Fantastic Nikon flash! I never worked with Flash before and picked this up to do some headshots for coworkers. I wanted something compatable with my Nikon D7500 and almost professional grade without spending too much. This definitely hit the nail on the head. It was easy to learn how to use, I only took some time the day before to practice and the headshots came out great! It comes with all the small accessories you would need for on-the-go flash photography. It's durable and reliable, (I was never waiting for the flash ro recharge) and it lasted about 3+ hours on one set of batteries. Also, if you want to upgrade to a fully professional flash setup you can use this as a slave flash for dynamic lighting. This is definitely one of the best additions to my photography setup. Only downside is it takes AAs, but you can't beat the quality and functionality.

I purchased this unit for a night time shoot.
I didn't want to over power the exposures and was able to ramp down the flash to use just enough power to light the subject without killing the background.
I'm really familiar with all things Nikon, so it was not hard for me to figure out how to use almost all of the functions without going through the manual.
This SB-700 is a winner for me because it can provide a LOT of light or just enough. What I mean is, I don't need to buy a small flash unit and also a big one. So, I am very happy that I don't need to figure out which flash unit to put on the camera when I can just use one for day, night, fill, etc.

I own 3 of these lights. I use them on and off my camera. On my camera they provide great lighting both indoors and out. In my studio I use the together to provide even lighting for the perfect picture.

This my 3rd SB700. I do professional photography & I love having a durable but compact flash. I use it as a main flash or as a slave flash. I would definitely recommend it to others.

I been using it for 2 months and I’m happy with the results, operating system is friendly use. The only thing that would be nice if it was a rechargeable, instead of 4 AA batteries. The batteries did last me through a 6hr quince photoshoot.

had this flash for a few months now, so far I'm pretty happy with it. it is far superior to my sb-400 in every way except how fast the sb-400 sets up and how compact it is. I am very pleased with the flashes capabilities over all. the only negative parts, that I am not a fan of are the turn on switch, and its "wireless" remote mode. I guess I should not expect the flash to trigger totally wireless. It still requires to see the built in flash trigger and cannot totally go out of line of sight. the on switch does not feel that great and I don't like the center lock for the switch to go into remote mode or coming out of it. that one area feels flimsy and like I could break it and it requires two hands to properly do so. I have handled the sb-600/900 both great items as well. the 900 is still the king overall among the group. and the 600 lacks the nice new controls and remote function. over all the 700 is worth the $329 price tag. $499 for the 900 is steep right now. If you are looking for a great back up flash for your 900 this is a great alternative to save some $$. I also suggest the extended "hazzard" damage warranty. their basic warranty won't cover physical breakage at all. I do enough outdoor photography to justify it.

This is and extremely versatile flash that comes with many accessories including a stand-alone stand for it, a tungsten and florescent filter, and a dome diffuser! Plus it works great with my D7000 or D5000. It also has the awesome option of command mode where I can use my built-in wireless transmitter in my D7000 to control it remotely! Awesome! Extremely bright!

I bought the SB-700 yesterday for my D3000, I also have a D60 and a SB-600 Flash that I have had for about a year, the 600 and 700 work great together, useing the 700 as a primary light and the 600 as a fill or back light
Next is light stand and umbrella

I purchased the SB-700 to pair with my D610 and its a wonderful combination. I love the simplicity of it of using involved for doing off camera flash setup by setting the built in flash to commander mode. To this point the I haven't noticed the use of the flash draining the batteries. So far have taken about 750 photo's using the flash and the batteries seem to be holding a good charge. So cycle time for the flash has been pretty quick so I haven't had any issue or delays with the cycle time for when its ready for the next shoot.

Flash works beautifully. I was shopping around and was going to get a budget flash but decided to spend the money and get the Nikon. It has worked flawlessly without issues every time. Very easy to use. If you’re out all day and using the flash bring extra batteries. The 4 AA’s should net you about 100-140 shots (depending on which batteries you use). The battery level is shown on the display.

This is a great flash. Powerful and flexible. It really makes it easy to take great, natural looking pictures.
The only flaw is the size, it's pretty big. Even so, I take it everywhere.
