Customers are saying

Customers are pleased with the CS1311 240 GB Internal SATA III Solid State Drive's performance, ease of installation, and the improvement in boot times it provides. Many appreciate its affordability and the fact that it's a solid-state drive, resulting in a quieter and cooler operating experience compared to traditional hard drives. While some users wish for a larger storage capacity, the overall experience is positive for most. The included software, however, received mixed reviews.

This is my first venture into an SSD. After installing my machine booted up fast and I was really excited about it. I noticed later that my computer locks up from time to time. After doing some digging in the task manager, when the locking happens, the disk meter was at 100%. So it appears that I may be able to fix it with formatting the drive. Not a good first experience.

Although this SSD was decent I would very much still recommend an SSD made by Samsung.

PNY 240gb Internal is a great product. I bought one for my MacBook Pro early 2011 and the difference from my previous 500gb 5400rpm is amazing. OS boots up in less than 10 seconds. Apps are opening up 5-6 times faster and of course no noise at all since it does not have any mechanical moving parts. Have tested the drive with BlackMagic speed test and first results are Write: 480, Read: 520. After the first result Write drops to 185 and Read stays in 500's. No need for extra warranty since it already comes with 3 years manuf. warranty, plus in 3 years 1TB SSD will probably cost $60, why spend extra money on something you will change in 3-4 years.

A GREAT deal worth EVERY cent!

I have only had the drive for about a month, but it has proved it's worth in spades. After I've had it for several months, barring any issues, I'll update this to 5 stars without question. I used this drive to replace a WD Green Caviar SATA HDD I had begrudgingly used as my system drive in my custom tower build. Since the Green drives are energy savers this thing blows it out of the water in terms of speed!! My boot time has been reduced from about 5 minutes to maybe 15s. I am now using the 2TB green drive as a secondary storage drive and running purely my OS on this SSD and anything it runs is light years faster. Since I have a custom tower I had plenty of physical location choices for installation, so that wasn't a problem. It fit into a slot perfectly with the included spacer. I didn't make use of the Acronis software download as I wanted to perform a clean install, so I have no input for that; But the full installation was quick, successful, and runs like a dream. If you're looking to replace an old HDD and see excellent, immediate performance gains, this drive is a great value!

    Amazing Speed Bump

I have an older Dell E4310 that was just dragging under Windows 10 and the stock HDD (5400 RPM). The hard drive light was always on and there was a lag upon clicking to open any application. I only have 4 GB so I couldn't decide more RAM vs. SSD. I chose SSD and bought this PNY on sale at the store! Very easy to clone using the Acronis software that can be downloaded. The speed increase is amazing. Windows 10 loads in less than 15 seconds from power on and everything is very snappy. Thanks Best Buy and PNY for this deal!

This SSD really impressed me, I went from a slloooww 52 second startup running El Capitan to a quick 13 second startup. Everything just pops, and like the "use to be" Walmart express line "no waiting" After buying this drive I did a search on the net for the 10 best SSD and to my surprise this PNY wasn't listed so I went to in-depth search mode and there really isn't any difference, the difference was like the warranty and other non essential things that I care not about. My main concern is speed and it does excellent in that aspect. It's like the retina and non retina screen, doesn't really matter. The reason I say" it doesn't matter" is because the human eye can only detect so much and the older we get the less it will detect. The Samsung was in the top 2-3 SSD but I talked to owners of the Samsung and they told me it isn't worth swapping, the difference is not significant enough nor can you really tell. I did a speed test and this PNY - CS1311 240GB SSD recorded 550MB/sec write and 575MB/sec read speeds, The Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD recorded 540MBs write and 520MB/sec read speeds. Just make sure you enable the Trim and the s.m.a.r.t. feature is automatically enabled by Apple if you use it in your MacBook or iMac, I am using it in my MacBook Pro so I had to go into Terminal and enable Trim.

    Sony Laptop Replacement C-Drive Win7

The original mechanical Hard Drive died in my Sony VAIO laptop. I replaced it with this Solid State Drive. Just popped a few screws on the the bottom and easily installed the new drive--nothing to be worried about. Major Benefits: 1, Doesn't make noise and vibrate; 2, Doesn't get hot; 3, Lightening fast! Beware of SSD's though. If they fail, virtually everything will be LOST! Back up photos or make a "bootable clone" of your drive! I learned the hard way...
