I replaced a G1 with this G5. While the differences are subtle. Picture is definitely brighter and clearer. The setup allows you to make picture adjustments that make it stunning.
The remote is a BIG disappointment. I hate commercials and want to mute them. In order to mute the sound you have to hold the sound button down for 2 seconds. Which also reduces the sound level to zero. When the show comes back on, you have to push the sound button up to get the sound back and play with it to get to the level you want. BRING BACK THE MUTE BUTTON!
Also I have not figure out the HDMI input, that used to be a button on the remote.
There are some quirks that are annoying. Like when it sees a change to the Universal remote (Apple TV) it pops up a window to input a code to accept the changes. Sometimes code window does not come up.
As a Technician, I look at this as to how much aggravation it might cause to someone not that technical. My advice if you are not on the technical side is to have a Best Buy tech set everything up so you are good to go. I highly recommend this TV!

Only owned this OLED TV for a couple of weeks. So far so good. Added wall front, middle and rear speakers, along with a new Denon receiver as well. Sound is awesome through audio system, not sure what TV sound alone sounds like. Image is pure, especially 4K content, like 4 You Tube vids. Blacks are solid, and I understand there has been a few updates/firmware so far. Settings is a bit of a learning curve compared to my old 65" Sony Led from 2017. TV was on sale so that's always a good thing. Will update this review if needed.

It's an amazing TV. My first OLED but I have been around them for awhile. big difference compared to previous generations not only on brightness but also the 4k upscaling! LOVE IT

This television stands out as one of the best OLED models currently available on the market. Its brightness performance is exceptional compared to other OLED displays, and the seamless no-gap wall mount design adds a sleek, premium touch to the overall setup.

Really love our 77" G5 OLED. Picture quality is outstanding. Installation went fine and really looking forward to watching football with this great picture.
Re-watching old series (The Last Kingdom) and the upscaled improved picture quality greatly enhances the experience. Bought a 2nd TV for our FL winter home.

G5 is coming up on 200 hours break-in, just picked up the new Portrait Displays C6HDR5000 meter along with the new updated license which covers all of the 25 models including the G5.
Picture completely changed at 150 hour point, everything became more crisp and detailed, out of the box colors are beautiful.
CalMan Autocal has been an awesome addition along with the VideoForge Pro pattern generator.
AutoCal worked beautifully on my G4, so I'm sure itll be amazing with the new G5.
Very, very happy with the G5, well done LG!!!

This is probably the best tv of 2025 all things considered. Probably the number one reason to get it over the G4 is its punchy colors. It gets very bright and will work fine in a bright room. If you are looking for HDR impact this TV is king.

Overall, a very impressive TV with incredible brightness and picture quality. One small gripe I have with it, is with it connecting to Xbox consoles. When it switches between HDR and SDR content, the picture can sometimes be lost and a reboot of the console is necessary. Also, DolbyVision on Xbox with this TV does not work quite right as the brightness is terrible, so it has to be disabled on the console.

I couldn’t be happier with my LG OLED77G5WUA. The picture quality is stunning and the ultra-thin design looks beautiful on the wall, and the built-in features are fast and intuitive. Easily the best TV I’ve ever owned.

Fantastic television with bright colors and deep blacks. The TV itself is unbelievably thin and the included wall mount was a breeze to install. Don't love the magic remote though.

The picture is nothing short of amazing. Any reports of ‘dithering’ are no concern at all, sorry I spent so much time looking into this non-issue, at least for watching TV and movies, what 99% of us use it for. Spent a little time calibrating but to be honest the settings in FilmMakerMode were mostly spot on. My main hope was for better visibility of dark scenes, like Harry Potter series we here there are very dark scenes, which is perfect now, even when watching in a brighter room with the ambient light sensor. If you’re on the fence, go ahead and pull the trigger on the purchase you will to regret it!

This is a phenomenal TV and the price for Black Friday was amazing. The quality is great and perfect for gaming with PlayStation five as well as Apple TV. I really appreciate how the colors pop and the response time is fast. Unless next year’s model has significantly better upgrades, I would look for this item again, potentially saving more money when the new models come out.

The Lg G5 and Best Buy store staff get a 5 but the Geek Squad gets a 0. Despite paying to install and set up they came out and said putting it on a stand wasn’t covered-despite my specifying it then left and listing it in transit for 5 days so it couldn’t be rescheduled. Then told, without forewarning they would be at my house when I wasn’t there but never showed and listing that it was done but they went to a different house!! Best Buy tv sales people apologized profusely and returned my money
