RIG 800 PRO HX REVIEW

The RIG 800 PRO HX or a great quality headset. They feel comfortable and are relatively easy to adjust. They feel very sturdy. However, when compared to the Turtle Beach 600 X enhanced sound quality, these 800 Pro HX seem to lack the enhancements to hear the minute details that turtle beach provides during enhanced mode. Nevertheless, the sound quality is really good. The instructions should be more clear or detailed and there should be more instructional links on how to set up the headsets for optimal performance. The headset sits nicely on the stand and looks very appealing. i definitely would recommend these headsets. Price should be maintained at $100.

Hi Drawg, Thank you for the positive comments. Two things we wanted to comment on: 1) The RIG 800 PRO HX cannot connect via Bluetooth to a phone because the wireless technology it uses is a 2.4GHz digital RF wireless connection to the included wireless transmitter for lag-free wireless connection to Xbox consoles and PCs. There is no Bluetooth wireless in the RIG 800 PRO HX. Our new RIG 900 Max, also found at Best Buy, does feature Dual Wireless audio - so both the lag-free 2.4GHz RF connection for lag-free console/PC gaming and Bluetooth for connection to smartphones, tablets and other Bluetooth audio sources. 2) Regarding hearing your breathing, you can adjust the mic monitoring on the headset to reduce the amount of your own voice you hear played back through the headphones (often called mic monitoring or sidetone). To adjust, do a short press of the button just below the master volume dial to cycle through the three mic monitoring settings. We hope that helps. Thank you for choosing RIG gaming audio from Nacon.

Excellent headset. Fits snuggly on my head. Battery life and sound are incredible. Only negative is slow charging and a bit plastic-y.

Not my favorite. I preferred the non pro version. These ones have an option to hear your own mic in the headset which is just weird. It has to beep twice whenever you activate or mute the mic, so just don't mess with it if your trying to hear something. And the mic isn't fixed, so if it's not placed properly, my party says I sound very far away. Over all, I'd rather swap back to the other version.

I gotta say this RIG 800 headset is either the best or at least one of the best gaming headsets I haved used. They looked sick with that tactical design, they are super lightweight and performed like a champ. These specific ones are designed for Xbox and PC. The ear foam cups are soft and comfortable. They are made of two material leather like around the edges and cloth material on the flat side that touches the skin. I cannot reiterate how comfortable and light these headsets are. They also do a good job isolating the outside noise. I own 6 other headsets and these are like the perfect fit for me. I have a small head and usually have problems with most headsets being too large and I have to make adjustments. With this I didn't have to do anything, it fit perfectly out of the box. Adjusting the size is a little different from most. You have to remove the ear cups from the frame and place them in one of the three different holes that are on the frame. Thanks to the suspension band is what makes them so comfortable it feels like they are floating. That band can be removed.
This is a wireless headset and the manufacturer rated them for 24hrs of use. On the left earcup you have all your controls and charging port. There is a power button, volume rocker, mic mute button and the game/party chat fader. They can be recharged via wired Micro USB or using the included charging base. The microphone is flip to mute and is very easy to adjust, it can be bent with barely no effort. It is responsive and its pickup sounds nicely and clear. The microphone is not removable. When it comes to sound, that's another area where they also shine. They are Dolby Atmos Headphones and let me tell you they sound amazingly good. The objective sound is outstanding. Of course they will not be like the real Dolby Atmos dedicated setup but they sound amazing. The clarity and balance of the sound is one of the best I experience in a gaming headset. Most usually lack of deep punchy bass, not these. The bass was right where it needs to be not too much not too less, it was just perfect at least for my taste.
Setting it up was super easy, just plug and play. The Xbox recognised it right away with no issues. It even recognized them as Dolby Atmos enabled headset on the Dolby Atmos app. I like how they integrated a USB port on the charging base to plug in the wireless receiver. All you need to do is connect the USB cable from the Xbox to the charging dock. On the front of the dock there is a charging indicator light that will turn on red when charging and turn off when the headsets are fully charged. Connecting to a PC is the same way, or you have the option to just plug in the receiver. The receiver has a pairing button and Xbox/PC selector. On the PC the headset will work on both. I tried using it on the PS5 but it didn’t work despite the PS software actually recognized the headset. I also tried using them with Android phones, it connects but no sound. Another thing I liked about them is that when you adjust the volume whether up or down and you reach max, you will get a sound. Same goes when you mute or unmute the mic. When you turn them on and off, you also get an announcement.
Overall these Rig 800Pro are amazing headset especially for the price point. They are extremely light, comfortable and have amazing sound. They don’t lay flat but they have a charging station where they can sit upright. I wished they had used USBC instead of Micro and some lighting effects, but not everything is perfect. In the box you get the RIG headset, charging dock, micro USB cable, wireless receiver, manuals and some other reference materials.

Love the wireless charging base, easier to charge and not have to worry about finding the charger. Only argument is the flip to mute mic makes a sound when flipping to mute and you can’t hear anything

My biggest concerns when using a gaming headset are comfort first and then sound quality. The new RIG 800 Pro HX is one of the most comfortable I have ever used, it is extremely lightweight, the earcups feel fantastic with a hybrid mesh inside and leatherette outside for noise isolation, and the headband does not cut into the top of my large head during longer sessions. I have owned quite a few headsets over the years and have many preferences that are largely covered by this new model. Again, comfort is #1 it is so important that it not cause fatigue or even headaches after use and these are phenomenal in that regard. I also love the easy drop-in charging station, so I don’t have to fumble around with cables or find a good place to put it, flip to mute mic is a plus so I have a visual cue whether I am muted or not. Sound quality is also extremely good, the Dolby Atmos that is included just by plugging them in and downloading the app is noticeable and mids and highs are crisp and clear. The only weakness from a sound standpoint is bass is a little weak. It’s there, but not as strong as I am used to on other headsets I have used in the past, which is probably a result of the smaller 40mm drivers.
Battery life is indeed fantastic, I have been unable to make a dent in the capacity. For me they will never ever die, especially if I always drop them in the dock when I am done playing. I use a nice soundbar for movie watching etc and want to be able to hook up the headset and leave everything plugged in to be able to have the sound I need. Thankfully, if the headset is in the dock the Xbox will transition from headset Dolby Atmos back to sound system Atmos and vice-versa when I pull the headset out again. I was very happy to make that discovery for the ease of use on my setup. I am very happy with the overall quality, comfort, and ease of use that RIG has pulled off with this new headset. It comes packed with features for a reasonable price, and I recommend it.

Great pair of gaming headphones. I love how comfy they are (the ear cups are kind of a plush memory foam) and they are ease to adjust for different head sizes, you just unclip each earcup and can be positioned 3 different ways, I figure it will fit most head sizes. The greatest convenience is the charging cradle. You just plug the USB dongle receiver to it and then a cable towards your Xbox (or PC) and you are done. You just rest the headphones on the cradle everytime you want to charge them, there is a light on the cradle that blinks to indicate when they are charging. One great feature, for me at least, is that I like using my Xbox Series X with my receiver and home theater speakers (for most single player games and media consumption). With another type/brand of headphones I had, where they only used a USB dongle, every time I would plug the USB wireless receiver the Xbox would switch to headphones automatically, and the only way for me to switch back to speakers (HDMI) output was to unplug the USB receiver (or got thru the Xbox settings and select the output), I know it sounds lazy, but it involved standing up every time and unplugging and replugging it (I only use headphones for competitive multiplayer games). Not with these! I was so relieved to see that anytime that I just took these headphones from the charging cable, the Xbox would switch to headphone output and every time I would return them to the cradle to charge, the Xbox would return back to HDMI/Speakers output automatically, so easy and convenient!!!!
The sound quality and bass are great with these and I love the mic mute feature when you move the mic upwards, so easy when you need to mute yourself. They also include a free copy of Dolby Atmos with these, you just download the Dolby Atmos app on your xbox and the app will recognize your headphones and enable its license (oh, and it works for both XBox and Windows, as long as you use the same account to login on both!). The headphones have a wheel for volume and also one to regulate your chat/game audio levels. Battery levels are great and I played a large session on the weekend (around 4 hours) and the battery never failed me. I highly recommend these!
