    This is the second Onkyo receiver I had to return in less than a day! Both these receivers broke within minutes of setting it up. Also, the second one got very hot within seconds of operation to where I couldn’t touch it due to the heat…INSTANT RETURN! BTW, I’ve had 2 receivers in 40 years & now, in the advanced technological age, I’ve had 3 in two days! Btw, Onkyo owns Pioneer so stay away from that product as well. They like to play stupid games when you make a warranty claim. I’ve replaced the Onkyos with Sony & I also purchased a fan ($59) to help it stay cool…I do not trust these new age receivers!

    bought the ONKYO TXS494 just before Christmas 2025 as open-box/GOOD as new with GEEK SQUAD protection plan. 8 weeks later I was listening to music, it shut down and would only come on in diagnostic mode/no sound. GEEK SQUAD says it can't be repaired and issued refund minus protection plan. Now, no AVR and a useless, wasted protection plan.

    Used it for about a month now and works good no complaints haven’t gotten to used it to its full potential only 5.1 surround sound. By next week ill have it at 7.1

    It lasted 3 minutes then fried. Absolute junk. Made an 80 mile round trip to purchase, made an 80 mile round trip to return. Total waste of time. Nothing like my old Onkyo receiver. “They don’t make em like they used to”.
