync adjustment. Frustrated! What to do?

I gotta be honest: this sound bar really isn't all that great, ESPECIALLY for the price. I've got it paired with an LG C7P OLED TV, and there is a slight but noticeable lag in the synchronization. There is a feature that lets you delay the audio further, but not speed it up (which is the real problem that needs fixing). The high-end is practically non-existant; it doesn't even acknowledge the slight beeps made when scrolling through options on my Apple TV. The bass is intense, though the subwoofer lacks the punch that adds to great home theater. It exists to just sorta amplify the bass. Overall, it all feels rather flat. I find myself using the TV speakers more than half the time, and the speakers on LG's OLED's are horrible. The SJ8 works kinda well for intense action movies and some video games, but that's it. Reason I gave it three stars is because it came free with my TV, and for that price it's certainly adequate.
