I've been a RE fan since RE2 on PS2. This game has a great story, some good scares, but I feel it's more of an action/survival than just a horror game. It's definitely worth picking up. I recommend it.

Playing it on a regular screen was already scary. Then I put on my VR headset and it was just too insane. There should be a warning for the elder not to play this in VR due to the risk of heart attack lol

This is a great game it is very refreshering to play a horror game that has a mostly unquie /eerie environment and to be actually fear inducing without the over use of jumpscares

an of old school Resident Evil? You're going to LOVE this game. New to the Resident Evil series? You're going to LOVE this game. Dislike horror games? You're definitely going to HATE this game. Resident Evil 7 pays homage to where the original crafted the survival horror genre that so many fans know & love. A true modern survival horror done extremely well, if you're looking for that next title to do that genre justice look no further. The gameplay is a mix of old school with new school elements that takes the player on a thrilling and horrifying journey. PROS: -Graphics are jaw dropping. Sharp, detailed, and extremely unnerving textures & lighting. -The various creepy sounds you'll hear throughout this game will keep you on edge the whole way through. The soundtrack is extremely well done I feel, and was very subtle yet powerful in regards to enhancing the experiences and scenarios. -The game play is actually extremely fun. Killing enemies is actually extremely satisfying despite the fact that the best option in combat scenarios often at times is fleeing. _****THE STORY***** literally the best part of the game in my opinion. The whole time my cousin and I played this game we kept theorizing what would be the situation or what would happen next and we could not pin it at all. The fact that this story leaves you in complete mystery compared to Resident Evil 5/6's painfully obvious story arcs was a very pleasant surprise and quite the thrilling experience to unravel. -Had some Resident Evil 4-like gruesome deaths. I didn't experience nearly the amount that was in RE4 but the few that I did see were pretty......intense. -There is some replay value in regards to a key point of the story. Not going to give spoilers so take my word for it, especially if you care about the story then it would be worth going through again for this point alone. Also to try again on a harder difficulty setting because why not. I mean I guess you could just YouTube it after beating the game to find out what the difference is but that takes the fun out of it! CONS: -Puzzles are fun and neat but not that challenging in my opinion. Slightly disappointed in regards here. -I finished the game on the Normal difficulty @ 8.5 hours. I rushed a little in the third act though mainly because I wanted to find out what happened next in the story arc but ultimately in terms of length it's about average for a game. I suppose for those with busy schedules this could be considered a "Con" even. **Note: I never write reviews so apologies for my mediocre writing. Also I did NOT try VR so I cannot personally attest to the quality of it.

I'm a big fan of Resident Evil. Starting back with Resident Evil 4, the story and gameplay just captivated me. After experiencing my first game, I dove into the lore and was captivated by how deep the story was. RE 5 was good, but RE6 felt like a fluff piece with not much depth to it compared to past games. I was hoping that this game would be different. Resident Evil 7 blew me away. The graphics were fantastic, and the gameplay really brought back the old feeling from RE4. What really got me was how the game made you feel scared intentionally. While the other games were relatively scary, they were done in an open environment of sorts, so the scare factor was mitigated. With RE7, everything was in an enclosed dark environment, delivering the scare factor better than previous installments. Game play was also revamped to focus on survival. No longer are you a daring special agent or a buff commando. You're just a mild-mannered guy, so you're limited on training, ammo, etc. Throwing yourself in a scary, unfamiliar environment also brings about the survival aspect that was lost from RE6, so this makes the game satisfying. One complaint that I found irksome was the length of the game. It was rather short given everything that Capcom put into it, but it has a high replay value since with knowledge, you can tackle the same sequence of events multiple times in new ways. To conclude, RE7 is a shot in the arm in the Resident Evil series, and if this is the new direction that Capcom has decided to go in, I look forward to future installments.

    A Classic Reinvented. RE7

I have played most RE games, RE1 through RE7 plus both Revalations and the HD remakes. I played them on PS1, PS2, PS3, Game Cube and now on my PS4. This is my humble opinion but I feel this was a much needed change in the RE series. While the game is not perfect it does many things right and gets the most important thing about horror games correct, and that's atmosphere. The locations and sounds are spot on, with the exception of the weapons audio. Graphics have good and bad points but most of the game shines in that department. The puzzles in the game especially in the beginning pay homage to RE games of old, and are welcomed. While the story has some low points in the middle it keeps you engaged for most of the game with chartacters that are interesting and freighting. I will always have RE2 and RE4 as my favorites in the series but I can definitely put RE7 as a solid top 3 for me. I can't wait to see where Capsom goes with this new RE style game.

I had been waiting for more than a decade for another dazzling, scary, interesting Resident Evil game (last best RE game i had played was RE 4. RE 5 was ok. Only it barely had horror and looked like a Hollywood action movie with pointless, impossible, and silly monsters). This one takes you back to classic horror combined with a modern first person perspective. Your only enemy is a family, a girl, a few monsters, and a very unexpected character. I remained glued to the game, entertained, scared, adrenaline-loaded, excited with the whole story. The game was fairly long and did not disappoint a bit. I couldn't be happier. Strongly recommended. My best compliments to the makers. Resident Evil 7 Biohazard is the game I suggest to serious Resident Evil fans

Easily one of the most intense games Ive ever played. This definitely proves VR can be more than just a novelty. The first few hours were difficult, getting used to the ability to move your character AND your head. I'd often find myself still turning and looking the old school way with just the controller. But after getting the gameplay down, it became second nature to move and use my head in sync with each other. And it made me appreciate the VR just that much more. Physically being able to peer into slightly open doors, and look around corners first changes everything. I know alot of people were critical pre-release of "how this is a resident evil." Series are not defined by mechanics, but by story. Be patient, and play the game. Slowly but surely you'll see how it all ties into things. I think the point people were missing is yes the world of resident evil has always been a global, grander scale. But you forget as the world is falling apart and cities are being torched, there are people and civilization is small corners of the world, that get effected too. You dont think of the isolated family on a farm house battling the virus when you're playing RE6, but they were there. This game to me is the shining star of the whole series, and I hope other companies and developers follow suit because this has changed everything in survivial horror VR.

If you're a fan of Resident Evil or horror games in general, this game definitely surpassed my expectations. It is a return to the roots of the series where ammo and health is scarce and sometimes is better to run than deplete your resources. Coupling the fact that the story quite driven where it will leave you wanting to know what happens next is a great welcome. There is also tons of replay value as you get more unlockables for completing the game under certain conditions. Just like old school RE.

While far from perfect, Resident Evil 7 is a valiant effort by Capcom to return the series to its survival horror roots. Now being played from a first person persepctive, progression through the game mirrors that of the classic entries in the series that were released prior to Resident Evil 4. Elements such as exploration, backtracking, puzzle solving, finite ammo/supplies, and save rooms have all made a return. The unlockable "Madhouse" difficulty also removes almost all checkpoints and forces you to use cassette tapes, of which there is a limited amount, to manually save your game. Fans of the older Resident Evil games will recognize this as the typewriter/ink ribbon system used in those games. My issue with this is that it should have been implemented in all difficulties, not just Madhouse. When playing on Easy or Normal, there are ample checkpoints and you can manually save your game as many times as you want. Having no consequences for death goes a long way in negating the survival aspect of survival horror. Speaking of survival horror, Capcom certainly nailed the horror part. This is, in my opinion, the scariest game in the Resident Evil series by a fair margin. The game also supports virtual reality. I only played it the normal way and I can only imagine how scary it must be in VR. I did have some issues with the game. The final third of the game is much weaker than the first two thirds and is a bit jarring the first time you play it. The game also suffers from a severe lack of enemy variety. When all is said and done, I applaud Capcom for finally listening to the fans and attempting to create a true survival horror experience for the first time in 15 years. This game is a far cry from the action oriented direction that the series took starting with Resident Evil 4 and is much more in line with the earlier games in the series. If you're looking to scratch that classic survival horror itch, Resident Evil 7 might be just what the doctor ordered.

Since RE4 is my favorite game of all time, I kept waiting for an entry in the series that would match the caliber of that game. RE5 and RE6 were both letdowns, so expectations were extremely high for this one. Let's just say that it does not disappoint, and not only is it beautiful graphically (in a scare-your-pants-off way) but the gameplay is geniunely first person Resident Evil. You would just have to play it to see, but once you start exploring the house, you'll realize why this is a Resident Evil game. The story is outstanding, the best since RE4 and the originals. And it truly is horrifying, the villains especially. I just can't say enough about how great it is. Try it in VR if you truly want an experience that can't be missed! But don't do it alone, I'm warning you, unless you are a fan of heart attacks!
