Like Star Trek
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Closest thing to a next GEN Star Trek game we have right now. Also, unlike the previous ones you can jump and you even have a dash move you can do in the air.

Good sci-fi fun!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a great time with the game. It gave me a throwback to the old days of ME1. The stories are well written, the traits of the different alien races are well presented and the gameplay is great. Yes, the game is a bit buggy and sometimes loads in characters a bit late (at least on xone), but it is nothing game breaking and just requires a bit of patience from time to time. I finished the game within 75 hours and during that time only once I encountered one bad bug in a quest where I had to kill myself to progress....so again nothing special here. The game is in a good state now. The skill system is very nice and easy to understand, giving your followers the right abilities allows you to synergize and create effective comobos. Also the weapon crafting offers a great variety of options. You can create weapons that shoot lighting beams, which melt through shields, or weapons which shoot explosive projectiles. The only thing I didn't like as much was the music in the game, it just didn't hit my spot (but whatever...to each his own) All in all i had a great time with the game, it really fell in line with the earlier mass effects....too bad they closed the developer team down.

If you like exploring...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you like exploring, then you'll enjoy this game. There are still many bugs in the game unfortunately, however Bioware is actively patching the game continuously for the near future. Still, it explores a new galaxy with a ton of areas to explore. What's fun is the side missions are of a greater variety with potentially huge impacts later in the story, rather than a million fetch quests like Dragon Age Inquisition, which was Bioware's last game. Still, the story takes a while to start moving - after nearly 10 years in game. I expect this will be anything from a 50-75+ hour experience, so you'll still get your money's worth if you put your time into it, but I recommend you buy it now and wait until it's a patched further if your finicky about those kind of things...

Much better than anticipated
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this game for much cheaper than it was at release. I went into it having loved the previous Mass Effect games and for less than a ticket to a movie, I figured it would be worth at least two hours of laughter. I actually got a mediocre to decent sci-fi experience. The story is awful, let's just get that out of the way. The characters are one dimensional and goofy and the writing is some of the worst in a modern AAA game. This is why it has the scores it has. However, I was a big fan of the vision of terraforming/exploration the game had at its core and the game itself is visually appealing. The quests can be really fun or a confusing mess. The latter ones appear far too often and it's clear that the game lacks polish. So why four stars? The game is worth the four stars now that it's bargain basement priced. There are redeeming parts of the game and even a bit of real 'mass effect' fun amongst the rough outer layers. If you have time, give it a go. There are certainly better games to spend your money and time on, but if you crave sci-fi experiences the way I do, this is a solid entry for the price.

STOP the Hate
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is getting bad reviews for no reason. Its Mass Effect 1 and 3 mixed together with a lot of new features. It's big in scope and activities. The story is interesting and the combat is very well done. WE all know in 2017 that all games get updates so minor glitches that I barely have seen will be updated. Enjoy the world they made its worth the purchase.

Definitely Mass Effect
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've played BioWare Games from the beginning, and they have their ups (Dragon Age: Origins, ME 1,2) and their downs (Dragon Age 2, and for some, Inquisition). This one is definitely an "up". Much larger in scope than 1 or 2, you may not "land" on as many planets, but the ones you do are different and meaningful. Unlike Inquisition, the side quests actually mean something and have an effect. You don't have to craft, but you can make some nice gear. You don't have to gather resources, but if you want to craft they're easily purchasable. The visuals are beautiful. I'm about 50-60 hours in, and I've only encountered a few (3-4) very minor bugs. The initial load when starting the game is long, but I haven't had long load screens at any other time, including fast travel. As a negative, the menus are a bit of a mess. In crafting, there is no way to sort your blueprints, so finding the one you want is a pain. Tracking all the quests in a game with a TON of them can be a pain, but at least we CAN track them, and see what stage they're in (unlike ME 3). The visuals are Mass Effect. Everything looks like it belongs in a a ME game. Only 2 "intelligent" races, but this game only covers one cluster in the Andromeda galaxy. It stands to reason that more are "out there" for future games. Yes, some faces are... odd, but that's been every BioWare game ever, and isn't that noticeable when you're into the game. I find the story interesting, and it doesn't make feel forced to rush through. ME3's story had me feeling like I was trying to "beat the clock", and ME2 forced you into missions based on how many side missions you had done. Andromeda allows you time, like you're truly there to explore. Combat is an improved form of ME3/ME3 multiplayer. The jump jet increases mobility and allows you get around the battlefield quickly. Weapons all feel different. Smart cover actually works, and works perfectly. Mulitplayer is exactly the same as ME3, with the sole exception of the jump jet, which makes it a lot better. Sessions give you more than enough "credits" to buy upgrade and supply packs every 2-3 matches. Matches start quickly, and I haven't experiences any lag, but I'm usually the host and I have very strong internet. Of note, all of the above was on my Xbox One S, which is my primary console. I've only played 3 hours on my original Xbox One, and the graphics were slightly fuzzier there. All in all, I love the game, and I think a lot of people are dog piling and being hypercritical. To me, this game is almost on par with ME2, better than ME3, and way better than Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Overall good game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's not a bad game. Sure the character animations are hilarious and there are a lot of other bugs but I feel like it doesn't take away from this being a good game. There is a lot to keep you busy and lots of story and the combat is pretty good. I've played the mp a little and don't find it as entertaining as ME3 mp. Maybe once I play it more it will grow on me. Overall I like this game and the problems aren't enough to keep me from playing.

Bioware getting back to its core
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If we're talking about the initial release of Andromeda I would give the game 4 stars because it has a ROUGH start. However, my late review is of the game after devs spending months listening to feedback and making good on promises of a game that does right by a beloved series. If you love connecting to unique and loveable companions and feeling a true character come out of your choices as the player avatar in your rpg experience ME:A delivers in a way that Dragon Age: Inquisition fell short. The overarching storyline of the game struggles in balancing with the open-world layout and skips over important issues I hope a sequel will come back to address; but Ryder is a fantastic and relatable sucessor to Shepard as humanity's ambassador to a new galaxy and my entire experience with the crew of the Tempest felt like coming back home to the writing I love BioWare for.

Not Worthy of the Mass Effect Name
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is terrible. The original three Mass Effects had a great story, great gameplay, and great characters. This has none of that. The voice acting is bad, the facial expressions are bad, and the game is riddled with bugs. Do not buy this terrible game.

Alot better than the reviews say, alot of fun
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The original Mass Effect trilogy is easily on my favorite top ten list of games ever (especially #2) so I've been looking forward to this game for years now. And when it came out with some of the negative buzz I was very surprised and sad. But I ofcourse still got it and played it to see for myself, and we're these bad reviews warranted? No, not all of them. Yes it has bad face animations in some parts of the game, the characters weren't as cool, and the story isn't amazing, but the rest of the game is beautiful and it be very hard for any story to surpass the original trilogies story. And this is why I think it got some bad reviews, nostalgia. Fans hyped this game up so much and the first ones were so great it was almost impossible to live up to people expectations for this game. People expected the best game ever, and it's not. But you know what, its super fun to play. The gameplay is so addicting and amazing (even better than the originals in some ways) and fighting is just amazing. You have so much freedom while fighting, you can dash and use your jet pack to fly, to which all these new additions make the combat amazingly fun. And it still has all the great exploration fans of this game come to expect (a true action RPG for completionists). And all the great dialogue and romancing that everyone loved about the others as well. So is this game better then the originals, no, but it definitely holds its own and is a joy just the be back in the mass effect universe. If they learn from this games mistakes while build upon what they did better, the next one will know doubt be the one everyone should be really excited for. Def give this game a try, its a great game, don't listen to the haters.

Not the best but it's still Mass Effect
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A lot of people are complaining about the animation, and yes, it's not the best. But I've never played Mass Effect for that - and the story, combat, exploration and everything else is still there. If you love Mass Effect you'll enjoy this just fine, but it's not the best in the series.

Wait for patches.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Mass effect Andromeda is a good entry back into the series. It looks fantastic and gameplay is spot on. But the bugs and glitches are enough to bother a lot of players. Bioware has put out a few patches and updates that make the gameplay a little more smoother but other users still report bugs and glitches. The story overall was good but nothing grand. Characters were also not memorable comparing to past mass effect games.

Great game, great price!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I played ME3 and it was a cool game but it was also time intensive and this one is too. However, it doesn't take away from the fact the game is fun to play and experience. I love the character customization. There is a little lag when walking into new areas at times but I do have it installed to an external so that could be the problem. It doesn't really bother me though. Good game for the price.

A Mass Effect game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I enjoyed Mass Effect Andromeda. I know others have issues and I have mine but I wanted more of the Mass Effect universe. I didn't get too many bugs as I played more of it after the updates. I didn't like how you can only control you and can't give orders because I spent alot of the previous games redirecting then giving orders. I enjoyed that squad base type. I played this on both Xbox One and PC and while the PC version does look much better, I noticed there were fewer bugs on XB1. It may just be me but it is something I noticed. It's sad we won't be getting another one, I'd love more of the same game from the trilogy, more lore and story. Mine was about the journey to the end more than it was in the ending itself I suppose. I enjoy the combat mostly and I guess that is where my target was focused more. I'd still recommend this game (even more so to the level headed person), on sale.

Very Good game.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.ME:A is a very good game that was let down by indifferent/sloppy quality control. Great story & game play, & tons of quests, but then there are all the bugs & glitches that the people who made the game didn't bother to remove or fix. If you liked the first 3 games, you'll probably like this one, but will repeatedly be frustrated with bugs & glitches.

Not as Good as the Main Trilogy, but Still Fun
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I personally really liked this. The story wasn't up to the level I hoped (the two new alien races either instantly shoot at you or very quickly accept you and I thought there could have been more tensions in trying to get along as a visitor from a far-off world), but I still like most of the characters, the gameplay is a lot of fun, it's fun to role-play in this universe, and I personally haven't experienced the bugs that seem to crop up in a lot of gameplay footage. It doesn't feel like it has advanced as far as other series like the Witcher, but I still got absorbed into the world the same way I did with the prior games.

A good time with technical issues
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Being a big fan of the first 3 games in the series, I was really looking forward to this game. I pre-ordered it despite the fact that I shy away from "day one" purchases these days where games are released in "unfinished" states, requiring patches and DLC to make them whole. Let's get the negatives out of the way first. The character animations, even after 2 patches to "fix" them are still not that great. Every time you talk to someone, it gives a close up of both your character and the NPC. The facial movements of the human characters are just off. The alien characters don't seem to have the same issues, but all of the humans just look a bit weird. Something I usually scoff at when people complain about it is frame rate. 9 times out of 10, if someone mentions that a game's frame rate is "choppy," I don't notice it. You really can't miss it here, and it happens in weird places. Instead of happening when you would expect it, say an intense fire fight with multiple enemies on screen, it happens when you're driving your land vehicle and nothing is around you. Or after you've closed out your crafting menu. With that said, there is still a very good game here. Combat is fun and satisfying and you can approach the fights a number of different ways. Want to be a bullet sponge and wade in with shotguns and melee weapons, they have a character build for that. Want to be a sniper and hang back while your squad mates do the heavy lifting, you can do that too. It's fun and fast paced. Mission variety is all over the place. Most of it is fun - particularly the loyalty missions for your squad and the vault sequences. there are some tasks that are just boring/annoying. But that's the case with any game of this size and type. I'm only about 75% through the game, but I'm having fun, and am invested in the story, so I'll definitely play through to the end. I haven't played the multiplayer portion as it's not my thing, but friends of mine have told me it's like the in game combat, only better since your opponents are real people and therefore actually a challenge. It is not the best game in the series - that honor still goes to Mass Effect 2 in my opinion. I think it's a nice jumping off point for a new series in this universe. It's the start of a new story, so if you've never played the first 3 games, you won't be lost. The references to the original trilogy are minimal thus far. Apparently the game isn't selling up to expectations, as EA just put the series "on hiatus," so that means we probably won't see a sequel for a while. If you're still undecided, maybe wait for a sale.
