My child really enjoyed this movie and believed that it had a lot of meaning.

I vaguely remembered parts of the original "Pete's Dragon", and although it's nostalgic it's pretty silly. This remake wisely avoids the silliness and the singing, and changes the story and location completely. It's an exhilarating, exciting, and heartfelt film that was evidently, truly crafted with love and care. Pete's relationship with Elliott is one for the ages -- two best friends -- and you'll definitely get an emotional lump in your throat more than a few times. The entire cast is excellent, starting with Oakes Fegley as Pete. He's a remarkable young talented actor. I've never cared much for Bryce Dallas Howard before, but I liked her a lot here in her character. And what a treat to have Robert Redford in the film; he's scruffy and warm and wise here. The thrilling action scenes are well balanced by the more intimate, emotional dramatic scenes. I watch it frequently.

I was amazed at the picture quality considering the resolution is 720 DPI. Also it is surprisingly light which makes it very portable. We purchased it for use in our RV but are using it upstairs in our house when we are not on the road. I can tuck it under my arm and easily climb the stairs with it. The DVD player is in the back but is quite easy to locate by touch. Make sure to insert the DVD with the label facing away from you. It is not Blue Ray but it works fine. I am very satisfied with the purchase.

While I was growing up in the 1990s, the original Pete's Dragon from the '70s was on TV, and I didn't really enjoy it too much, so I wasn't expecting much from the new movie. However, I really loved this movie - the actors were all splendid, the score was nice, and the story was interesting. The pace was excellent. It's a great family movie, but definitely not corny. It's a sophisticated, heartwarming, enjoyable, family movie. Highly recommended.

This movie was wonderful it brought me back to my childhood and I'm now a senior watching it with my grandchildren. It was fanciful and fun I laughed and was fearful at times what may happen next. It captivated the imagination in all of us which is why the movie is so great! I saw it at the theatre and knew I had to buy it when it came available so I could watch as often as I wanted with all of my grandchildren and great grandchildren as well. It's a movie to really enjoy!

Pete's Dragon is another of the Disney remakes using live action actors and realistic CGI effects. Modern cinematic technology can now use seamless blends of reality and fantasy to produce what only animation was able to do in the past. In this case, Pete, a lost boy is found living in the woods by a forest ranger, but he is not alone. His best friend and companion is a mythical, but oh so real, lovable flying dragon, and with that information the adventure begins.

Disney has another winner – this Fantasy is a story about a Green Dragon named Elliott who is best friends with Pete – an 8 year-old-boy. It’s a delightful and “fun” view for the entire family and, it’s also a big kid’s adventure movie that could be a celebration of our world and what’s around us – perhaps you will agree it is that way after you have seen this fetchingly worthy film

No singing or silly characters in this version update, but it is a nice family movie. It starts out on a sad note for little Pete and on a very real level involving a car crash with parents and Pete in the car. So. . nothing visually gross, but this is how Pete meets and is adopted by Eliot the Dragon. All in all, a nice movie and even out 4 year old grand daughter loved it, but required some comforting during "scary" parts.

Disney has done it again with a wonderful remake of one of their older live action movies. A touching adventure of an orphaned boy named Pete and his best friend Elliot, who is a dragon that you immediately love and would take home in a heartbeat. It is filled with family themes that promote loyalty, love, sacrifice, and hope. Great casting and visually beautiful to watch. It will be a favorite in our family!

I vaguely remember the classic Pete's Dragon from my childhood in Grandma's living room. I have no idea how this relates to the original, but if it was as good as this one was, I would have watched it many more times. Robert Redford was great and all of the visual effects and music were on point. I really enjoyed it and have watched it and all the special features a few times.

The original Pete's Dragon has always been a favorite of mine so I was a bit nervous about watching this remake but I was not disappointed at all. They have done an amazing job with this one and it may be my new fave! I highly recommend it, without any hesitation.

Pete's Dragon is a fun, feel-good movie for all ages to enjoy. It is filled w/ lots of lol antics, adventure and suspense. Even the dragon is so believably done w/ his incredible detail, mischievous & fun nature, that everyone will want to have one as a friend.

Out of all the many films that I saw which came out in 2016, this was my favorite out of them all. As a fan of the original 1977 musical film, I was cautious about the completely different story. However, it is an amazing masterpiece simply inspired by the 1977 version. Packed full of emotions, this movie was fun to watch with children, teenagers, and adults alike. Watch it!

This movie is not a re-make of the previous Pete's Dragon which was partially a musical and animated. It follows the same premise of the Dragon - imaginary or not you will have to watch the movie to find out - no spoiler here! It is a great movie for all members of your family and you would not be disappointed in its story plot and deliverance by the actors in it.

This film is great. We purchased because we had heard very good reviews from several friends. We loved the original and our youngest son is named after the dragon. He was absolutely blown away when we sat down to watch it - hearing his name in association with a dragon! My wife and I have have watched it twice with the kids since. One of Disney's better films as of late.

Petes Dragon is one of my new favorite Disney movies and I have a lot of those. It was beautiful from the story to the graphics. I cry in movies often but this one made me cry in both happy and sad moments more than most any other movie has. It's just that good. I would recommend Petes Dragon to just about anyone. Great movie, worth the watch and purchase.

If you are thinking you are seeing a remake of the original Disney classic, you are fantastically wrong :) BUT with that said, this version still have the Disney magic you know and love, maybe even moreso than the original. It pulls on your heartstrings, and be sure to have your Kleenex ready. Fantastic movie that I know your whole family will enjoy!

The tale of an imaginary dragon comes to life. Pete is raised in the wild where he befriends a dragon and so the adventure begins. The bond is tested when Pete must decide to stay with a loving family or his loving dragon. This movie try's your emotions and has you routing for everyone. There are Many funny scenes.
