I’ve waited for a sequel to the original Ni No Kuni since it was released on PS3 in 2011.
Ni No Kuni 2 delivers on brining the series onto the PS4 and updating many things that made the original a success. It has a very compelling story, the graphics although look cartoony - play very well, and I really enjoy the real time battle system. My only negatives are that it should have more voice acting and even though I enjoy the battles - the game is a little on the easy side. Ni no kuni games have never been ones that required you to grind for levels and it really shows when you are taking down enemies that are five levels higher than you. Another nice piece for the series is the kingdom builder - it adds an extra element that will both side you in your travels as well as bump up the number of hours logged in the game. I was able to beat Ni No Kuni 2 in about 40 hours and that does not include any of the additional content coming with the Season Pass. Overall, well worth the $48 paid to get an immersive RPG to fill your time until God of War comes out in a few weeks! :)

A much easier journey than the first game, but still satisfying to play. The combat system is much simpler and the difficult spikes are firm but fair. Beautiful music and visuals. Side quests are pretty boring, but the main story is great.

I'm thoroughly enjoying the game so far but it's definitely not going to appeal to everyone. If you've played the first game then there's quite a few things done differently. To start off, the familiars are gone. Whether you are happy or not for this will depend on how you felt about that system. It is replaced with very standard Action RPG combat you can find in games like the Tales of Series and Kingdom Hearts. Characters can equip multiple weapons, learn skills (not the same as learning spells) and equip a sub weapon.
What if you didn't play the first game? Well NNK2 stands on its own and doesn't really have much of a connection with the exception of a bit of location lore. Gameplay wise, the game is fast, fluid and beautiful but it's pretty easy. There's no difficulty settings to select so you're not going to struggle much if you've played a few JRPGs. Storywise, NNK2 isn't the strongest. The game focuses more on you assisting with King Evan quest to build his kingdom than resolving any conflicts or hunting down a primary villian. Cutscenes are short and voiced acted scenes are few and far between. You'll do more battling than you will reading/listening. For the story that the game does have, it's a pretty standard story of a young boy wanting to bring people together and live happily ever after (literally).
One of the biggest parts of NNK2 is kingdom building. This is where things can drastically shift based on the player. Kingdom building is where you recruit your citizens, build different shops you can profit off and do some sidequests. This is a huge part of the game and partially optional. Do you need to fully max it out? No but there is a certain point you have to hit with your kingdom to continue the main story. So if you don't like the city management aspect of this game then that might be a bit of a problem.
All in all, it's an enjoyable JRPG if you want a somewhat relaxing time. The biggest complaint I have is that the text while running around is incredibly tiny and autoscrolls far too fast for most people to be able to read. And I do wish some more of the game was voice acted as I feel that some of the scenes lost their impact due to their silence.

I really enjoyed the first game in the series and the second one is just as good. There are some major gameplay differences from the first game in the series but its for the better in my opinion. If I had to complain about anything it would probably be that it's really easy. The wonderful art design and beautifully orchestrated music make up for the difficulty though. Well worth the time and it's a great story even though the main character can sound like a whiny kid at times (maybe because he is). Also don't worry if you never played the first game. The story of this game can stand alone on its own and only references the first game in minor moments.

Ni No Kuni 2 delivers in sooo many ways, unfortunately difficulty isn't one of them. I don't think every game needs to be Dark Souls or harder but if you tend to like doing every side quest you see you'll soon be over powered. That doesn't take away from the magic of the world though! The Ghibli-like art style is charming as can be but it doesn't deliver the compelling story that more serious RPG's or even the first game delivered. That being said there are multiple activities that keep this game interesting from beginning to end including the fun action oriented combat (light attack, heavy attack, dodge, etc), puzzles, collecting Higgledee companions, or the silly chibi style skirmishes. It is fun and deep enough for any RPG fan and easy enough for younger gamers to conquer.

Glows
-Gorgeous visuals and art style
-Responsive controls
-Great voice acting
-Straightforward story
-Classic JRPG elements
Grows
-Not fully voiced
-A bit easy, especially if you grind a little
-Some plot holes
Overall a fun and enjoyable game with classic JRPG features and story elements. This game is very easy to get into and has a diverse cast of characters throughout the adventure. The kingdom building mechanic can be fun but at times becomes a burden that can halt your development. If you are into old school JRPGs then this is a can't miss. If you are into new school RPGs then the real time action based battle system should be what you're looking for. Overall I would recommend this game to any fan of RPGs.

This is first off the finest sequel so far to any RPG I seen so far for the PS4. Only level 5 and Namco return in making this titles but hints of Studio Ghibli is in the game. The battle system is so much better then the first tile that was released on the PS3. This game has multi fighting styles. in here like simulator and so on. The animation is so awesome too. the story is great too for any age that loves anime. The music is once again outstanding. There will be tear shedding scenes in the game too.

Ni No Kuni 2 had the potential to be truly amazing but unfortunately underwhelms in a few areas. The biggest issue is the game's lack of difficulty. Why it doesn't have a few difficulty options is beyond me. You could probably get through most fights just spamming square. The kingdom building mechanic however, is really great. I had a blast trying to find every citizen, managing resources, and expanding my kingdom to the max. Fans of jrpgs would definitely enjoy this game.

Great Art

The game has many good features, the combat, the kingdom building, and most importantly the art. It feels as if you have stepped in a Studio Ghibli film made into an interactive experience (with the exception of the sprites you walk around as in the world map). The combat is great, if a little easy, and the story is about what you would expect, but the art makes it all worthwhile.

This game just keeps having me coming back! It is absolutely beautiful with every details and the gameplay is just awesome! Much better battle system then the first one. Storyline is a bit weak but all the things you can do in the game makes up for that. Typical RPG fighting, open world, build a kingdom, battle in tiny battles, or do side missions!

A modern classic JRPG that uses fast paced combat with as much depth as you want. You can make it simple or make the crafting or kingdom building as complex as you want. Tons of quests to do with most being unique and each character is unique to the story and other quests. Decent story but fantastic gameplay.

Unlike the first one which was developed in partnership with Studio Ghibli, this sequel is only an imitation of Studio Ghibli's style, but at least the music and score is still created by Joe Hisaishi and it's as good as ever. The combat gameplay is more like a traditional action RPG ala the Tales series this time, you do not control familiars but instead get boosts and supports by little sprites called Higgledies which are cute. I have to say the story is somewhat interesting, although very out there and without spoiling anything I really wish we could also accomplish the same in our world. Without further ado, I heartily recommend this for gamers who love RPGs with good story, good characters and lovely music, especially if you loved the style and flavor of the first game.

Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom succeeds where one would expect, offering up a lovingly created world filled with lively, likable, and beautifully animated characters that players will care about and want to help.
It contains loads of strategic options for players who want to dig into them -- including the option to switch weapons, pick abilities, and call on the power of cute little creatures -- but button mashers won't have any trouble burning through most clashes.
The new kingdom building system is fun, too.
Constructing new facilities, staffing them with citizens, and researching new magic and technologies to grow both the kingdom and your party's abilities is blissfully easy.
Summary: Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom is a fine follow-up to one of the best Japanese RPGs in recent years.

80+ hours in and its still fun. Combat is great. Side quests can get a bit repetitive but that is to be expected with a game that you could play for hundreds of hours. Overall I am enjoying it and the art style which is beautiful.

Have you guys ever seen a Miyazaki movie? Well this is like that, but in video game form. It was done by Studio Ghibli, so it has that same artistic charm that his movies have. Be forewarned though, the story is not nearly as good as a Miyazaki movie, but regardless, it is an enjoyable one. The gameplay is fun though it tends to be on the easier side, I did not mind it at all. I enjoyed this game throughout the story and it's a good JRPG. JRPG fans will enjoy this, but if you are asking whether this game is amazing and worthy of yours double digit hours as a hardcore JRPG fan, that can be questionable. It doesn't really stand out among JRPGs but it is among the middle of the bunch.

I'm not normally into jrpgs, in fact Ni No Kuni is pretty much the only jrpg that I could not stop playing. I never played the original Ni No Kuni, but I know the original was turn based fighting (like persona/Pokemon) vs No No Kuni 2 being live action fighting (like Hyrule warriors). I definitely prefer the live action fighting because turn based is just too slow and time consuming. The higglies are adorable and I am still trying to collect them all. I really hope they make a third game as this game was absolutely gorgeous and fun.
