Recently decided to swap out my Nest Cameras for something new. After much "research" I decided to go with Reolink. As luck would have it, Best Buy started carrying Reolink so I of course ordered from here.
The RLC-823A 16X is a GREAT camera but it won't be great for all situations. The FOV is much smaller than the average security camera so it's best to mount it up high and/or a bit away from what you want to view. I mounted it just below a second story window.
Be advised, this is a BIG camera. Much larger than my Nest IQ outdoor cameras and other Reolink Cameras. However, it was pretty easy to mount. The included bracket is metal and thus keeps the camera very sturdy.
The App is not as user friendly as Nest's App but it is much better than using the Google Home App for cameras.
Speaking of Google Home, I have a bunch of Nest Hub displays, large and small. While you can watch your video feed on them, it doesn't load up as fast as with the Nest Cameras. Also, the feed won't continue indefinitely like it does (or used to) with the Nest Cameras.
I thought about getting an NVR to use with the RLC-823A 16X and other Reolink cameras that I purchased but apparently you lose the ability to have the camera feed on the Nest Hubs. Instead, I purchased 256GB micro sd cards (from Best Buy of course) and so far, things have been working fine.
The zoom is of course really good. The controls however are not. They aren't bad but don't expect professional level joystick control movements.
The microphone picks up a lot of background noise but it's no worse than my other Cameras. Like with my previous cameras, I have the volume turned off so I don't have to deal with the noise. I bought my cameras to keep an eye (not ear, lol) out around my house.
I tried to attach a couple pictures but for some reason or another, the site won't let me. I even made the files smaller but I continued to get a "Sorry, the upload failed" message.
I would recommend this to a friend
