A Worthy Upgrade - Great Wireless Headset of XBOX

I have honestly always wanted a pair of Xbox compatible Rig 800’s, but I was happy pretty happy with my wired headsets. I have owned and used a pair of Rig 800 HD’s (PC only) for 4 years now, and I have always liked the headset, and have used it as a benchmark to compare other headsets to. They were daily drivers for years, but now serve as my office headset for when I find myself going in to work. The Rig series, formerly made by Plantronics, has received some updates in this release. The Rig’s are now being made by Nacon, which is a European video game and console accessory conglomerate. If you are a fan of the original Rig series I have good news because these are a nice improvement over the old model. The Rig 800 Pro HX is compatible with Xbox One|S|X, Xbox Series S|X, and Windows 10|11 PC. Build Quality Build quality remains largely unchanged. The frame is all plastic and uses a suspension band setup. The earcups have 3 positional adjustments on each side. You have to pop the earcup out of the frame and snap it into one of the slots to adjust it. The frame and earcup mechanism remains exactly the same as my 800HD’s, and those have held up perfectly for 4 years now. For those that may be skeptical of the plastic frame, I would say your concerns are unwarranted. The frame material doesn’t creak and the earcup adjustment points can be popped in and out time and time again without showing signs of wearing out. Fit and finish on the headset material is pretty good. There are no sharp/hard edges that feel unfinished. The top band is a soft plastic with a smooth finish. The top band is reinforced with a rubber insert that runs along the inside of the band. The earcup attachment points allow some degree of flexibility to conform to your head, but they can’t rotate to lay flat for storage or tossing in a laptop bag. The suspension band remains the same with a mesh material on the underside that rests against your head, and the topside is a nice leatherette. My only knock I had on my 800HD’s build quality was the materials used on the earcups, but that seems to have been improved a bit here. The earcups still have the same ridged texture like a 2 liter bottle cap, but the plastics feel a little nicer overall. The earcups themselves have changed a bit – they have a leatherette on the outside surface of the earcup pad, but the surface that rests against your head is a breathable fabric. The mic boom has also changed and become much more flexible. It still has a nice pivot and provides enough resistance to hold the boom in position wherever you leave it. The mic boom does not have a detent denoting the mute/unmute point, so I been flipping it all the way up to mute. Comfort Comfort on the 800 Pro is top notch. They are very lightweight at 290g (same weight as the 800HD) and are among the lightest headsets I own. I wear glasses, and it doesn’t bother them at all. The compression from the earcups is just enough to keep them in place on your head. The earcups being breathable keeps my ears from getting overly hot. The only downside on the earcups is they have reduced the opening size a bit compared to the HD’s, so I can slightly feel the earcup with the edge of my ear. The comfort has improved a bit by making the suspension band a little wider than on the HD’s (At least I think its wider). It looks to be 3/8” wide vs. 1/4” on the original 800 HD’s. This has improved weight distribution and I can’t say I have noticed or felt a pressure line form where the suspension band rests. Overall, I would give the comfort level a 9.5/10 – would have been perfect if not for the slightly smaller earcup opening. Sound The adjustable EQ’s from the earlier Rigs have been dropped altogether, but that doesn’t stop the 800 Pros from sounding great. These sound pretty similar to the 800 HD’s, so you if you are upgrading you can expect a similar experience. I play mostly FPS (Halo MCC, Infinite) and racing games (Horizon, Wreckfest). The sound out of the headset has been really solid. They utilize 40mm drivers, which helps keep the weight down on the headset, and reduces some power draw. The drivers kept up with the punchy noise of gunshots, rumble of spaceships overhead, and the drone of an engine at top speed. Playing open world areas in the campaign and having to listen for enemy movements does a good job of showcasing the clarity of surrounding noise. I honestly don’t have anything to knock the sound quality on – these sounded a little better than my TB Stealth 600’s, and pretty close to my wired Astro A40’s. Once you redeem the Dolby Atmos code (I already had this installed, but toggled it off) you can add in the Dolby audio processing effects for supported games. Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite are both supported, and I noticed a greater fullness to the sound field while playing those titles. Infinite’s open world campaign had the best expansion of sound from what I could tell. The game already sounded great, but Atmos processing brought a little extra to it – again spaceships/dropships flying overhead sound great. The mic sound is good as well. I can have a somewhat noisy household with kids, and nearby AC air return, etc. I was happy to hear from my chat party that background noise was minimal, and my voice came through clearly. You also have mic monitoring/sidetone controls on the headset – it’s the small button just above the charge port on the left earcup. There are 3 levels, and off. I love mic monitoring on my headsets so I was so glad to have this feature. Other Areas/Features The 800 Pro HX includes a charging dock. You can power this dock off a standalone USB charger plug or off the USB ports on your XBOX. If you use the XBOX the dock is automatically set to wake up your XBOX when you pull it off the charger. The headset isn’t turned on automatically, so you still have to do that. The dock and the headset still use micro-USB ports for charging. While I wish they used USB C I don’t find this to be a real issue since the vast majority of people will plug the dock in, never unplug it, and exclusively use the dock to charge the headset. Speaking of charging the headset, the battery life at 24hrs is great. That’s several weeks’ worth of gaming for me, but I still return them to the dock after each session. There is a charging port on the headset on the left earcup. The buttons on the backside of the ear cup are easy to adjust while wearing. The volume wheel is an infinite scroll, but the headset gives off some beeps when you hit the min/max. The other wheel is the game/chat volume mixer. It has a raised contour that gives you tactile feedback for what your volume mix is set to. The button in between the 2 wheels is the power button – a few seconds of holding turns it on or off. You get a voice prompt when turning it on that tells you the headset is on, connected, and relative power level. The range on the wireless connection is great. I’m able to walk all around my house without losing connection. I don’t think the range is quite as good as my HD’s, but I can still walk 40ft away and keep the connection. The more in the open you keep the dock/dongle little the better your range will be. The included dongle has a switch for toggling between XBOX and PC mode. The dongle itself is pretty large so be careful not to hit and damage it if you are plugging it in anywhere except the dock (i.e. the front panel on a PC). The dongle also has a pairing button in case your headset ever drops its connection. I have never had to re-pair my HD’s, so I don’t expect this to be used but it is nice to have. The earcups, with the leatherette outer surface provide a better noise isolation experience than the HD’s by a noticeable amount. They aren’t noise cancelling by any means, but they do a good job of knocking down ambient noise. I really like when companies use earcups like this because it seems to provide the best of both worlds when it comes to earcup material – fabric vs. leatherette. They block out the noise similar to an all-leatherette, but they also get the comfort and coolness of fabric. Conclusion I have been a happy Rig user for years now. The looks might be polarizing to some, but I have always liked them. The design is well proven and has stood the test of time for me. The 800 Pro’s bring a couple nice upgrades over the old models including the new mic boom, docking station, mic monitoring, and new earcup materials.

I just picked up this RIG - 800 Pro HX Wireless Headset for Xbox, and So far, I like them a lot. My old headset was a fantastic one but is over 7 years old and has gotten a little tired. I got this set as a replacement or backup pair, and they have been great! I have been using this headset every night for the past week and I might just keep them on full time at this point. They are super comfortable on the head; the ear cups are a perfect size and hug over and around the ears perfectly. The sound is incredible, and they are Dolby Atmos ready. I really like the base on this set, the headphones fit nice and snug and they seem to slip right into place without having to wiggle them around to set the pins just right to charge, they just slide right in and charge immediately. The strap on this headset automatically adjusts to your head because of the elastic type of band, it has a nice fit, not too tight and not loose, but just right, and I can see it fitting basically anyone’s head perfectly. The headset is very lightweight, but not in a cheap way. There is just enough weight to where it feels professional. There is plenty of adjustment in the headset for this to fit a small child or an adult with the biggest of noggins. The carbon fiber albeit fake is still a nice touch, and it looks great. One of the features I love so much is the toggle between game audio and party chat. The toggle has a middle tab that can be easily felt and sway between the two for the perfect mixture of game sound or chatting with friends. I like how there is a button for mic monitoring so you aren’t screaming at your TV because you can’t hear yourself speak. The button for mic monitoring has 3 modes with an audible tone with one -three beeps indicating how much you can hear yourself speak. The volume knob is in a spot that is a very natural feeling when turning up or down the volume, it’s just in a good position. And of course, the power on/off button is on the left side along with all the other buttons. You must long-press the button to turn the headset on or off. There is a voice that tells you when the headset powers on, powers off, the battery level, and whether if the headset is connected or disconnected in a soothing woman’s voice. This headset will do the trick for sure. The sound is great for both gaming and hearing my buddies' in-game chat. When I first started using this headset, my friends did say I sounded tinny, but then I saw that the mic on the boom is directional and the word “chat” needs to be pointed toward the mouth, they said it sounded great. The one gripe I have about this headset is the lack of USB-C. I do not know why companies are still using micro-USB for anything these days, USB type C is what should be used across the board. The base and headset have micro-USB plugs. Now, once the base is plugged in, it doesn’t really matter and doesn’t need to be unplugged, but it still bothers me that it isn’t USB type C. Okay, one more complaint. I love that the boom mic flips up to mute, but what I don’t like is that the mic boom is so bendy that whenever you flip it up to mute, you have to feel around for it because it now bent backward, and then when you find it to flip it forwards again, you now have to re-shape and reposition it again because it's now bent out of shape. If the boom was more solid, this would not be an issue at all. I might just be picky. Other than the USB type C situation and the really bendy mic boom, these headphones are great! They boast an ultra-light frame, cushioned headband, plush and comfortable isolating earcups, 40mmm driers that hit them lows, flip to mute boom mic, wireless adapter USB stick, and are completely wireless with no wires to connect to your controller, ah the freedom to not be tied down. I recommend these RIG - 800 Pro HX Wireless Headset for any type of gamer casual to hardcore. I feel like the price point is just right and the sound quality far exceeds my expectations. I am glad I picked these up, and again, I might just keep them as my daily driver gaming headset. They just feel so good on my head, and the sound quality is fantastic!

You guessed it, yet another headset that I probably don’t need, but my headset addiction is in full swing again so here I go again! This time I’ll be reviewing the RIG 800 Pro HX. I’ll be breaking down this review into a few categories to make it a little more digestible. Appearance: Ugly. That’s really the only way to describe these things. These headphones will not be taking home any beauty prizes, that’s for sure.. They are primarily made of plastic and more plastic. They have a very utilitarian vibe and the design has not changed in almost 10 years. These will look almost identical to any RIG headset you’ve purchased in the last decade. You’re either going to like the look or hate it.. Build Quality: These are very light, even with a battery built into it for wireless operation I mean, these are probably some of the lightest wireless headphones. The plastic construction surely has something to do with the weight, but they feel sturdy regardless. The headband is thick and swivel cups look durable as well. These can be twisted and torqued pretty hard without any damage, they feel almost indestructible. Comfort: This is an area that’s going to be pretty subjective to people, but I’ll comment on it regardless. I had to pop out the ear cups and bring them down to the biggest size in order for them to comfortably fit my head, but they fit perfectly. The suspension headband is a great addition and makes these headphones insanely comfortable, even for extended play sessions. The two material ear cups allow your ears to breathe and after a few hours I still didn’t feel sweaty like I do with some headsets I have. Sound/Microphone: I used these headphones on my Xbox Series X and even with smaller 40MM drivers, the headset provides very dynamic and well separated sound. Bass is punchy and highs are well pronounced, but not too harsh. Using Dolby Atmos on the Xbox take the immersion up a notch. You’ll definitely be able to hear all the environmentals and enemies sneaking up on you. Oh and don’t worry, you’ll get a free Dolby Atmos code to use in Windows and your Xbox so you can experience all it on your new headset. While the sound was good, it didn’t stand out to me anymore than other headsets in the same price range and some similarly price headsets offer slightly better sound. Microphone performance was good. I had no complaints from friends in my party chat and the flip up to mute is an awesome feature. Connectivity/Ease of Use: I set up the charging base and plugged the dongle into it, then plugged that into my Xbox with the provided Micro USB cable. Yeah, you heard me right, it’s 2022 and RIG decided to use a micro USB port on both the headset and the charge base. Charging the headset is as easy as laying it on the base and I didn’t have any issues getting it to correctly sit on there like I have with other headsets. The micro USB won’t be too much of an issue if you’re using the base to charge the headset, but it’s still a little disappointing as everything else I own has been migrating to USB-C. Once the dongle or base station is plugged in, your headset will just pair up and you’ll be ready to go. Redeem the Dolby Atmos code on your Xbox if you want to be able to enable it and play some games. There are 2 dials on the unit, one for game/chat balance and one for volume. There is a mic button that can adjust your sidetone/mic monitoring and that’s it. This may be one of the most intuitive and easy headsets to operate. The controls feel solid and I have no complaints about adjusting the volume and chat balance. I did notice that when lifting the headphones off the base, my Xbox Series X turns on, which is kind of weird, but I'm assuming the dongle sends a signal to my Xbox that initiates waking it up from sleep. This isn’t a deal breaker as you’re probably going to want your Xbox to be turned on when you pick these up, but just something I noticed. Overall Impressions: I really like this headset. It’s comfortable, easy to use and even though it’s kind of ugly, so is my dog and I love that little guy. My only complaint is the archaic use of micro USB on the headset and charging base. If you’re looking for a headset for your Xbox or PC and want something insanely comfortable for long play sessions with good sound and an easy wireless setup, the RIG 800 Pro HX just be your ticket.

The RIG - 800 Pro HX Wireless Headset and Base Station with Dolby Atmos is the most comfortable headset I've ever owned! I have been using the RIG - 800 series headphones for several years now, and this set is a nice addition with the charging base and Dolby Atmos support! Being a glasses wearer, I can't stress enough how comfortable the ear pads are on this headset. I have tried many headsets before finding the RIG - 800 series headsets a few years ago and these are the first ones that do not cause ear pain / headaches no matter how long I wear them. I often wear them for 8-12 hours and they're just as comfortable as when I put them on as they are when I take them off! If you've been searching for a comfortable over the ear headset, look no further! The addition of the base station is awesome. I can just set the headset quickly in the base when I'm done instead of looking for the micro USB cable to plug into the headset. It does have that option also, if you you want to use them without the base. The USB wireless adapter plugs into the base so you only need to use one USB slot to hook up the base and adapter, but you can also plug the adapter into the USB slot separately if you wanted to. The base has a cool light on the front that lets you know it's charging with a red glow. The base has a bit of weight to it also, so it holds the headset solid. The sound quality is excellent too! The Dolby Atmos is incredible and the RIG headset includes the license for the software! My previous pair didn't have the Dolby Atmos so I'm really enjoying listening to games and movies with that now. Really gives you a sense of being in the environment you're listening to! The headset is built really well and is lightweight. The strap that sits inside the outer band is part of the reason these are so comfortable to wear for extended periods of time! You hardly feel them on your head. This pair seems to have more outside sound filtering than my previous pair, which is nice! Battery life is excellent. I generally get close to 2 full 8-12 hour days out of these before the headset tells me it's needing a charge. Now with the base it's much easier to just keep them topped off every night! As far as durability of the built in battery, my previous RIG 800 set is still going strong after 2 years of everyday use with close to the same battery life. Whether you want to use this set on your XBOX or your PC, setup is super easy and it's just plug and play. Download the Dolby Atmos app or software and you're all set! I'm a customer for life after finding the RIG 800 headphones! You won't be disappointed with these headphones!

This headset is terrible, the mic quality is the worst I’ve ever seen, super quiet and fuzzy, most $50 headsets have a better mic. The only perk is it’s Bluetooth, otherwise it’s easily the worst headset I’ve ever purchased. Steer clear.

      Hi DerekM,
We apologize you are having an issue with the mic on the RIG 800 PRO HX. Please note, this is a directional noise-canceling microphone. The word "CHAT" printed on the mic boom tip needs to be pointed towards your mouth for the noise canceling to cancel surrounding noise. If it's pointing down, up or worse yet twisted backwards, then it's going to cancel your voice (ie. super quiet and fuzzy). Also, please note that the RIG 800 PRO HX is not Bluetooth wireless - it uses a 2.4GHz digital RF wireless connection between the headset and included wireless transmitter for lag-free game audio. It will not connect to Bluetooth wireless devices. Thank you for giving RIG gaming audio from Nacon a try. nacon-fr

This is my first RIG headset and I have to say I am very please and shocked by the sound, connectivity and overall performance of the device. Out of the box you get the headset, base station and a usb dongle that you can switch to PC or console. On the back of the left ear cup, you have your volume, control, a wheel to switch between chat volume or game volume (default is in the middle for both to be heard). You also have a mic that has flip to mute capability which is terrific. The build quality is good. Sturdy….comfortable to wear for long gaming sessions (which is a must). You have three notches on each ear cup to adjust to your head. It’s different than any other headset I have worn, but that is not to say it’s bad. It works as intended and I had no issues adjusting. The dock is simple and does not take up too much room, so it will fit in most places. The sound is spectacular, and if you have an xbox that supports Dolby, you can download the app from the store and utilize that, which has been great. The mic is good, crisp and clear and I have no zero complaints regarding my voice when playing online games. For the battery life, I have not come across a gaming session where I had to stop and plug in or dock to charge the headset. Most of my sessions are 1-4 hours, and when done, the dock will charge the headset, so battery life will not be an issue at all on this headset. Overall, fantastic headset that performs in every way. I have had zero issues or complains since I started using the headset. I will definitely recommend to my friends and family who are in the market for a solid, reliable headset.

The Sound Really Took Me By Surprise

BUILD QUALITY/CONTROLS: I find these to be quite attractive in a hideous way. They are made of almost all plastic and most of that plastic is to accentuate the looks. The plastic is durable though and I have no concerns of it breaking. It feels good in the hand. Nothing raddles. On the right earcup you have your Game/Chat balance roller. But that only works on Xbox. I didn’t test it out much to be honest. But the roller itself is quite stiff and doesn’t have a notch where you can feel to notify you are smack dab in the middle which I don’t like. But it does have little marks that you can look at too get it just right. Below that you have the power on/off button that you hold where it will say powering on, battery high/medium/low, connected, pairing, or powering off. If you hold the button for a long time it will go into pairing mode in case, you get disconnected from your wireless dongle. Under that you have the volume wheel which has unlimited scrolling and is quite stiff with very dedicated ridges. Honestly, it feels good but not at the same time and I’m not sold on it. But it does make it easy to make super fine adjustments. There is also a beep for maximum and minimum volume which I like. The base station itself has a port to plug the wireless dongle in. Along with the USB to power the charging station. But nothing else. On the wireless dongle itself you have a switch to go back and fourth from Xbox or PC. Along with a pairing button. COMFORT: This headset is very comfortable. Up there with some of the best. It has just the right amount of clamping force to be snug enough to not go flying if you shake your head, but light enough so it isn’t vice gripping your skull either. The dual material ear cushions do provide some passive noise isolation along with being breathable, soft, and malleable. I like them a lot. The self-adjusting head strap is well done. I like how they have it a bit wider, more padded, with a mixture of pleather and mesh compared to the rest of the competition. You can easily detach it from the headset if you so wish. Both earcups also detach from the headband so you can give yourself more or less room. I left it stock in the middle and I’ve got a large head. It doesn’t have as fine of adjustments as some other headsets. But the self-adjusting headband takes care of most of the nuances your head might have. Overall, it’s excellent. BATTERY LIFE: Is good enough that I didn’t see any problems with it. I didn’t test how long it lasted but it will easily get you through a full day. Then with the dock it makes it very easy to recharge and you should be doing that each night making battery a non-issue. I do like that when you plug it into the charging station that it will put the LED on the front of it to red to notify you it is charging, and my favorite part is that it TURNS OFF once it is fully charged. THE DOCK: As mentioned above when charging the LED is red and quite bright and then when done it will turn off. Which I like a lot. The wireless USB Dongle does plug directly into the dongle or can be used separately. Last, it has no other inputs (such as optical). Only a USB - _ port on the back to provide power/USB connection. I wish they would have added an optical port so that way you could get sound from you TV when watching movies on a Streaming Stick over your computer/console. Sometimes placing the headset in the dock to charge can be a bit finicky but that is the status quo for this type of charging. I also would have preferred if the way you place the headset in the dock was reversed. As every time you place it or remove it from the dock you need to flip it around to be correctly oriented. SOUND: I did most of my testing on PC as that is the place I primarily game. Mostly without Dolby Atmos enabled seeing as most games have HRTF built in. At first I was not impressed with the sound. As it came across as solid. Doing everything well but not blowing my socks off. But then I really started to put it through the paces and WOW, they did a great job. The low end at first appears to be missing but it’s actually extremely accurate. Meaning if the recording isn’t going for extreme bass you don’t get it. But if it does have it then you can get really nice rumbling lows which most headsets just can’t product. For example listening to thunder and rain was a delightful experience as it balanced the rumbling lows with the crisp highs of rain well. Imaging is good where you can easily pull apart different sounds. Directional quality is average which is the biggest disappointment. As I could tell the general location of something but not exactly where it was. But that tends to be a common thing for me except for a very limited amount of headsets. Treble and mids are going to be most noticeable where I am able to hear footsteps, reloads, and other audio cues most of the time but not all the time. In the end after really putting it through the passes I REALLY like the sound and put it up there in the excellent category. But again my first impressions put it in the solid category. MICROPHONE: I was impressed. It does its job well but isn’t anything groundbreaking. I didn’t get any complaints and think it sound fine. But it sounds like a headset microphone where I sound compressed, lack low end, mids, and come across a bit artificial. But it is very clear. It is really easy to get to peak once you throw in some emotion. Again, it is perfectly usable but otherwise fine. Flip-to-mute is always appreciated. Also, the microphone is quite flexible allowing you to easily get it the ideal position. Last, on the left earcup you do have Game/Voice balance. But it only works on Xbox. Not on the PC. As it just comes across as a single input labeled “Xbox Headset”. In order for it to work they would need to separate it into two inputs on PC which they don’t. WIRELESS: I wasn’t sold on the wireless here. As it doesn’t have that long of range. When you get near the end of the range it will immediately cut out. Which part of that is nice as you either have a solid connection or nothing at all. Over it popping or going in and out. But I could literally step over the threshold, and it was like a switch where one second I had sound and the next I didn’t and was very reproducible. I had frequent drops. Where sometimes it wouldn’t drop at all in a day and other times multiple times. This improved after plugging it directly into my PC over a USB hub. But continued to just randomly lose connection and then need to reconnect despite the wireless receiver being like 3 feet away and my battery being nearly charged. I will say my room is filled to the brim with tech so it is a heavy saturated environment that most people won’t be in. And seeing as it works well most of the time there, I’d imagine for most people this won’t be an issue. But also don’t have any issues with any of my other wireless peripherals. This is really the only negative I have about this headset.

i’ve actually owned RIG 800 before they started doing the dedicated charging doc, I figured hey I miss this headset and test and see how good they are or have they gone bad. unboxing the RIG 800 Pro HX seems about the same since I had it back in 2018, the only extra box this time around is the charging stand it has a USB dongle that you attached as part of the charging station. you also still get some Dolby Atmos trail codes that comes inside the box. The design seems it didn’t change much from what I can remember, the headset still a fairly light headset to wear on your head, it has a great amount of flex to it, it doesn’t feel like this would break if I over flex the headset. so if you have a bigger head this headset should will be compatible for ya. the ear muff still have that manual adjustment design, what I mean by that you have to pop them out of it’s spot to adjust the distance for your ear. and the self adjusting band to help you get that perfect fit and adjustments. you can also never go wrong for RIG 800 Pro HX to have the 24Hr Battery Life. I don’t remember having a noise canceling mic on my older 800 Pro HX but this latest one support a noise canceling microphone, same as the previous year, it is a fold to mute, i’ve always find this feature a positive thing to have. round the ear you also have the buttons for game/chat and adjustments for volume and mic controls . the audio quality of its 40mm sounds great but not as good compared to higher end headset. but remember this is a $149.99 headset so I think from what is being offer is definitely a bit of the money. RIG 800 Pro HX offer a great sounding headset, specially if you add the extra 3D audio of Dolby Atmos that it offers, great amount of bass I had no issue listing to audio on games I play, Halo infinite is one of my favorite game I enjoy, and crisp sounds quality all around is what i’ve been experiencing from RIG few things that I wish they start to change is the micro USB cord. im just not a fan of them anymore I think it’s the cheapest route when it comes to connectivity, USBC is the future and I think RIG should adapt it, this has nothing to do with the headset but I wish Dolby Atmos is not subscription base anymore. when I bought mine back in 2018 I have the full license for Dolby Atmos, that has officially been change for those who are not aware, you will get your free trail that it’s included everytime you buy RIG products overall RIG 800 Pro HX is such a solid gaming headset, comfortable fully wireless with new charging dock, it has the ability to be use for xbox and pc as well. great sounding headset and I can only praise since I haven’t had a bad experience from them. been using this for almost a week and I had zero issue gaming with this. for $149.99 this one of the few headset that should be up on your list. it’s that good.

Very nice heatset. Had the previous model but my dog chewed it up. Ordered a new one, this model, and it came with a nice base.

I really want to give these five stars but the connectivity issue hurts them for me. I have a direct shot and am about 10-12 feet away and they just randomly disconnect and then re-connect. It's very frustrating and there is no seeable cause for it. Other than that, and it is occasional, not frequently, I absolutely love them. They took a while to charge fully out of the box. The stand/dock is awesome and greatly thought out, works just like the controller dock charger stands. Nice and easy! It connects to the xbox very easily, just plug in the thumb drive and power them up, it's that easy. The fit and finish is awesome. They fit my large head easily and did not give me any comfort issues. I have about 18 hours into them so far, the battery seems to last forever but they are so easy to place on the stand that I always have them charging. The Atmos sound is phenomenal. I have an Atmos home theater system and would rather have the headphones on, very crisp and solid bass. To mute just flip the mic boom up, knob for volume, knob for chat/game mix volume and the power on/off button.

A decent upgrade from the 800LX

I was fairly confident before receiving these headphones that I would enjoy them. My main gaming headset for the past three years has been the original RIG 800LX. I was expecting a few upgrades from the LXs while maintaining their lightweight and comfort. I'm happy to report that for the most part that's exactly what RIG delivers with the 800 Pro HX. Same great form factor and adjustable fitment with better battery life, a nicer mic boom, a smaller USB dongle, and a charging cradle. The charging cradle was the biggest draw for me as you no longer have to fiddle with a micro-USB plug (which sadly has not been upgraded to a USB-C on the Pros). The dock also houses the USB dongle and acts as an extension to get the dongle out from behind your PC or console. Sound quality is great and it is fun to experiment with Dolby ATMOS courtesy of the included software code. My big draw for the sound quality is the clarity and non-overbearing bass. This paired with the 800s light weight make it my favorite headset for extended gaming sessions. My only gripes are pretty minor and maybe even a little petty. First, they didn't upgrade to USB-C, the charging dock mostly negates this but it's 2022, come on. The dock is oriented in the wrong direction when facing you on a desk, needing the right ear cup to be placed on the left side of the charger. Not a huge deal but annoying to rotate the headset everytime you hang it up. Lastly, I preferred the more open feeling the 800LX ear pads provided and I ended up swapping my old pads to the new Pros. This is definitely a personal preference, the old pads are more open but the new pads block out more sound. In all 800 Pro HX is a solid upgrade and my new daily driver headset.

I have had a few pairs of wired RIG headphones before and really like how comfortable they were and how good they sounded. I have been waiting to get a wireless pair so the cord would stop getting tangled in my hands during long gaming sessions so this was a no brainer. The are very comfortable to wear for long periods of time or multi-hour gaming sessions. They also come with a nice base stand to set them in when not playing to charge them. I went almost a full week without putting them back on the charger and got down to maybe medium battery. A nice feature is when you first turn them on it gives you the status of the battery so you know. Another feature on the headphone I personally like is the ability to go to entire game audio or balance between the game and chat audio. This is nice when I forget to mute everyone in COD or just too lazy to do it during a game if I forget when in the lobby. The USB wireless adapter is nice also that allows these to be used with a PC or computer as well. I already have a few wireless sets of headphones for my PC so didn't try it or have a need but it is a nice feature. Also the sound is crystal clear and while playing FPS I could hear guys sneaking up from behind me. Pros - Comfortable - Great clear audio and positional awareness in games - Long battery life - Dolby Atmos - Charging base stand and can use with a PC as well - Good build quality Cons - Might be pricey for some people but still way cheaper than Astro or some of those Turtle Beach wireless headphones

Outstanding gaming headphones! Well balanced sound with pleasant bass too and Dolby Atmos is a great bonus. The headphones were easy to pair, have had no connection issues and look nice displayed next to my Xbox Series X. These headphones have far exceeded my expectations and I prefer these over my Bang & Olufsen Portals (I have been disappointed with the B&O portals overall due to poor battery life, weak bass and constant static/poor connection issues) and they easily rival my Lucid Sound LS35X too. The headphones are VERY comfortable, the battery life has been superb and the charging/storage dock rounds this set of headphones out nicely. I like that the headphones’ appearance is subdued and devoid of flashy led lighting and garish color schemes. I would highly recommend these headphones for sure especially considering the reasonable price especially the amazing sale price offered at Best Buy right now (even at full price, these headphones are well worth it in my opinion)! The only thing that I dislike is the gloss black finish on the charging/storage dock (I prefer matte finished myself).

An worthy upgrade to the RIG line!

With more and more games having a social component that often requires clear communication, general chats with friends, but many headsets tend to lack great audio. Even the plug in premium headsets often lack enough power to really provide an impactful immersive gaming experience. I was honestly surprised to hear the RIG 800 model name being used again after being my go-to headset for several years. Even now I use a RIG 800HD with my PC, after upgrading to another headset once I upgraded to an Xbox Series X. Now manufacturers by Nacon, the RIG 800 PRO HX feels like an evolution of the original. Bringing back an amazing Dolby audio experience, paired with easy to toggle chat & game audio, and the ability to mute with a simple stow away of the microphone. Everything about the RIG 800 feels like an upgrade. There is now an included charging base, a smaller form factor USB adapter which can also be plugged into the USB port of the wireless charger, and a microphone that can now be re-positioned to your preference. The RIG is still made out of a lightweight plastic, but now includes some additional rubber like padding for nice comfort if your head fully touches the top of the headband. The same mechanism is used to re-size the headset to your comfortable setting, with minimal effort to pop the earphones out and back on; all while feeling secure enough to bend without falling out of place. The earphones also have a smoother vinyl like cover, and feel softer than the previous generation headset. This made wearing them with my blue blocking lens easy without any loss in comfort or sound quality. You’ll find the same stamped in “R” lettering in the right earphone to remind you of the orientation when putting them on. There are some slight differences to the power button, and you’ll find a charging pad area on the bottom of the earphone for the charging base. The power button is a flush button, and when power on displayed a blue LED, connecting within seconds of power on. You’re greeted with an audible voice alerting you of the connection and battery status. You’ll hear an audible tone when you push the microphone up, without the audible click. The volume buttons have a comfortable amount of tension with a rubber grip, keeping them in place if you rest your head back in your chair or pillow without the random volume change. The base had an odd benefit feature when plugged into the USB port of your Xbox Series X. I noticed when removing the headset from the charging base, it would automatically turn on my Xbox, while still requiring power-on of the headset. I do wish the headset would turn themselves on also, and have yet to figure out how to stop the console from powering on when removing from the base. Keep in mind, this did require the USB adapter to also be plugged in, and only when plugged into the Xbox using an available USB port for charging. The headset features some 44mm drivers, which offered excellent audio. Included in the box is a code to enable the Dolby features on your Microsoft account, and I’d strongly recommend using it. Compared to the standard audio options found on the console, the Dolby audio sounded full, with clear lows to highs, and 3D like surround sound. If you’re wondering if this works with PC, you’re in luck! Using the same USB adapter, simply switch the small switch to “PC” and you’ll find a similar audio experience with Dolby enabled. I should note the Chat/Game audio switch doesn’t work the same on PC, and am not sure of a way to make it work. The charging base has a molded design where the headset fits perfectly into place, and only in the right orientation. There is a red LED light bar that lights up when you place the headset on the charger, and blinks when it detects the headset is removed. It took about 4 hours to fully charge the headset from around half when it was delivered. On a full charge, I found that the battery lasted several days before I finally got a low battery warning. The headset boasts a surprisingly long 24 hour battery life, with most others in the premium category being 14 to 19 hours at best. So, this will last several sessions of gaming throughout the week, while being comfortable enough to wear during those long RPG or FPS gaming sessions. Overall, I’m happy to see Nacon upgrading the experience of the RIG800 PPRO HX. They’ve improved on an already great design, taking user feedback seriously, and creating an immersive audio experience that’s as easy as plugging in and powering on. It’s easily used between PC and Xbox, offering similar audio experience with Dolby enabled, and an improved battery life that’s seen on headsets that cost and weigh more. This is an easy recommendation to anyone looking for an Xbox or PC headset, or who finally want a previous generation RIG800 upgrade!

So as far as Discord, my mic volume is low. Other than Dolby Digital, it does not have its own app to control anything. The audio quality is DECENT at best. The comfort is where this product shines. They are lightweight but relatively sturdy.

One of the best gaming headset i have. I own 4 different gaming headsets i even had the Rig 800XL these are the best one's i have used so far. They are very light weight they fit my head as i wear a L-XL hat so it's hard to find a headset that wont squeeze my head and ears and give me a headache when playing. I use these for about 4-6 hours when playing and didn't feel them on me. The mic is a very big upgrade from the last one and everybody tells me i come across so much clearer then all the others. You don't get a lot of back ground noise from them. Lifting the mic straight up puts it on mute so no buttons to push and forgetting you are still muted. The 2 volume controls are nice 1 is for game play sound and the other is for chat. I love that you can control this on these. Battery is good not great as some of my others this has a 24hr battery life i have some that are 40hrs. I don't get to play a lot during the week so i just keep this on the nice cradle charger that it comes with looks cool standing on it. The game sound is great DOULBY and with this you get the free download for it on XBOX. I didn't find any lag in the chat or game function clean and clear. The price on these is really good some good one's go for 200.00 to 400.00 can't beat this for the quality the comfort and great sound. Easy hook up to your console. I could give you all the specs but its on the box and the description of the item. Worth the money yes.
