Well let me tell you this is a great Pioneer Double-Din I've always been the Kenwood excelon fan and purchased kenwood Products so this year I give it a try by buying a pioneer 4200 what I liked about this unit is Android auto basically all of theFutures that it has lots of people complain that the audio quality isn't that good but let me tell you it's really good audio quality the crossovers an equalizer really makes it fine tuning plus when you play music videos onto USB you get really fine tuning video and audio quality I had the Kenwood excelon 9903s didn't see that much difference in audio quality plus it was hard to adjust the eq and crossover as other reviews yes the kenwood looks more fancier but that is just it plus the Pioneer is detachable which is an extra thumbs up people I wouldn't hesitate to buy the Pioneer over the Kenwood for security reasons your vehicle getting vandalized even with the sophisticated alarm thieves still be trying to break into it when they see any car stereo that is not detachable

This radio has really good sound qualities. The display is crisp and clean not to mention all of the goodies of the HDMI port and Apple car play.

First let start out by saying i am a diehard kenwood fan. But when comparing this radio to the kenwood it has the same features plus u can remove the screen! Also it was a $100.00 cheaper than the kenwood. So I took a chance and diffently was not disappointed!!! The sound quaility on this radio is amazing.

I purchased this replace the factory stereo in my F-150. I wanted CarPlay and did my research and found this to be the best. Easy to install and works as intended. It is easy to switch from the OEM software to CarPlay. It is a little bit more than the other dedicated CarPlay stereos but after doing the research and the fact that I would be investing +$500 into the project I wanted to get the right system. The consultant at Best Buy was very helpful.

I purchased a 2003 Ford F-150 which had the stock radio in place. No Bluetooth, no way to charge my phone. Oh how spoiled we have become! This radio is fantastic! On screen controls, even came with a little remote. It uses my iPhone settings and Siri for music and the GPS for mPs so it's all very compact. You could even tie in back up cameras if you wanted and watch DVDs (never when driving). Detachable face so you don't have to leave it in your car and lose it to thieves. It even has a neoprene protective case. This is a great radio and worth the price.

This unit works very well with my Galaxy S7 phone and Sirius Radio. It also allowed me to add a backup camera that shows as soon as I put my truck into reverse. A very good choice for an upgrade from my factory radio/cs player.

I was looking to install an Android Auto head unit into my 2013 Ford Focus. This product was in my price range and had the features I was looking for. I used the Scosche FD6200B dash kit and Scosche FD02SR wiring interface kit. I was concerned because the FD02SR kit doesn't officially support steering wheel controls for Pioneer head units. I discovered that connecting the FD02SR as is, without cutting any wire loops (Sony head unit setting), worked well. Apparently Sony and Pioneer head units use very similar wired remote protocols. I am very happy with the install as I've retained my steering wheel media controls and would recommend this head unit to anyone in the market for an Apple Car Play or Android Auto head unit.

Pleased with stereo. Installation employee was outstanding. Negative was the fact that inside sales sold us a system For a vehicle that didnt have an available install kit. Installer had to fabricate on he spot so he install is not a clean as it should be.

This unit is awesome! The sound quality is outstanding and it has a ton features! The apple play support is okay. I fully recommend this product.

Bought this unit (about 8 months ago) because of a small parking lot accident I had with my pick-up truck. I could not see a small Lexus (figures) behind my truck and I backed into it. Not much damage but I just could not see the car at all. I decided to install a rear view camera. I did not want a separate screen but rather, something mounted in the dash. This Pioneer fit the bill. It is a bit more radio that I really needed but I wanted to also use the Android Auto app in my truck and this is the lowest priced Pioneer radio (at the time) that was available with that feature. The screen is clear and bright. I find the menus pretty intuitive. The sound is great using my truck's stock speakers.It was able to hook up to my steering wheel buttons and most of the functionality remained. I just can't seem to figure out how to make a phone call from my steering wheel anymore. (I used to be able to press a button and have voice commands dictate who I wanted to call, etc.) Now, those buttons are dedicated to something else and I have to touch the screen on the radio to make a call. Not a big deal for me because I don't initiate phone calls while driving. I can however answer an incoming phone call quite easily without taking my eyes off the road. I think this has much more to do with the interface between the radio and the steering wheel than the radio itself. I think I can bring it back to BestBuy for "reprogramming" and they could fix it. The backup camera is clearly displayed on the Pioneer's screen. I installed a Pioneer back-up camera system as well. (There are many fine systems out there.) I can see most everything from about one foot behind the truck to 100' back. Nice and wide, too! The radio allows you to input overlaid lines on the screen so you can designate safe movement left and right, and reverse. I like it and use it all the tijme. The receiver itself is loaded with features. I use XM radio, HD radio, CD and input from my phone. (They could not use the factory installed antenna or satellite receiver on the new Pioneer, I had to purchase all those items specifically for the Pioneer at the cost of about another $125.) I also use Android Auto and it shows up right on the screen and verbal messages come through my truck's speaker system. It is great. It is every bit as good, if not better, than factory install GPS systems. And you have added features of the phone available as well. Two bad things is the glare and figure prints. In my truck (it may be different in yours) the radio sits a a slant of about 15 degrees with the top leaning towards the front of the truck. This allows the face of the radio to reflect "sky" from the windshield. Despite how bright and clear the screen is, the sun can wash it out. I made a small "visor" with my 3D printer to shade the sun. It blends into the decor of my truck and most people would not notice it as being out of the ordinary. The screen can be tilted back but not forward. This could have been resolved had I been able to tilt the top of the screen towards the back of the truck. And finger prints are inevitable on any touch screen. Just realize they will show up when to sun hits the screen and they will look unsightly. When the screen is out of the sun they barely show up. I "micro cloth" clean the screen regularly. Over all I love the radio. I would have given it 5 stars had the tilt issue been different and the finger prints less noticeable.

After a lot of research I pulled the trigger on this radio. I knew I would need some components to make it work in my car for full OEM integration. (Infinity Amplifier, steering wheel controls, OEM Sirius antenna, and factory backup camera.) I went with the HYKIA-01 Interface harness. This covered making the radio work with the OEM Infinity Amplifier and speakers.This hardness also comes with ASWC-1 steering wheel control adapter. I also ordered a Fakkra Sirius antenna adapter to use the factory antenna. Lastly, I ordered AX-CAM6V for the factory camera to work. I brought all of these components to my Best Buy Installer with wiring directions that I had found specifically for my vehicle 2013 Kia Optima SX Turbo using all these components. The installer said not a problem and went to work. I am very please with the outcome. Android Auto is awesome, Sirius with the album art is great too. Musically it sounds great and hooking up my Rockford Fosgate sub and amp was a breeze. I am really pleased with the whole experience at Best Buy.

I purchased this radio about two months ago. I was perfectly happy with the radio that came with my Nissan Frontier but I had no backup camera. I recently backed into a Lexus (it was low enough that I could not see it over the bed of the truck) and decided I needed a backup camera. The solutions for backup cameras are many but most were unacceptable to me. I needed a display in the dash and not on the dash, stuck to the dash, on the mirror, etc. This radio met that requirement with a (I think) two video inputs. The radio had to have Satellite radio, HD radio, and be controllable by my existing steering wheel buttons. Oh, and it had to have Android Auto. (It also supports Apple Car Play.) This was the least expensive Pioneer radio that met all the above criteria. That's how my $150 backup camera ballooned to $1300 major install. :-) Best Buy did the install for me. I am getting too old to crawl around my truck and dig under the dash. They did an excellent job and were easy to work with. Anyway. the radio is fantastic. It does everything you want in a radio and more. The display is clear and concise. The sound is clear and concise with a built-in equalizer so you can use any one of several pre-programmed settings or create your own. The menus are for the most part intuitive and I found it easy to set up. The issues came with installing Android Auto (AA). (By the way, We also installed Apple Car Play and it was easy, without a hitch. No issues.) First, there are two USB inputs in the back of the radio; one for Apple Car Play and one for Android Auto. The instructions are not very clear in the sense that it says "USB input 2 is for Android Auto" But there is an arrow pointing to it with a big number "1" . That indicates to me that the other USB input is "USB 2" but no,the arrow "1" is pointing to "USB 2." So we plugged the USB cable into the wrong input and tried to install AA while attached to a Apple Car Play USB port. We finally figured that out and got the right cable in the right USB port. But in my infinite wisdom of utilizing the radio to its fullest ie, both AA and Apple Car Play, I brought another USB cable with me to Best Buy and they left the Pioneer supplied USB Cable in the Apple Car Play jack and installed the Samsung OEM cable into the AA jack. That just opened up another can of worms. It seems that AA is very cable sensitive. I could install AA on an old Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport I had without issue. Worked great. Could only partially install it on my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. Sometimes it would work...for a little while. Sometimes the radio would never see the phone and visa versa. We were pulling our hair out and finally we just swapped the two USB cables in the back of the radio. Now the Cable in the AA was the original cable supplied with the radio and it works 100% of the time. The Apple Car Play works 100% of the time. Go figure. So the issue is cables. AA is very sensitive on some phones to the particular cable that is plugged into the back of the radio. I din't know why. But hopefully you will learn from this and not run into the same problems. Over all the AVH-4200NEX is a fantastic radio. I would buy it again.

Purchased this stereo for the Android Auto option. Somewhat disappointed with Android Auto because when your phone is plugged in you cannot access phone except thru the stereo which limits what you or a passenger can do with phone. Using bluetooth does not seem to cause these limits but you need to be plugged in using android auto for maps. Maps/GPS works great but you will be very limited on what else you can use phone for while using it as a GPS. I am happy with everything else with this stereo: sound quality, 2 backup camera inputs and ease of use. Another thing thing I wish pioneer would change is when you make adjustments such as turning sub on and off, the sound level goes to zero and then back on. Hard to make a good comparison of the changes you make. ( minor complaint)

2017 Subaru WRX. My stock system sounded AWFUL, like the speakers weren’t getting enough power. So I decided let’s start with a new head unit, needed an excuse to get something with CarPlay and Android Auto. Geek Squad did the install, instantly the problem was solved. No additional speakers or subs needed. Install was done in about 3hrs and the job was very clean.

I have a Toyota Sienna Limited that already had a nice radio but I love my toys and I used to be a big bass head years ago and had my eye on this head unit for months. Low and behold it went on a sale I couldn't pass up. I love how it has Android Auto, there are few radios that do. Seems like Apple Car Play leads the pack for now. I have always loved Pioneer and this one looks great. I love how you can connect this to your OBD2 sensor to get real time vehicle data right on the screen. I get more options than I did with the stock radio. Definitely a winner

Great radio - like the Apple Car Play - would have preferred dials for tuning and volume, but getting use to the touch screen. No problem with glare as reported in some reviews. Best Buy was able to make this work with my steering wheel controls, so happy overall with the purchase.

I bought this for my 2006 Jetta because I wanted bluetooth for my iPhone. This works so well. I love that it utilizes all the apps on my phone and I get navigation with it. Great sound too. Highly recommend.

When I went looking for a new stereo for my car, I wanted satellite radio, a reverse camera, and navigation. I spoke with the installer (he should know!) and he recommended this unit. After driving cross-country and back with this unit, I could not be happier. Use the Android Auto (or Apple Car Play) for navigation and you'll never need to hold your phone again. Loved it so much, I put it in my other car. I have nothing negative to say about the unit, except it may be going away soon and will probably be replaced with something of less quality. Get it while you can!

Excellent head unit with Apple Car Play capability. Powerful output - great sound. Lots of features and apps for the money. Nicely done Pioneer!

I dont even know where to start. I have my old ipod on one usb and my s7 on the other. I frequently talk to my car now with Android Auto. I can say 'text <name> <message>" to easily and reliably send texts. "Drive to <destination>" for instant navigation. It doesnt incorporate Waze just yet but that has been the number one requested addition to Android Auto and there is talk of it coming via update shortly. Sometimes it's hard to decide which music source to listen to with so many choices between pandora, amazon music, spotify, HD Radio, XM, IPod, CD, etc... You can adjust the colors to match any interior lighting scheme so that the deck appears as good as a factory set up. If the sun is making the face diffult to see, you can tilt the face for a better view. The list of features this unit supports is way too long to mention, never mind comment on. Sound is powerful, EQ makes fine tuning a breeze. It will honestly give an interior with an older stereo a fresh new updated look. It made the work commute MUCH more enjoyable. The BIOS update was quick and easy using a USB flash drive and following the online instructions and a how to video on YouTube. For my first Pioneer, very happy with my purchase.
