Winner Winner Chicken Dinner (302 Sound Driver)

Pioneer - Elite VSX-LX302 has been a great addition to a Media room (14 x 18) just upgraded to Epson 5040UB and Sony UBP X800 DVD for 4k theater experience. It was a walk in on Black Friday and the Magnolia consultant let me know this was an excellent receiver for $699 ($400 Black Friday). Was looking at other AV receivers but am glad I took this Best Buy Representatives advice. This receiver drives my 7.2 theater room like no other I have owned. (Onkyo & Yamaha). The sound processing power and Pass through 4K made it a no brainer. The sound processing of Dolby ATMOS is immersive to the viewing exsperince. My Yamaha Speakers (in wall) came to life and have never sounded so good. The 302 has excellent build quality and power distribution. The movies literally blow us away. The only downside is my wife makes me use Bluetooth Headphones because the base (Dual Polk Subs) and sound literally shake the 2400 square foot house with a movie explosion. But with Blue tooth and Internet connectivity the AV unit sounds excellent with Sony 950 Extra Bass (Excellent Surround) Headphones. After building and Upgrading my home Theater 3 times I finally got it right. The 302 is a winner buy it it won't disappoint.

Setup Easy - Difficult to Update Firmware

I got this to go with an LG OLED. Setup was pretty easy. My problem started when my LG OLED did an automatic update of its firmware. When that finished the VSX-LX302 started giving me an error code in a big gray box in the center of the screen every time I turned it on. Essentially telling me my LG had a higher Dolby Vision than the Elite would handle. When I tried to update the VSX-LX302 firmware it failed and I could not get anything out of it. It was locked up. I could turn it on and off and it would come up and tell me to update the firmware. It failed several times (like 20 times). I tried over it over the network and by USB. After about two hours it took the update. The update had been released earlier that same day. It is possible Pioneer had a glitch in the firmware download and fixed while I was trying to update it. Other than that I would recommend for sure.

My second Pioneer and it’s the best

Easy to set up. I added upward firing Atmos speakers and they noticeably improved the sound particularly when there are overhead effects such as helicopters and rain. Easy to set up Zone 2 and a separate amplifier for outside speakers. Bluetooth works fine and I’ve had no issues streaming music from my IPhone, also easy to use Pandora. My only issue was the distance of the speakers was always incorrect when using the automatic calibration. After adjusting the speaker distance and reducing the bass slightly, I’m fully satisfied with the sound. If you need to replace your receiver and can still get this do it you can’t go wrong.

I have had almost all the brands and this one beats them all. With 200w per channel it drives my Klipsch 7.2 speaker setup perfectly. It added so much more punch to the sound than the last Onkyo (which fried trying to power them). The auto setup was very easy. Couldn't be happier with this purchase. Best buy runs it on sale for $550 so watch for the sale price. I would have paid the full $700 after having it now though.Highly recommend if you're on the fence and a budget. Spend the little extra. You'll be glad you did.

I replaced an older Onkyo receiver with this and the sound quality was greatly improved. Setup was pretty straight forward, just follow the instructions. I use this as a hdmi hub for theTV also and has worked well. It’s nice to run everything into this and only one cable to the TV. This is coupled with a higher end Pioneer plasma TV, so both audio and video quality are excellent.

Works well with my tv, 4k blu ray, and cable box. Great sound. The ARC and CEC work a little quirky. Had some issues with it not switching sources automatically and the tv sound not feeding back to the speakers. Need to make these features work more consistently. Overall great receiver though, does everything else well.

Great sound and features for this price range. Only negatives are you have to pay for spotify for the receiver to play the app and I am having trouble with the ARC working. Sends a great signal from my Oppo 203 to my LG oled.

I bought this on black friday 2017 and so far have been satisfied. I was torn between this one or the latest Sony 1080 and from the other reviews online, I am glad I chose this one. The sound quality is crisp and clear. Plenty of HDMI connections and the setup was a breeze. The ability to add Dolby Atmos speakers was a super plus!

This is an excellent receiver. The audio quality is very good. The video is also very good. I run the video through an Optima HD25lv projector and the quality run through this compared to DirecTV hooked straight to the projector is a noticeable improvement. I also run BluRay player, Xbox one, Amazon Fire TV and the video and sound are good from all. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because after 60 days use I had to take it in for warranty repair. The receiver went in to amp diag mode and got an unrecoverable error. It could only be reset by authorized repair facility and there are only 2 in Michigan. We will see how it holds up now. But overall I am very happy with receiver and I am glad I purchased it.

I bought this to replace my Sony 1040. Set up was easy and fast. The sound was better than my Sony 1040 but not a big difference besides the Atmos. I returned this for the Onkyo 686. The sound figutavly blew my socks off. It cost a few more coins , but worth every penny. Recap: fast easy set up, good sound , buy the Onkyo.

Super easy setup, love being able to customize the source names. Streaming SiriusXM and Spotify is easy and sounds fantastic with the various surround EQs. Only thing I’ve not tried is the 4K and/or 3D pass through as I don’t have a 4K source (yet). Absolutely love this receiver that replaced a 20 year-old Denon that I also loved. Likely to pick up another one.

I have finally been able to enjoy 4K content on my 4K Sony TV by using this receiver as my command center. It has cured the lip sync issues I had when using my previous receiver. The 4K pass thru allows me to control all aspects of my sound system. 2nd zone, plenty of power, easy set up and much more. I can't say enough good stuff about this unit!!

I bought this unit to replace a home theater in a box unit that stopped working. It has plenty of HDMI inputs, along with two HDMI outputs. So this would work great for me because I have two monitors in two rooms that share a cable box. However, the one HDMI out is a “sub” out and doesn’t support audio. So the only way I can get audio to the second monitor is to buy an HDMI 1x2 4K splitter. If you have two monitors in the same room as your receiver, then you would be fine without the splitter. But if they’re in different rooms, then added equipment will be required. Other than this small issue, the receiver is great! Sound quality is excellent and the system menu is easy to navigate.

Wasn't looking for a home theater receiver but was working on my home theater build. Saw this on sale for less than half the price of MSRP and was curious. A quick trip to the store and 20 min. of consultation later I owned one. So far so good...Plenty of power for my Deftech procinema 800 system...added 2 extra pro monitor 800's for Atmos in a 5.1.2 set up along with a 65"OLED TV and now I have an incredible sonic experience while watching movies.

I had a 2010 Yamaha 7.2 receiver. It put out 45w per speaker channel. I wasn’t looking To get this brand but the one I wanted was out. I’m so glad it was. This upgraded my sound system immensely. I hear new sounds and the sub is louder than ever. I have all Klipsch speakers and they needed the power.

Need of HDMI-out, moved from Yamaha RX-V6 and in the starting not much positive and felt lost some power and clarity then started like because of lot extra connectivity option. Lot of speaker options and using phone we can control this receiver. Airplay and chrome-cast only support audio on this receiver as per my experience
