The Good, the bad and the really ugly.

[I really would give this game a 2.5, if I could]
The Good: Planet exploration and the single-player combat action has taken a considerable jump forward from the previous Mass Effects. I find myself wanting to go from planet to planet, seeing what treasures and dangers await me in these gorgeous new worlds.
The Bad: The writing in my opinion is fairly poor, but I do understand how some will find it enjoyable. It's not that I don't like campy dialog here and there, but Mass Effect seems to be very tone-deaf at times where the character dialog and responses do not match the situation. The absence of Renegade or Paragon responses made the character dialog feel very limited most times. What made the previous games special to me is that I could add many aspects of my own personality to Shepard through the vast dialog options. In Andromeda I feel like I'm locked into being either nice or snarky and it's very predictable and sometimes straight-out boring.
The Really Ugly: The character animations and in-game bugs are the worst of any AAA game I have purchased in last 5 years. I don't even of room to write the large list of bugs I have encountered in Andromeda that has cost me hours of gameplay. Some players are willing to give Bioware and EA a "pass" on these issues - I absolutely will not.
** If you are on the fence about purchasing this game and reading my review, I highly suggest you wait and see what Bioware does to address these issues. If you love Bioware and don't care about bugs or terrible character animations you probably already own this game. LOL.

I must admit I'm new to this IP but was pleasantly surprised on how fun and addicting this game can be, not to mention the phenomenal graphics and the customization of the building your armor and weapons if you have been hesitant to pick up this tile I encourage you to do so and start having some fun!!

This game has received mixed reviews, but with about 25 hours of play time in, I'm really enjoying the game. I suppose graphics and environments could be better, so (-1 star). I've played the first two games and this one has a similar feel. The game is deep, with 25 hours in I've still got a long way to go to complete the main story. Like the other previous games, there are countless side missions, so u really get your $$$ worth!
Missions are fun and the familiar storyline is developed and engaging. I do miss some of the earlier crew members that aren't available in this game, like Ashley and Tali, but Cora is a nice edition.
I haven't experienced any significant glitches in this game and I havent gotten stuck in the Nomad as I sometimes did in the first two games, so that's a plus!
All in all a very enjoyable game that I definitely recommend to both fans of the series and those new to it.

I have been a long time Mass Effect gamer, and was definitely excited for this one. I got it delivered on launch day from Best Buy, and have been playing it since. There are some technical issues for sure, and I hope it gets updated in a future patch. There is the frame rate occasional slow down and texture pop-in that can be annoying at times. The animations leave a bit to be desired, but they are nowhere near as bad as the internet would have you think.
The gameplay itself is great, and a natural evolution to the third person gameplay the series is known for. Combat feels much more fluid. The jetpack gives you freedom to explore and makes the combat dynamic. Instead of hunkering down behind the same wall, I find myself moving around and trying to flush out enemies. The powers and abilities are also a step up in the way they are handled. You have the freedom to really customize your character to your play style, and swap out abilities on the fly. Weapon and armor upgrading and crafting can be a good way to gain powerful equipment.
Lastly, the story. The story finds you far and away from the events of the original trilogy in the Andromeda galaxy, 600 years later. A contingent of Milky Way species left the Milky Way in search of a new home in Andromeda. You take on the role of a human tasked with finding suitable places to call home. The characters so far have been great. Both the returning and new species make for an experience that feels fresh without changing too much. While I didn't care for several of the squadmates initially, they have grown on me over time.
Overall, I would recommend this both for returning Mass Effect fans, and newcomers to the franchise. Be aware of some technical issues.

Despite it's early bug that were fixed this game is great. Story is interesting and has some neat surprises. Great controls and most of the graphics look great minus some of the odd facial animations. It's not the best Mass Effect but it's great game overall. I'm glad I didn't listen to all the negative reviews that said this game was horrible and played it for myself.

This game has gotten a bad rap since the day it was released. Those expecting the next evolution of the franchise, where the stellar (no pun intended) storytelling of the original series meets next generation hardware will be disappointed. The story, involving the first humans arriving in Andromeda galaxy, had potential, but too quickly degenerates into the familiar. Interesting elements, such as a mutiny on the spacecraft, and continuing shortages that are causing those in charge to delay the other people from being awakened from their cryo tubes should have been the main plot. Character-wise, Drack, a thousand year old krogan, works just as well as Wrex, and might even be better, as he has the irascibility of old age to add to the naturally surly nature of his race. I usually add him to my time just to hear his banter while traveling. On the other hand, funny and likeable Liam slides just fine into the same everyman slot that Kaiden occupied in the first game, and Jacob in the second. Cora is supposed to be a tough soldier type, but dishes out the toughness and likability in such even measure she comes across as wishy-washy. This is especially exemplified in how she is not nearly as upset as she should be considering how the Main Character, without sufficient experience or qualifications, steals the position she was trained and prepared for out from under her. The rest of the characters suffer even worse cases of blandness, lacking the standout qualities that made Mordin, Tali, Garrus, and Liara so memorable. That said, the plot and characters aren't terrible, just a disappointment when compared to the high standards set by the original games. The combat is a bright spot; probably the best yet, with jumping playing a large role. It plays more like Halo and Gears of War than the more methodical Advanced Warfighter model past games were built on, which can be good or bad, depending on how your preferences lie. At least classes (now called profiles) no longer restrict what powers are available to you. They only provide bonuses geared to certain play styles, and can be changed at any time. The game also abandons the corridor shooter route past games employed, and are now open world affairs, with a vehicle similar to ME1's Mako to get you from place to place. Anyone who wants to step into that universe again, and tempers their expectations accordingly, will find this a trip worth taking.

This game has a ton of potential. I am enjoying the combat, story, characters, and skill tree. The visuals are also pretty good. However this is one of the buggiest games I have ever played. Even if you ignore the questionable animation that everyone has talked about, it still has a lot of issues. I would recommend this game to any Mass Effect fan, but maybe wait til a price drop. Hopefully by then they can iron out some of the issues as well.

The newest entry into the mass effect series doesn't disappoint. Even though I would have liked there to be a few less bugs from day one (most of which have been fixed now) that doesn't take away from this being a wonderful entry into the mass effect world. It has the story and gameplay for someone familiar with the first trilogy and it also is a wonderful place to jump in for newcomers to the series. I would highly recommend this to anyone who likes a good third person shooter or action rpg or that is a fan of a good story.

I'm a huge fan of the original Mass Effect Trilogy and had myself convinced I would hate Andromeda. I just wanted another entry in the trilogy with all the characters I already loved. None of the footage and news I saw before launch sold me on Andromeda. Well I'm here to say I was wrong.
Andromeda gets off to a slow start so I think you really need to be willing to give it a bit to grow on you. Don't be afraid to advance the story a bit in the beginning and get to know the characters before deciding if you like the game or not. It took me about 10-15 hours before I was willing to admit that this was actually a pretty enjoyable game. Most of the characters that gave me a bad first impression I actually started to like.
This is a big game and there's lots to do. The story line is probably about on par in length with the previous games in the series, but there's tons more side content to get lost in. If you do everything I'd wager you could spend more time cleaning up everything in this game than it would take you to do absolutely everything in all the games in the original trilogy combined.
There are some glaring issues though. The facial animations are rather inconsistent, some scenes people look fine and others you get the weird facial expressions we've all seen in gifs across the internet. It seems to get better later in the game (or maybe I just got used to it). The PS4 version has some texture pop in and frame rate issues in certain areas. The UI and inventory system could use some tweaking.
Overall I say there's more good than bad and it's worth a playthrough.

While there is clearly a lot of controversy in the gaming community surrounding some of the elements of the single player component, such as the writing and the animation work, there is still a lot of fun to be had with the engaging exploration, combat, and RPG mechanics. Multiplayer is also surprisingly fun, and gives the game added longevity.

As a long time fan of the mass effect series, I was put off by the initial reaction to this game when it launched. But I decided to play it and judge it for myself. Although it may not be up to par with the original trilogy, it’s still a good new chapter in the franchise. Some may like the new characters and others may not. Nonetheless the story is good although there are some cliffhangers but otherwise a good game for mass effect fans.

This is a fun and Star Trek-like adventure RPG set in the far future. It has very customizable characters and a deep storyline where the choices you make will impact the overall storyline. The game is a third person action shooter with control over a squad and their orders. It’s a pretty game with a great soundtrack and a very large game world made up of various planets and space stations to land on and interact with during the story.

This game is getting a lot of bad rap lately from people. This game is amazing. There are some game play problems. There are glitches, some screen tearing, and some graffic issues. It doesn't really kill the game. Some of the stuff is patchable. It feels like Mass effect 1. It has some issues, but the story and characters are absolutely wonderful. I love the concept and the world. The battle and build up systems are great. Again, there are a good amount of combat glitches, but it by no means makes the game unplayable. As a matter of fact, this being a very open world mass effect game, it is bound to be glitchy (look around Skyrim or Fallout 4). Also this is a newer team and their first next gen mass effect. None of this excuses some of the mistakes that were made (some facial animations and such) but every mass effect has had some problems. I took a star off for the glitches. The rest of the elements far make up for the problems it has.

Bioware made major improvements to the gameplay for Andromeda, however everything else in the game feels like a downgrade compared to the original trilogy. The story is very forgettable and failed to invest me in any characters or conflicts. The open environments feel sparse and filled with meaningless side content. They’ve added a lot more RPG systems, like an inventory and crafting system, but it just feels like unnecessary clutter that bogs down the experience with more time spent in menus. However, playing the game itself is very enjoyable due to the improved combat. The game feels more mobile than ever thanks to the jetpack. There’s an incredibly flexible class/skill system that allows you to build your character however you want with no restrictions. I greatly appreciated these improvements, so it’s a shame that the rest of the game failed to capture my interest.

As of this review, there are still some glitches with the human face graphics. They're hilarious, yet kinda frustrating at the same time. Other than that, this game is a lot of fun. They customization is fantastic, the story seems to be heading somewhere massive and fun, and there is a lot of open world exploration.
The only downfalls so far, are the supporting characters are all kind of bland. In the prior trilogy, it was difficult to choose characters whose skills most complimented my play-style, if they weren't the characters I enjoyed having with me. In this game, so far, nothing has happened yet to make me invested in a supporting character. I miss having something like the ending of Virmire, where you were immediately more drawn to the character you chose to save because of the direct impact on everything that decision had.
Despite that, this game is a ton of fun.

Fourth Great Entry Into the Series

This game is awesome. The combat just flows so well. The story is well thought out and each character is quite good. The leveling system allows for more flexibility by assigning points however you want vs being stuck in a pre-selected class. However, there are a number of flaws that do need to be addressed. For instance, the facial animations are quite poor for a game in this day and age with a company such as this. I expected much better. The character customization is also a let down. It's not up to par by comparison in past titles. For a game that was made by a mega corp I am disappointed in the quality. However, the game play, story and overall experiences, the game is worth the expenditure.

I didn't enjoy the story as much as I did the previous Mass Effect games. I was hoping for a ground breaking game from a series that has always been very good and had so much time in between releases. While it might not have reached what I was wanting it to be it was a very enjoyable game.

Andromeda had a lot of criticism, bugs, animation issues, etc...when launched. I'm a few hours in and haven't noticed amy issues. Gameplay feels better then last gen. Graphics looks really good especially on ps pro. So far, the story seems a little bland and not much backstory with your crew to make you care for them like in the last trilogy. Then again, I'm only a few hours in and from what I've read it's gets better with time. Got on sale with my gamers membership for $32 and that's definitely worth the price
