This is the best Metal Gear Solid game ever made
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The graphics are stunning and the maps are huge. So much is going on in this game; collectibles to be found, mother base management, combat deployment, 157 side ops and 31 main missions, plus so much more. If you are a fan of the MGS series, this is a must have to your collection.

Starts strong but...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first half of Phantom Pain game is one of the most enriching gaming experiences I have ever had. The second half (while still solid, no pun intended) gets held back some by repetitiveness and a fragmented story line. Still a great a great game, but could have been one of the greatest games ever.

The Best Game of 2015
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is sadly Hideo Kojima last Metal Gear Game. I thank this game is the best Metal Gear I've played and I've played all of them since the NES. It's great to see how the game has evolved over the years. If you are thinking of picking up this game do so you will not be disappointed.

Kojima's finest work.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Metal Gear Solid V brings all the greatness of Metal Gear onto these new consoles and lemme tell ya, the hype was real!! Not only does MGSV: Phantom Pain live up to the legendary status of the ones that came before, it may even surpass them and trust me it takes a lot for me to say that. I have been a huge fan since MGS released on PS1 in 1997 or 1998, and I have followed the series loyally and loved every single game thus far but MGSV offers even more. Not only can Snake (Big Boss) now traverse freely as he sees fit and explore the vast world Hideo Kojima has brilliantly laid out for us, but he can do so and still maintain the badass MGS style stealth and shooter-fanatics. He definitely took a huge risk in choosing to expand and sort of make an espionage-RPG, cuz previous MGS titles confined you either in an area, or jungle or facility of some sort. But now, Snake can take and acceprt side missions, recruit new members, liberate enemy bases and expand his own base and earn money to upgrade weapons and gear that you will need to take down tougher enemies. And yes I was skeptical of the whole idea at first, but I am very pleased to say Kojima and Konami knocked it out of the park. There is so much to do, and so many scattered fun Easter Eggs that Kojima has laid out for you, that alone could entice you to continue. And there are tons of eggs for players who have played any of the previous games and the answers he provides on some topics is much appreciated. The shooting is great. same MGS style battling and stealth espionage style combat returns with all the stuff we loved about it added in the mix with a huge open world to sneak around in. And if your new to Metal Gear, even if sneaking isn't your style, Kojima makes it fit to your needs as well as you will have the full control over whether to not be seen by enemies and take them out silently one by one and covering your tracks by hiding the bodies of the NPC's you subdue or if you prefer you can go in guns a blazing and have every enemy in the Middle East after you at once. The 2nd option is not always possible however, and is much more difficult and I would advise assessing the situation before you commit. The enemies are tough Also, the epic bosses and superhuman abilities they possess make a return and its a joy ro have another chapter in the MGS saga of ultimate boss encounters. I wiont give it away but fans of the series will be pleased. MGSV also sports the best looking scenery in the series up to date, beautiful, well designed locations. Even Afghanistan (which is where you will begin the story), a vast wasteland of desert sand and sun scorched wildlife somehow manages to look beautiful and alluring. The nights in the desert are also stunning in their own ways and you can tell their was passion put into creating it. You will go to many other locations and all looked and felt just right!! The story of MGSV is true to the roots of other MGS titles and may seem a little far fetched to some, or unbelieavable even. But one thing that MGS has done from day one is tell a grand story of serious relations but does it in a creative and not so serious way. The content of the plot and the world that has become is all very harsh, brutal and cold. Yet, Kojima manages somehow to craft it in a way to make it enjoyable and not seem so serious and driven like games such as Call of Duty. MGS gives ppl a break of that and allows you to enjoy this ride and lets you ride it the way you want to. Needless to say,the story is full of surprises, betrayal, and old friendly and not so friendly faces of the past and is indeed a story done well and a perfect way to cap off MGS!!! And u don't have to be literate with MGS series at all to enjoy or understand, MGSV has Ocelot your instructor break it down to u as the story goes on. Although, it is much better having knowledge of the other games as there are tons of references, old familiar faces and stones unturned and Kojima really does well in leaving old fans of the series rewarded and satisfied. So, I'll cap it off with saying not only did Hideo Kojima and his (former??) company Konami manage to make a great open world stealth/rpg/action journey, but they managed to add Metal Gear in the mix of all that and its a formula hard to accept at first but man foes it work wonders. Snake has access to way more weapons, build his own unit of men and expand his home base, decide whether or not to let foes live to join your squad or kill them, have access to TONS of side missions that are all so rewarding in their own right that I did nothing but side quests for a solid 2 weeks. And to top everything off, Kojima threw in a banging 80's soundtrack cassette tapes as goodies you can find and have access to the musicas you going on your missions or whenever you want. So, lemme be the first to say that I have had a blast playing Metal Gear over these years, and that I believe this to be the greatest one yet. I know the whole sort of rpg elements and free to explore world may be too big a pill to swallow for some fans of the genre, but I got over it and accepted it and ended up being grateful for the change. It was time to bring Metal Gear into this age and by doing so, it opens a lot of doors and creates massive opportunities that weren't there before so before you condemn it, go try it!! I can only hope that Kojima and Konami can work things out and that isn't truly the last Metal Gear Solid game!! Its been much fun!!! A must have for even the slightest fans of Metal Gear and even newbies who just like shooting or exploring worlds!!

Kojima's swan song at Konami
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you've never played a Metal Gear game, be prepared to be utterly confused by the conspiracy talk online, or even the storyline of the game. Of all the games so far, MGS V is actually the most accessible in terms of gameplay. New gamer? Stealth too hard because you have no patience? No problem, as Kojima programmed an in-game "easy mode" via the chicken hat that triggers only after you've failed a mission repeatedly, letting you progress without making the game entirely too easy. The fox engine makes lighting look amazingly photorealistic, and the controls are super tight as to be expected from a metal gear game. Unlike previous metal gear games, V is open-world, so it's more in line with the current trend of game design. You have more freedom to approach objectives however you like. All in all, I'd recommend any metal gear fan get this because it's most likely Kojima's (and possibly the series') final entry. If you're a metal gear newbie, the convoluted nature of the metal gear lore can be jarring. However, even metal gear solid vets find the stories crazy and outlandish, so that may not be as big of a deterrent.

Awesome
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Alright I'm going to review based on my husband and I. He's been a metal gear fan since the ps2 and thus this is my first time experiencing metal gear gameplay. First off, we both love the gameplay. It's engaging and the open world concept is beautiful and well made. The gameplay keeps you going and building up your mother base only adds to the many things you experience in this game. Plus ever since metal gear online came out seems like there's only more things to get excited for. After getting use to seeing hideo's name everywhere you'll love it. This game plus ground zero can be played even by first time metal gear players and manage to bring you in with its extensive story and suspense. You'll be wondering why you never played it before. My husbands only complaint? Not having even more gameplay. And mines is only laughable considering the dark turns the story takes. I wouldn't want to spoil it for anyone so you'll have to buy the game to find out.

Metal Gear Has Grown Up
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This has got to be one of the best MGS games I've played. There is so much to do and it all fits, unlike many other open-world games whose extras feel like padding. There is so much to explore and discover. Around every corner there seems to be a new challenge, from an enemy outpost to capture, to sneaking up on animals to capture (you never get tired of sending a sheep sky-high!). The controls are excellent and feel responsive and it all translated very well on screen. Using you various buddies abilities can make or break a mission, so choose them well. My only complaint would be that the story is a bit thinner than previous entries in the franchise, but the story that is there is classic off-the-rails MGS goodness we've come to love.

METAL GEAR!~
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let this be noted that, considering the breadth of the game being reviewed, I have yet to delve that far into it; I am currently on the second set of story missions given after the collection of the Honey Bee. This is all based on early impressions. This game is amazing, to say the least. The initial story build up is exciting, the game play itself is solid and feels fairly nice, the characters are compelling right off the bat, and there lies a certain lustre in open world infiltration. Probably one of the highlights is the wide range of ways in which one can approach a situation, all the way from running in and punching guards with your metal hand to sniping with a silenced rifle at the unsuspecting soldiers, all the while listening to jams from the 80s (if you so desire to use your Walkman). However, there is much potential for the game play to get stale, which is probably the worst fear. Already the side missions are becoming tedious repeats that I do out of the want for a 100% rather than the joy of the mission. That aside, this is definitely something I would recommend prospective buyers to try out, for its core is something that shines bright.

Game of the Year
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start off by saying, this game is one of the best games. The story line is so invigorating, with so many ways to play the game. You can either go into stealth mode and out smart your enemies, or you can go in, guns blazing, with your huge arsenal, or you can go into it with a mix of both! It's pretty much an open world game, with awesome missions, side missions, characters & character development, side kicks, engaging story line, and the list goes on. I think this game is high up there for Game of the Year(GOTY). I would like to recommend this game, but also weary to do so, being that it can be a little addictive =S.

One of the best MGS Games EVER
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Metal Gear Solid 5 Phantom Pain is an awesome metal gear solid game. the graphics are too real, probably some of the best graphics so far. The gameplay is solid, no problems or anything and the controls and how to perform basic combat is just insane. You will have a blast playing this game so I recommend getting it. I haven't mentioned the story cause it is too good to spoil. People who complain about the story are not true metal gear fans. Half of the story is in the cassette tapes, so listen to those while playing the game. Overall, Fantastic game!!!!

Great gameplay, the story is incomplete.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First of all the game play is awesome. The open world environment really gets you in the game. There is much more that could be done with it. The cut scenes the the series is known for are not as long our as informational as previous installment. This was supposed to tie up all the loose ends but it left more questions unanswered, still a great game. If this were not in the MGS series it would be heralded as a breakthrough, but I expected more, forth wall breaking, story line, and environmental interactivity.

MGS5: Phantom Pain is Kojima's Masterpiece
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you've been a fan of MGS back from the beginning you know the story history. The back story history is not dependent on playing this game, but it helps. This is very likely the last MGS game by Hideo Kojima and he puts out his best work yet! An open world to explore, crazy story lines, fantastic game play. It's like saying goodbye to an old friend in Snake, but if this is the last one, then I am completely satisfied with this game. It is a true masterpiece!

One of The Best In Open World
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Metal Gear is one of the few gems that define what it means to make an open world action adventure stealth game. The world is full possibilities and opportunities for every player and play style of choice. For those in search of a great story, explosive action, and we'll written dialogue should not pass this game up. I fully recommend it to every gamer out there looking for a dynamic experience

Amazing Open-World Metal Gear Solid Game!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Metal Gear Solid games have always been very well designed, but the player was always limited to small areas. Not anymore! The Phantom Pain lets players roam a massive open world and tackle sneaking missions in any manner they like. Create an explosion at the front of the base while you sneak in the back, knock out all communications in the base and watch the enemy panic as they can't call for help, attach C4 to the delivery truck driving into the center of the base, climb to the top of the mountain behind the base and snipe guards out of sight, or even play it like classic Metal Gear Solid and sneak in and out and complete your objective without the enemy ever knowing you were there. And besides the great stealth-action gameplay you can also improve your mother base by abducting guards and forcing them to join your ranks. Your base grows literally to a massive scale and you can fill it with all kinds of weaponry and even animals that you capture while out in the field. 10/10 game overall! Highly Recommended!

Amazing game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain boasts the best graphics and controls of the series. It rivals and surpasses the graphics and controls of most next-gen games out right now. In addition to the gameplay, the story is intense from the start. The amount of customization and freedom to roam the map is sure to occupy hours and hours of anyone's time.

Most Complete Game in Recent Memory
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To begin, like some others, I have never played a Metal Gear game before this. Before I picked up the game I watched a brief catch-up video of the Metal Gear series, to get a broad idea on the story. However, after putting over 50 hours into the game, there wasn't much need for the catch up. This game covers a big chunk of the story, through dialogue, and creates one of the best stories on the new generation of consoles. The open world is the best I have played, witnessed, or experienced in gaming, hands down. The landscape is superb, the graphics are incredible, and the AI is programmed to perfection. The little details that emerge through gameplay is truly remarkable. The series is Stealth based, definitely, but in this open world it allows you to chose your own path of success. You can decide how you want to infiltrate a base, whether it be stealth, run and gun, you name it, you can do it. There is so much to do in terms of interacting with your home base (Mother Base), customizing and developing weapons, and how you go about tackling this immense game. Metal Gear Solid V is not only a must buy for anyone new to the series or veterans, it is the greatest, most complete game that I have had the honor to play.
