Never Buy it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would never recommend this product. The satellite never get connected with the base and when you loose power the settings on the Modem/router will be lost and you can have it back unless you pay enormous amount for technical support. You only get 90 days of free tech support even though they offer 1 year warranty. technically to use the warranty you pay after 90 days. most of the features parental controls and security would need you to pay additional to use it . technically you end up over $500 to have all features and technical support. customer support sucks. I made a big mistake that i bought it

Worked great, for a day…
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I set up the system and it worked great. I had great download speeds until the update happened. By the next day the satellite would not connect to the system. All my devices would only connect to the modem’s WiFi, thus defeating the purpose of the mesh system. I initially did the Ethernet connection to the modem and the tried wireless. I tried resetting it multiple times and it would work for a few minutes then the satellite would disconnect and become useless. Very disappointed.

Don't even think about it!
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing just refused to work and kept losing connectivity. One of the worst experiences in my life. I spent hours on the phone with Netgear tech support. They thought they fixed it but it always stopped again. I set up an appointment to have my cable company come out to check the lines since they said I was receiving a signal to my house. I bought an Asus router instead and haven't had an issue in the last 6 months. Canceled cable work order because it wasn't Cox at fault. Netgear wouldn't give a refund because I bought it at Best Buy so they told me to take it back there. Best Buy has a 15-day return policy and let me tell you they strictly enforce it. It was about 30 days when it stopped working but they didn't honor the 1-year warranty. I traded the junk to Amazon for a discount for a Ring camera and never looked back.

50/50 chance - HARD PASS on this product
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It worked great when i connected it initially. Speed dropped to 20mbps after 2 months. I called Netgear and they blamed the issue on ISP (Xfinity in my case). I had another set of calls with my ISP and they finally replaced the entire connection to my house. Still the speed issue was not resolved. When i called back Netgear and explained that it is the modem issue, the tried there maximum to push back saying it's not. Finally I reset the modem by pressing a pin in the back and it started working. It was issue with modem the whole time. I did not feel good about the support because I felt they already knew the issue was with the modem and they anyway blamed it on ISP. Therefore I went ahead and spend another $50 for taking the extended warranty which would cover the device for another 2 years. AND BOY IT HELPED !!! 2 months go by and same issue - 15mbps speed even though i had 1 gig plan. They started blaming the ISP and we went round and round. I got frustrated and started blaming them for faulty device. Agent finally agreed to issue a new modem. Hopefully the new modem would work longer. But my feeling is that it is still not working properly because my TV still buffers when watching youtube videos. I get by because i am too tired to troubleshoot it again. i spent around 8 to 10 hours altogether on the previous calls.

Shady Buisness Practice
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would give it 0 if I could, this is a greedy company that isn't trying to sell you a cable modem router. I remember when I bought one of the 700mbs cable modem router range, it was easy to set up, have decent range and still works to this day but the last generation of Netgear is terrible and current gen is worse. You could at least connect online with ethernet connect without being forced to sign digitally to consent for Netgear to collect your data and sell it to the highest bidder, I mean "share with their partners for better experience". You can't connect via ethernet nor WiFi without consenting to collect your data and sell it and you can't sue them if you sign digitally.

Great idea, not great product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Returned as the Orbi base modem/router would not acknowledge signal coming in, of course that meant no broadcast out. Great concept for all in one unit but just didn't work, even after a phone call to Netgear lasting almost 1-1/2 hours to trouble shoot. Wasted money and time.

Never worked over 30mbs download
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We could never get the download channels to lock. We wasted too many hours. max download speed was 30mbs (service goes up to 250mbs). Cox is our provider and says their side is fine and worked fine with our old Motorola Surfboard. Netgear support was terrible with no real help. Returning this product.

Pathetic to connect
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Too difficult to connect to new device. Mostly old IoT are not connecting. I did connected by removing WiFi password protection for few mins and then connected. Re enabled WiFi password. Satellite is , sitting in same room for more than 3 days. Tried connecting by clicking synch button from app, from web portal, from satellite service, from main device. All options are tried. Still not connecting.

HARD PASS! Trust me on this...
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second Orbi product and an utter disappointment. For whatever reason, even though my base station and satellite are placed in the EXACT locations of my older Orbi setup (roughly 90 feet apart...well within their specs), the satellite barely puts out 10 mbps (old version put out 250 mbps+). If I unplug the new satellite, I get 450 mbps from my base router at the satellite location. My home is only 1600 sq feet, easily within the specs that Netgear touts (they indicates works in homes up to 3,500 sq. feet). I wanted the satellite to be able to push wifi signal out to my backyard for IoT devices. I've spent hours on support calls, upgraded firmware, hard reboots multiple times, had the satellite replaced, and no difference. It was close to impossible for Netgear to finally agree to replace the satellite. My admin screen shows GOOD backhaul to the satellite (of course it does) but it's only pushing 10 mbps. At this point I've completely lost faith in Netgear. I've had Nighthawk modems and a previous Orbi set up with no issues.

Hidden purchase required.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product shout have a warning on the packaging that a firewall, that is only available at an exra cost, is required to get the modem to function. I was on the phone with my ISP and the Netgear tech support at the same time when i was told this by the Netgear tech support. Needless to say I returned the product, which required a four hour round trip. Don't buy this unless you are willing to spend money on a hidded cost.

Worst cable modem router combo I've ever used!
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had nothing but consistent issues with this device pretty much since owning it! Their preferred method for installing the device is via the app which doesn't work, even to this day! If you do buy this device, you're better off using a browser on your laptop to install it. The wifi connection is super unstable and I lose connection very often although I'm beside the router and it's supposedly covers 5,000 sq ft. I have been working with Netgear support for almost a year now on these issues with no resolve yet. Save your money and buy a device from a reputable company that prioritizes quality service, parts and support.

Mesh Mess
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After a few weeks of use, I had to return this product. I wanted to love the integration of cable modem and mesh system, but alas it was nothing but troubles. Constant dropped wifi and needed resets. Netgear help is outsourced overseas. While easy to contact, the solutions never helped. Poor quality for the price.
