I am using the receiver as a pre amp with a Adcom GFA7500 amp. The set up and control given is excellent. I have bought Pioneer Elite since 1987. I switched to Marantz after the Pioneer/Onkyo marriage. Glad I did. Happy with my choice.

I upgraded to this receiver from an 8 year old Denon which I liked and I am keeping, but lacked modern features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, network connectivity, etc. This receiver is a fine piece of equipment, looks great and well built - overall construction including the speaker terminals on the back are excellent. The power output is more than sufficient to drive my large Definitive towers and surround sound, but also has very fine accuracy throughout the range. During extended periods of high volume use, it has not seemed to get too hot as if it is laboring. The menu and set-up are very easy to navigate and I used the calibration microphone to set-up the room in no-time. Streaming music features with the network connection is something I really like. Don't under-estimate the impact of using high-quality, premium cables. If sound/video quality isn't important enough to make the investment in proper cables, don't waste your money on a premium receiver.

The HDMI control board in my Harmon Kardon AVR finally died on me after 10 years of faithful service. I was torn between the Denon, Yamaha, Pioneer and the Marantz units after reading numerous online reviews and reading all their specification sheets. Finally I went into a Magnolia Best Buy and listened to them all on similar speakers that I have. I was also only interested in receivers with HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2 as I plan to transition to 4K in the next few years. The Marantz, to my ears, was leaps and bounds better. The sound field was so much clearer with every sound expressed whereas the others felt muddled to me. The other people in the listening room felt the same. I honestly thought I was going to pick the Denon 3200W prior to listening to them all. At home the Marantz has brought new life into my 5.1 setup. My cheap-o subwoofer sounds much more prominent than it did with my last AVR and the bass is much cleaner and more precise sounding. Movies and TV shows sound so much clearer now with well defined sound fields. Music sounds very clear as well. I cannot recommend this receiver enough, but everyone should do their research and go into a store and listen to each one.

My Onkyo died so it was time for a quick replacement just before Christmas.... Magnolia rep recommended this unit based on my situation that I described, and have been happy with his choice.. Future ready with 4k and 3d passthrough..... Great powerful sound.... Easy Setup.... And I just paired it with my new Hopper3 from Dish and it works great. Only negatives? The remote is underwhelming with half as many buttons as my Onkyo had, and no backlight. Also, silver dollar sized display window on the front is useless. Function lost out to form on this one, but at least they have an iOS app that removes the problem for me.... Highly recommended. Make sure you allow the receiver to do a firmware upgrade first thing and don't interrupt it....

I started looking at Marantz after my 2011 Denon started cutting in and out on my cable connection. I would be watching TV and it would go black and silent and take a moment to catch up. After researching, I found out this was a common problem with that era of Denon. After all of this, I was very skeptical of Marantz as they are owned by the same company as Denon. I figured if one has the issue the other might as well since they do share many of the same parts. Instead of guessing, I called about 10 Magnolia stores across the country and asked each one their thoughts on best receiver for about $1000 that would be powering an all Martin Logan system with SVS subs. They all recommended the Marantz SR5010. They all said this is the best for music. After hearing all the great reviews from the store associates I bought the 5010. Wow, the sound is night and day from my Denon. Some people said I might not be able to hear a difference but they were wrong. This receiver is awesome. The setup is simpler than the Denon and the sound on both music and movies is absolutely incredible. My electrostatic speakers actually can do their job now. One piece of advice, if you want a big display this is not for you. The on TV screen display is plenty and most of the time I am playing Spotify from my phone so I don't need any display. Other than the display this receiver is very classy and stylish. You will not be disappointed!!!

I have designed and installed a few home theaters over the years. I usually preferred Denon or Yamaha receivers, but I decided to go with Marantz this time for our new home theater room. WOW! This is a fantastic product! It was easy to setup and configure. I have it integrated with a Harmony Hub (iPad/iPhone app) to control: Blue-ray, DirecTV satellite, PS4, Wii and AM/FM tuner. The onscreen menu was easy to navigate throughout the process. The sound for home theater is absolutely incredible using Dolby Atmos with a 7.1 configuration and Bowers & Wilkins speakers: 600 series front L/R (SKU: 4828009), center (SKU: 4827028) and ASW608B subwoofer (SKU: 3395028); M1MB rear surround (SKU: 4841615); and Niles in-ceiling (SKU: 5856732).

I went in expecting to come out with another Yamaha or Denon Amp to replace the Yamaha I had that failed in under 3 years of usage. After listening to several amps and comparing the features I took a bit of a leap of faith and wen with the Marantz. I know the Marantz name was once very good but it did slip. Based upon my experience with this amp thus far I would say they are back. I understand they are now owned by Denon but this unit is superior to the Denon I already have. Nice piece, great sound quality, easy set-up and operation. No issues or complaints what so ever.

The short: Great receiver, you most likely won't have any problems. The long: I do really love this receiver. It's extremely new (when I bought it), and I've ran into issues because of this. I also purchased a brand new Sony 4K TV that I wanted to pair with this receiver over HDMI/ARC, but for weeks I'd run in to non-stop issues - to the point where I couldn't even load the on-screen menu on my TV. I had to try to use that tiny dial display which is very frustrating. Must have been some sort of HDMI handshake issue. However, I've received software updates over the past few weeks and that has helped resolve most of those issues. Currently, the advertised Spotify Connect feature does not work. This is a known issue at least and they say they are working on it, so again, hopefully another software update will fix that. I don't know that I'm quite sold on the tiny dial display, as I am a more functional-minded vs artistic-driven person. However, I have to admit it does look very sleek and the style has grown on me. Overall though, I am very happy with my purchase and I would definitely recommend this receiver.

It was a toss up for me between this and the trusty Yamaha Aventage receivers. This has proven itself through the power output and warmness of sound. I listen to 90% music 10% movies at home and this receiver is awesome. Great connectivity and simply just works without an issues. It does run a bit hot, but nothing alarming.

Couldn't be easier to setup with the on screen step by step menus. Has every feature I could want ax far as converting input sound properly to the latest sound technologies. It is DTS-X ready and will get a firmware update end of August. Has AirPlay for spotify. Also does Sirius and Pandora etc. the Audessy setup came out beautifully. I have no complaints.

Best Electronics Purchase Made in a While

This is the best piece of electronic AV equipment I have purchased in a very long time. I previously had a Marantz Pre-Amp Processor with 5 separate Mono-Block Amplifiers, 1 for each channel. This arrangement produced what I thought to be exceptionally good sound—until I replaced it with the SR5010. The reason I replaced the previous system is because the pre-amp developed a problem which would have been too costly to repair. Since the SR5010 can also be used as a pre-amp processor with my 5 mono-block units, I decided to keep them—thinking that is what I would be doing. However, when I used the SR5010 all by itself, I was blown away. The sound quality coming out of this unit is stunning. My mono-blocks went back in their original boxes. The SR5010 has 2 LFE subwoofer outputs on the back. Since my speakers have built in powered subwoofers (Definitive Technology Mythos STS), this worked out perfectly—one output for each speaker. The base levels to the speakers can be adjusted from the SR5010 control panel, which offers a multitude of control options. There are too many to mention here. For example, once you identify the crossover frequencies of the drivers in your speaker, you can match them with the appropriate settings in the SR5010. With the M-DAX setting, you can get your mp3 files to CD or DVD quality. The built-in Wi-Fi allows for automatic firmware updates and free Marantz Internet Radio which is a very nice plus. The video on my Sharp 70” TV has never looked better as when processed through the SR5010. There are a ton of features on this unit that will not disappoint. The enhanced sound and video quality I am getting out of this unit are worth every penny. I could not be more pleased with the SR5010. VAC

I read several reviews of various AV receivers before settling on this Marantz. The HDAM circuitry lives up to the hype and the transparency of the sound of this unit is terrific. The high current amplifiers also give it an effortless sound especially when driving more demanding loudspeakers. It honestly sounds more powerful than the specs would indicate. After listening to more than a few various manufacturers and models, you can honestly tell a difference between them. If music plays a role in your AV needs then I highly recommend giving the Marantz products a listen and you just might find as I have that while you may spend a bit more, the return for your investment will put a smile on your face, and at the end of the day... isn't that what you are really looking for?

Easy to hook-up, appreciated the included room correction microphone. Have a larger theater room in my house and receiver provides great sound and plenty of volume. Don't use a lot of the extras, mostly use for watching movies. Remote is okay but I use a universal remote so doesn't matter. Only issue I have had and found it all over the internet as an issue is getting the receiver to work with a Comcast remote. Just not going to happen... known issue. As stated, I also have a universal remote so am able to overcome the issue. Overall, if you are looking for a receiver that has good sound and ample volume, this is the one for you. I would have given it 5 starts if it wasn't for the issue with the Comcast remote.

I have had this for about a month wanted to wait to review. First off I went with the Onky had it for 29 days not bad but something was just not right so I returned and went with this unit was 300 more but worth every penny incredible quality and plenty of power. I am running full 7.2 Atmos with ceiling speakers and a 2000 watt powered sub ground shaking results with any Atmos movie. Now on to the music hands down better sound stage than the Onky I had first. You could spend more cabbage on a amp but I see no reason 2. Very happy easy setup ! Go get it !

Outstanding inputs/outputs, sound quality. The issue is the control protocol implementation between source/receiver/smartTV. Still needs work to force it to do what YOU want, rather than having a demented mind of its own.

The badboy replaced my onkyo tx-nr809 previously purchased at b&h. Best Buy rocks and their geek squad and excellent protection plans blow b&h out of the water. After the third burn out on my onkyo. I wanted something better went to the magnolia center at my local Best Buy. Looked at comparable and after some great advice from the tech guys I decided to take this baby home. It's not as heavy as I would have expected but it blows my ex onkyo out of the water. The sound is crisp, clear, clean and filtered. If you want clear and not loud noise this is the amp for you. Enjoy.
