Holy crap, all WIFI problems in my 4200 square foot house eliminated. expensive, but worth it,
Setup using downloaded phone software was very simple.
just walk around your house with a phone setting up
each node, takes less than 15 minutes to setup all 3.
You have to plug in one unit to your cable modem,
but the other nodes also have ethernet jacks which is awesome
if you don't want or need to connect to them over wifi.

Had a dead spot in the back of the house and low speeds when I got anywhere away from the old router. Not only did this solve the dead spot, but the speed throughout the entire house matches that of where the router is located. We no longer have internet issues and probably have 40 devices connected with a couple of gamers hogging the bandwidth. No issues and even got another for our church.

I have used other Linksys routers over the past 20 years and was always happy with them. I have been searching for a good performing and stable mesh wifi system and had high hopes for this one after trying a couple of other brands, but this one was an upset.
The setup process was easy and performance was very good. The minor issue was that roaming devices did not move over to other nodes easily. Sometimes devices in the same room would connect to a node further away in a different room.
I was willing to live with it until the 4th day. On the morning right before my wife and I were starting work from home and my kids were to start distance learning, the primary node connected to the modem suddenly stopped working.
The indicator light turned red and there was no internet. There were no link lights on the modem or my hard wired desktop which seemed as if the node was brain dead. Nothing would happen even after a factory reset. After a few powercycles, I gave up and hooked up my old router since the household needed to get back online quickly.
I didn't have time to deal with Linksys Support so I ended up returning this to the store. Even if I did have the time and patience to work it out and get a replacement, I would worry about this happening again at a time when internet is needed the most.
Aside from the hardware, the mobile app could use some more features. Surprisingly, the app still reported the system as online even though I had unplugged and boxed up all the hardware. So, that says something about how well the app works.

Hi, MandM,
Disabling the client and node steering feature of the Linksys MX12600 may help us isolate the concern. We could also have our Escalation Engineers checked on it. Thus, we understand your decision and in case you have future concern with our products, please feel free to email us at [email protected] with your contact info and the link of this review, for reference.

Found my wireless network system after burning through multiple brands and units. If you are a family with multiple devices, this is a great technology and design. Our home design creates some difficult signal spots and using extenders has been problematic as they continuously needed to be reset. Not anymore. Super easy to install and we have not touched it since.

PROS
+ Generally affordable for a 3-node mesh network, particularly with Wi-Fi 6 capabilities
+ A quoted range of 8100 square feet, which I haven’t been able to scientifically test, but can cover my whole home and then some with non-flinching speed
+ Unlike almost any other router I have owner, set-up is straight forward, quick, and effective with the partner app
+ The app is clear, easy to navigate, and generally lets you perform most functions you would ever need without ever needing to sign-in to the router directly through your computer
+ I have yet to test a Wi-Fi speed below my ISP provided maximum (actually, it is 30Mb/s above my ISP quoted maximum), with extremely consistent performance
+ Can handle over 120 devices at once, which I haven’t come close to hitting, but can easily handle the 15-20 devices I have had running simultaneously, with multiple 4k streams, downloads, web browsing, and more taxing the network
+ Is even capable of local game streaming from my desktop to my TV, at over 120mb/s, with minimal latency and low judder for a non-hardwired connection
+ Multiple ethernet ports per node allows for hard wiring to multiple devices where needed, without the need for a separate ethernet switch, removing potential wireless bottleneck in your system
+ Tri-band system takes the difficulty out of choosing the best band for your devices
+ Included 3-year warranty
+ Overall, its truly easy to operate and troubleshoot, especially for a router system!
CONS
- Each tower is relatively large at almost 10 inches high, and works best with some venting, meaning you won’t be able to store this in shorter horizontal cabinets nearly as easily as a traditional flat router
- More of a nitpick than a true detractor, but while the app is great, it could still use some layout improvements, since most settings and adjustments are hidden behind nested menus and folders, which takes some getting used to
- As far as I can tell, there is no way to measure individual device usage on the network through the app, so you can’t track how much data is being used by each device in real-time, a feature I used quite a lot with my old mesh system, and is one I really miss here
MY OPINION
I have a long history installing and working with routers, and like printers, they have always tended to be needlessly difficult to set-up, and more importantly, to troubleshoot when things aren’t performing right. About 2 years ago I moved over to my first mesh network system, and I haven’t looked back since. With an easy to set-up wireless node system, smart app integration, a wealth of future-proofed features, great customer support options, performance, and system integration, this Linksys Velop Wi-Fi 6 system is easily the best wireless system I have ever owned. I was able to go from unboxing the 3 nodes, to having everything set-up and running in about 20-30 min, with the majority of that time spent re-working my wiring to take advantage of each nodes’ multiple ethernet ports, and for the system updates to download.
Gone are the days when setting up a new router meant hard-wiring your computer to it, going through a non-intuitive set-up process, ensuring your devices were on the right bands, that interference wasn’t causing issues, and repeating this process over and over until you had the best performance. With this system, I think the best compliment I can pay it is that it just works. There isn’t much playing around with settings (although you certainly can do that through the companion app), you just set the nodes up (the parent node to the modem and the child nodes throughout your home), test your connection, connect your devices, and you are good to go. I am supposed to get 200mb/s of speed where I live, and with this new system, I am regularly pulling in 230mb/s at all hours of the day, with many devices connected at once. In fact, since both my fiancé and I are working from home due to Covid-19, we frequently have about 5 computers all connected to the internet at once, plus 2 phones, web calls going most of the day, and 4k streaming happening in the background. Not once have we seen or felt a noticeable drop in speed, the system just tears through it all without breaking a sweat.
Even more impressive than the speed though is the coverage. I used to have a 2-node system before getting the Linksys Velop Wi-Fi 6 system, and so to do a straight apples-to-apples comparison, I began by only connecting 2 nodes, in the same spots as my previous system, and testing them out. I don’t have nearly enough space to near the 8100 sq. ft range the system advertises, but I do live in an older building with very thick concrete walls, enough so that my old system would sometimes choke when connecting to the child node in my office just a few rooms away. In my testing, with as heavy of loads as I could create, this system has yet to choke in any fashion, and in fact when I tested it by walking away from the nodes as far as I could, I got almost twice as far as my previous system before losing connection to the Wi-Fi. When I added the third node, I could go almost 3-4 times as far, and it didn’t break a sweat with speed.
The biggest stress test I can place on the system, and something I frequently have struggled with in the past, is local game streaming. I use Nvidia Gamestream, Moonlight, and Steam Link to stream games from my office desktop to my living room TV at 4K 60FPS, with bitrates usually around 100-120 Mb/s. Typically this is a load I would only recommend with a hard-wired ethernet system, and something I have never been able to achieve wirelessly. However, this Linksys system actually manages to do just that, with extremely impressive results. In fact, I have never seen a quality drop in my several hours of gaming, with the video quality looking like I was playing the game straight from HDMI. My only issue here is that the ping and judder can sometimes creep up, leading to occasional stutters or latency with the system, but this is few and far between, and with some tuning, I think I may be able to easily eliminate these bottlenecks.
In terms of complaints, I only have a few minor criticisms, and they are more opportunities for improvement than true complaints. Firstly, the design of the system is tall rather than wide, which may suit some set-ups better than others. Each node looks like a mini Xbox Series X, and while some may prefer this design, those who like to hide their set-ups in cabinets or short spaces may find they need to shift their system a bit. I normally stored mine in my entertainment cabinet, which it would no longer fit in, and so I had to move things around a bit to find a good spot for it to work. Again, for some, this design may actually be preferable, but either way, it is important to note these nodes have some size to them.
My last two issues deal with the included app, which by and large, is great as it lets you set-up and monitor the system without ever needing to sign-in to the router system from your computer. However, one issue I have is that while the app is largely intuitive, a lot of the functions are hidden behind tabs and menus, which means it can take some trial and error to find the function you want the first few times through. Since I connected my 3rd node later after the first 2, it took me a while to find the actual spot in the app where I could add the 3rd node to my system. Once I found it, it was no issue, but the intuition is a bit harder to follow at times. Secondly, my bigger miss, but one hopefully that could be added with an update, is that you can’t monitor real-time usage of data for each device individually, at least so far as I could find. I used this a lot with my old system to monitor bitrates of movies I was streaming to make sure I was getting the speeds I was expecting, as well as see if any of my devices were draining the system unexpectedly, and it is something I do miss here.
All-in-all however, there is very little to complain about here. The features are amazing, with many more nuanced features like parental control and guest network access control that I don’t make regular use of, but are highly appreciated. In the end however, it’s the feature set and the performance that matters most, and in those cases, this system just excels to the highest degree. Its fast, with VERY wide coverage, its easy to use, and even easier to set-up. The nodes are sleek, quiet, and offer plenty of ethernet ports for additional connection options, along with great future proofing as Wi-Fi 6 devices become more and more popular. Its simply a great system, and I truthfully have no hesitation in recommending it.

Overall for a Wifi6 Mesh system very good! The setup for this system was VERY straight-forward. The ONLY complaint I have is that for some reason the satellites all connect back to the main device rather than in a fully 'mesh' method. My farthest device is connected to the main unit rather than to another mesh unit that sits between the main unit and where it sits. Still, backhaul speeds are improved over an older Mesh system. The user-interface is pretty good. Have tried two other systems - this is the first that has worked. Still, I think it's priced about $100 too high.

Huge improvement over my previous Netgear + Extender system. Setup was very easy, and deployed systems in less than 30 minutes to cover 2500 sq. ft., two story house and backyard.
Only frustration is bright blue LED on top of units is very bright - we had to move it out of the master bedroom because it lit up a corner of the room. Need control to turn off LED.

It's been a week since I installed this router system. I'm not a big techie person but I know enough to be dangerous. This was by far the easiest router I've ever set up. We needed the extra oomph of wifi radius power to cover our 2200 sqft house (with crazy thick walls built in 1940) and several outbuildings. One tower went next to the modem which covers the upstairs and main parts of the house. The second tower is in the converted garage which covers the back portion of the property. The third one went into a finished shed that covers the front part of the property. So far, everything that needs wifi has a strong connection and is working beautifully. I used my Samsung tablet for the app control center so my phone doesn't have to be utilized. I kept the old Linksys info for the new system so I didn't have go around changing all the different devices. Talk about making it easy peasy ... wow!! I think we have about 15 devices currently on the network which leaves plenty of space and power for more items when/if needed. Even though this system was crazy expensive, I think it's been worth every penny. Personally, I don't care that the towers are quite large. Mostly because they're not located in any of my common use areas. Monoliths was a great description. lol My only hope is that it lasts for more than 2 years .. which seems to be the useful rate for our routers. *fingers crossed*

I have an old house with plaster walls and long front-to-back coverage need. The cable modem is in front of house in attic, so I used multiple routers (Netgear R7800 primary, R7000 bridged for back , and a Cisco/Linksys E4200 v1 as ethernet bridge on first floor). I replaced the entire setup that had 3 SSIDs (originally 2 SSIDs - but expanded to set up Ring devices outside) with these connected in bridged mode to the R7800. The coverage is excellent throughout the house now with reasonable placement. I get 425Mbps down/40Mbps up from ethernet connected PC on R7800, but manage 330Mbps/40Mbps to master node in attic, and just a tad under 300Mbps/40Mbps everywhere throughout the house. Ring video doorbell pro was primary issue being addressed and is well connected now. The setup was extremely simple - was able to set it up under one if the existing SSIDs , check things then turn off the old SSIDs and have existing clients reconnect no issues. All the work was fixing the clients using the other 2 SSIDs. Only issue is confirming what clients are using 5Ghz vs 2.4Ghz due to the bridged mode, but then everything works and is solidly connected - including the previously problematic doorbell pro. Given I already had R7800 router configured, I did not need the router functionality - this let me get max speed on wifi and on the R7800.

It actually does boost the signal however, my space is small and I don't have room for all three of these towers. Since I got a new ISP I no longer need them. Also, I think they're way overpriced. I had an issue and their customer service was diligent and despited hours of being online with them could not resolve the issue.

I have an old Wifi 5 Orbi mesh system that has served me very well over the past 3 years and was looking at upgrading to Wifi 6 for my 4500 sqft home. I first tried the Nighthawk 3 pack mesh system but after 1 month of use it proved to be insufficient in keeping up with all my devices. My next choice was the Orbi AX4200 3 pack or this Velop AX4200.
I decided to go for the Velop for the following reasons:
1. All 3 units are identical and each unit can be used as a standalone router if need be.
2. Can add other compatible Linksys routers to the same mesh system.
2. USB port for adding network drive(s) on all three units.
3. Dynamic backhaul which adds an extra 5GHz band for network use. (This option has pros and cons.. read online reviews) I found it to be very useful and works very well with my setup.
I have had the system installed for about 1 month and it has been very stable and much faster than my Wifi 5 system. Installation was a breeze and it just works. The user interface is very simple and straightforward without a lot technical information to protect the innocent. However for interested techies, there are ways to access and view more technical data.
I definitely recommend this mesh system.
