    I was originally skeptical about purchasing the My Best Buy Plus membership. I thought that it was just another money-making venture for Best Buy and had no real value. Boy, was I ever wrong. A couple of weeks after I purchased this membership, I was in the store to buy a new Blu-Ray player. To my surprise, the clerk informed me that the price on a couple of items that I had previously purchased had been reduced and that I now had a refund of the difference available. After calculating the difference my refund came to almost $300.00. Needless to say, that refund more than paid for the cost of the Best Buy Plus membership.

    I got the My Best Buy Plus membership when I bought my MacBook, and it was totally worth it. The extended 60‑day return window gave me peace of mind on a big purchase. Easy to sign up, smooth to use, and I can see it paying for itself if you shop at Best Buy regularly. Definitely recommend for anyone buying expensive electronics!

    I bought the memebership shortly before Tax Free Weekend in MA (2025). The computer tower that I bought has gone on sale since then. I was reimbursed $50 via the Price Match Guarantee so the membership has paid for itself. I received two $25 gift certificates a few weeks after the purchase based upon the purchase price ($25 for every $250 spent). Unfortunately, the gift certificates expire after one month. I don't really need anything from Best Buy, but I'm forced to make a purchase or they go to waste. The membership is probably worth it if you make frequent purchases. If you only shop there a few times a year the membership is probably not for you.

    My Best Buy Plus is the middle tier of Best Buy’s membership program. It sits between the free basic membership and the higher-end Total tier. For about $49.99 per year, it adds perks over the free account that are aimed at frequent shoppers or people buying larger tech items. Which came in clutch for my MacBook Air purchase

    The young salesman was familiar with iWatches and fully answered all my questions about several versions of the watch. He asked if I was familiar with the Best Buy Plus membership. There is no Best Buy where I live in Fairbanks, Alaska. He took extra time to share the benefits of membership. He clearly said if the price should drop in the future 2-3 months that I would receive a refund coupon of up to $400 from my purchase and so it sounded good to me and I purchased the top of line Apple iWatch and the membership plan.

    The salespeople, installers and the Geek Squad who installed and set up my new TV and dishwasher were top class. The salespeople, Eric and Michael, were top class. They told us the pros and cons of the products we were looking at and explained everything in detail. They told us what options were available, but there was no pressure to purchase anything. They made great suggestions and demonstrated what the suggestions would do for us. I give Eric and Michael an A+, and I would recommend them to anyone who is interested in purchasing a TV or an appliance. Michael and Eric had very detailed knowledge of the products in their respective areas.

    In May, I purchased a new Apple TV. One of the Best Buy associates sold me on getting a Best Buy Plus membership. A few weeks later, there was a sale on Apple items. It included the Apple TV. The price was the same, but now it included a free remote control holder. I knew I would have to go to the store to acquire it. The store is pretty far away, but it gave me a good excuse to have lunch with my daughter. I talked to a couple of the associates there. They said I would have to return my Apple TV and then buy a new one. I told them that didn't make any sense because then they would lose money on the deal. They would have an open box item that they couldn't sell for the same price. I told them that I lived far away and it was the last day of the sale. I insisted on talking to a manager. I know sometimes regular employees have to tow the line, but I knew a manager could help. It took a few minutes for them to get a manager out for me. However, he was very accommodating. He said all he needed was the serial number of the device I purchased. We were able to locate it. He did a little manipulation on the computer to show that I had returned it, and then immediately repurchased it. He gave me the remote control holder. I know not all companies allow their lower-tier employees to do what is necessary to make a customer happy, but they should. Many years ago, my second job was working for La Quinta Inns. I don't know if it's still the case, but at that time, they gave the desk clerks authority to do whatever it took to make a customer happy, even if they had to give them the room free for the night. Just a little something to think about because I'm sure some corporate person will see this. So anyway, I have already recouped $10 of my $50 membership fee, with 11 months to go. I'm always watching the emails for specials. I'm probably going to need a new vacuum cleaner before too long and may have to replace my old dryer. I expect that my membership will help with those two items, if necessary.

    The Best Buy Plus membership has been well worth it. Free shipping, extended return windows, and member-only pricing make shopping much more convenient and cost-effective. I’ve already saved money through exclusive deals and faster delivery. It’s especially useful for tech purchases and upgrades, and the perks add up quickly if you shop at Best Buy regularly. If you buy electronics more than once or twice a year, the Plus membership easily pays for itself.

    Plus is Ok, but it could offer better benefits

    To be honest I haven’t seen a ton of value yet from being a paid Plus member. I use to qualify for this level just about every year for free back when it was under the reward membership program, but now that this level is behind a pay wall I’’m expecting more benefits more often for my paid subscription. At this time I’m thinking this service may not be something I continue with after this initial year, but we’ll see. I purchase a fair amount of either speciality or pre-order items from Best Buy (BB) that take longer processing times and do not benefit from the faster shipping aspect. The most beneficial part of being a Plus member currently is the extended return window, but with a catch! So, in years past I did not utilize returns much, it is a nice comfort but at the same time a bit of a pointless feature if there are no issues that require return…BUT here’s the catch, the one area where this does get 4/5 stars is during that extended return window the Price Match Guarantee is also extended…now this I have utilized numerous times to price match a purchase to Amazon prices as 8 out of 10 times Amazon will offer the same item at a lower price. I do like the special pricing/events, but have not yet seen “Plus pricing” on an item I actually am considering purchasing…some interesting items certainly but nothing that’s made me purchase, but I’m sure this will change. If you are not a Best Buy credit card holder I would absolutely not recommend Plus. If you are a credit card hold, who earn reward points then yes Plus is worth the now cost of a program that was once free. The 2-day shipping aspect is OK, but seeing as BB, like all retailers are in direct competition with Amazon, often 2-day shipping is still slower than what Amazon can/does offer on daily bases for being a Prime member. To be fair I was not a BB card holder I would not be a Plus member and most likely not be purchasing as much from BB these days as I have in the past. Earning point's for purchase for reward certificates is still the only true benefit keeping me a regular BB customer…all things being equal, Amazon is almost always cheaper and offers faster shipping. If BB didn’t price match and offer reward points there would be no real reason not use Amazon.

    Alright, let’s talk about Best Buy Plus Membership—is it actually worth the $49.99 a year? Short answer: Yeah, if you shop at Best Buy even semi-regularly, it pays for itself pretty fast. The Perks That Slap Free Shipping – No minimum order amount, which is a lifesaver if you hate paying for shipping on small stuff. (Looking at you, random $10 phone charger.) Exclusive Member Deals – Some discounts are actually solid, especially on bigger purchases like laptops, TVs, and gaming gear. Extended Return Window – You get 60 days to return most stuff, which is clutch if you’re indecisive. The Not-So-Great Stuff ⚠ Not Everything Ships Fast – While free shipping is dope, don’t expect Amazon Prime speeds on everything. Some items take a minute, especially if they’re not in a local warehouse. No Extra Warranty Perks – Unlike Best Buy Total, this membership doesn’t give you extended warranties or free Geek Squad support. Final Thoughts If you buy tech or appliances a few times a year, Best Buy Plus is a no-brainer—the shipping alone covers the cost. But if you were hoping for same-day shipping on everything, you might be a little let down. Verdict: 8.5/10 – Solid for frequent Best Buy shoppers, but not an Amazon Prime killer.

    5-year warranty -- worth it or not?

    Purchased 5yr warranty/membership to get at least 5 years usage from this flat panel tv. Some of the reviews stated that the QLED tv stopped working after a few months usage so I will find out if this happens to me. Hopefully this tv will keep working for at least 10 years! Products are not made as well today compared to the past 10-20 years ago.
