This is my second go with the brand. I had the 800s and ended up sticking with my A50s. My A50s after 5 years started to have bad connectivity issues so I decided to move on and pick up the 900HX.
The 900HX at first wasn’t sure if I’d like them. They grew on me and I so far after 3 weeks I like them. At first the volume sounded low but I’m used to loud headsets. I wasn’t sure if it was the headset or just me but quickly I gotten used to them that blasting them in full volume are loud and more than enough. I tend to now lower its volume because they get loud.
The sound quality is very good. The imaging is very very good with Dolby Atmos. There is an app that you can QR scan from the product that gets you a license to use the new software where you take a personal head scan and upload it to Dolby and get a customize personal sound profile. Overall the sound quality is great and sounded as good if not better than my Astro A50s. The Bass is incredible and the clarity is great. The sound stage and imagine thanks to Dolby sound is very nice which is where I can say did a lot better than my previous Astros. I’ve been playing Black Ops 6 and Warzone and so far I could hear everything that I need to get dubs. So far no complaints.
The comfort is top tier. I get no ear or head fatigue after playing a good 8+ hours of gaming. The adjustments are simple and works. I don’t have a large head but I put the cups at its max size adjustments and it just floats perfectly. Comfort is so much better than my Astros.
The charging doc is better than what the Astros had by the better design. Sometimes on my Astros I’ll put them on my doc and they never charged. The 900HX falls right where they need to be every single time. The battery life is nice with 50 hours and I never run out of battery since the doc takes care of that.
The only reason I’m giving them a 4 out of 5 is that I was hoping these were simultaneous Bluetooth. They are not. That’s it. They can connect but only if you want to use the app, and if you want to listen to music you can but you can’t hear game sound. The app works good and the sound EQ adjustment work well.
Overall Great sound, Amazing comfort, just wish they were simultaneous with Bluetooth.

I purchased this because I wanted Dolby Atmos even when I couldn't use my surround sound. This headset doesn't disappoint. I have used this on my Series X and Ps5, as well as my S24 Ultra/Samsung TV. I purchased this as an open-box, so it took a bit of research to factory reset (The user manual is just a series of Youtube videos on various features/settings) Connecting to my Series X was pretty straightforward plugging the dongle directly into the console and having the dongle switch on Game. Connecting to my PS5 was a little more labor intensive as the video tutorials did not solve my issue. When connecting the dongle directly to the console, I made sure that the switch was set to PC. The audio prompt in the headset said usb connected, and even showed up under the Sound Menu as RIG 900 MAX PRO. However I couldn't get any sound to come through the headset. I eventually noticed that the light on the dongle was slow-blinking. I decided to try plugging the dongle to the charging base, then plugging the base into the back usb port of the ps5. The headset showed up again in the Sound menu and the audio prompt in the headset said "Connected." I was able to get sound through the headset and noticed the light on the dongle was a solid white color. At this point, you can just use the dongle directly plugged into the front usb port or continue utilizing it via charging base. I am very pleased with the overall sound that Dolby Atmos brings. The bass is very deep and the vocals pronounced. And the battery! I have used this for several days and still had plenty of juice left. The charging base takes about 4 hours to fully charge, or roughly 2 hours when charging through the console. The ear muff padding is comfortable and the headband is adjustable. I have no issues with movement where I had to constantly adjust. I haven't really explored the Dual Mode on the headset for having multiple devices connected simultaneously or used the mic aside from the inital setup. I like that flipping the boom up and down controls the mute function. The app is pretty rudimentary and only works when the headset is used in bluetooth mode. You have the ability to change equalizer settings as well as audio enhancements. There is also a diagnostic page that lets you test all of the functions to make sure they operate. My biggest gripe is the lack of detailed instructions and that their support is limited to email only. I found most answers via reddit or other online forums, as well as just figuring things out myself. The key is to not be quick to throw in the towel if you experience connection issues like I did at first.

I have had my fair share of Microsoft headsets as well as turtle beaches that I’ve spent plenty on money on just to have them break or stop working which is frustrating when you’ve paid $300+. However these are by far my favorite headset! They adjustable, wireless, extremely comfortable and best of reliable lol. They come with Dolby Atmos which is great too. They connect to several devices and even have a dual connection feature. Battery life is outstanding. Sound is immaculate!! I would recommend these over and over again to anyone looking for a dependable headset. Well worth the money spent!

Hands down the best premium wireless headset for the value and it has a charge base. It competes with headsets that are $350 but brings more features and is super comfortable. Bought it just to play Starfield. This headset shines in every aspect, materials, comfort, lightweight, build quality, sound quality, and only lacks a little bit in Bluetooth function. Bluetooth allows you to get notifications and take calls while gaming on Xbox but you can't mx in music. No big deal for me because I enjoy the sounds of the game. And the sound is amazing with Dolby Atmos. This headset also has flip to mute and a volume control wheel that doubles as game/chat balance for Xbox. It doesn't have active noise cancellation like the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro. That headset costs an extra $100!. It bullies it in every other category. This headset has the best soundstage and ease of use compared to any headset that is within $250. The charge base with separate USB wireless adapter isn't even available in the Stealth Pro or any SteelSeries. I would pay $350 for this headset if that’s what it was sold for. I love everything about it, the price, lightweight, great build quality and materials, durability. This beats every other gaming headset by a mile.

Great headset.
Comfortable I can wear for hours.
Good sound imo but I'm no audiophile
Mic is good but kinda poorly constructed. (be gentle with it)
Dual BT and wireless work great but not at the same time.
Would not recommend at $250 msrp but $200 is the max I would pay for any headset even shennheiser. Got when on sale at $125 but openbox excellent condition for $118.

I've had this for a few months now.
Its in my top 3 of gaming headsets I've used.
The switching between game audio and party audio is wonky. You have to press the button above the volume dial and it speaks saying what its doing everytime. Which is nice so I know what Im changing. But is annoying when i'm trying to have a conversation and cant hear the other person when it speaks.
Picking it up off the charger and It automatically turning on is such a nice feature. I'm quite litterally able to just pick it up and by time I put it on it's already connected.
I know it says meant for xbox but with the flip of the switch on the USB port which allows it connect wirelessly. Allows me to also use it on my PS5 so I dont need to have multiple headsets.
The mic flip to mute option makes me annoyed a good amount of the time. But its only because you need to Flip the mic all the way for it mute not just half way like my old headset.
With it having 3 nothces to put the earmuff in to size to your head is really uselful than how on standard headsets after a while the slide to fit to head wears down and its hard to keep in the perfect spot.
Overall I give this headset a solid 8 out of 10

I would rate this headset a 5 star but there are 2 things holding it back, and one's not advertised to do as such which is okay but I would have liked this to be a feature. The one that is not advertised is the Dual mode for Bluetooth and USB. It does as it's worded, but i would like to have audio from my tiktok doom scrolling while having my headset connected to the USB and be able to hear both. The other thing that gripes me is the RIG 900 NAVIGATOR app on Google Play. It's zoomed in to the point where you only see about half the settings and you can't scroll down on the page. I cas see the words Mic Monitoring but I cannot get to the actual slider to adjust it.

Overall not a bad headset.
Delivers a great quality sound
No connection issues (used on Xbox series x and pc)
Now for the improvement:
The way it adjusts to my head size is not the best
I feel more pressure on the top of the my ears vs the bottom.
When you pick it up from the charging dock you need to flip it 180 degrees. I feel the the way I take off and on the headset should be the way I dock it.

RIG doesn’t disappoint

ahh yes RIG with their latest headset! 900 Max still keep their signature look, i’ve own 2 gen of 800 series and this had the same look except this one has metal band or I guess steal, it add that feeling that its premium above the previous version, honestly it looks amazing! you still have to manually adjust each ear cuff, around the ear, it’s comfortable around your ears and no issue from wearing it after multiple hrs.
charging doc is also the same, you can plug the small dongle separately, i’ve tried it on my PC and my xbox series x. works flawlessly with no issue, mic is flip to mute they been around so nothing new on this part, I usually but the microphone quality is better than rig 800. Rig 900 Max sound quality great! Rig haven’t disappointed and I think quality of the audio is better than astro this have 49mm dynamic drivers and playing Halo, COD on this sounds way better than Astro. Starfield with soundtracks playing in the background sounds amazing, great bass and terrible that’s very satisfying listening in your ears. I also highly recommend using the Dolby Atmos app feature that Rig offers customize your audio preference that suit you. honestly I can’t really tell the difference that atmos add when it comes to games when it comes to competitive shooter, but single player games like starfield sounds amazing
another feature that’s been added is the bluetooth feature, it’s useful when you re getting phone calls while gaming and can just switch to bluetooth the audio to chat is also different on this one now it’s just a button to which between on 800 series it’s a nob that you can adjust, I think I prefer the older way for myself. overall i’m very happy with Rig 900 Max that’s worth the purchase. they haven’t disappointed me when it comes to gaming headsets and Rig 900 Max is a home run for me. 50 hrs battery life is more than enough to last you every single day for gaming

Good fit, Good sound, Decent Adjustability

This gaming headset has some pros and cons, but overall has been meeting my gaming needs. Firstly the design of the headset is pretty spot on, its comfortable, adjustable and fit snuggly on my head. The elastic trap the supports by head has a nice fit and does not catch my hair or pinch in any way at all. The adjustability of this headset give me a S/M/L setting that adheres to 3 notches in the head itself, which is something I have never seen. The sound is crisp, no muffling was noticed during my testing, and the base initially seems very deep and strong too. The wireless connectivity of this headset is about as expected, it has a long battery life too. The support base has a nice design but one thing is that it does not always immediately click into place and involved a little bit of wiggling to get it to begin charging. The mic pivots like a hinge rather than an elbow or multidirectional which is a little bit of an annoyance, I have a big head and was hoping to have the mic adjust inward versus either up or down... this has caused a small annoyance. Aside from the mic, the buttons are hard plastic which give a crips clicking opposed to soft buttons that have a spongy feel.
All in all, this headset performs very well but can be a bit finicky at times. I would still recommend this to anyone needing a solid gaming set but if you are needing the mic the adjust this would not be a good fit for you.

The RIG 900 Max HX Gaming Headset maintains the bulky, yet lightweight formfactor of their previous headsets, but misses the premium mark by failing to master all of the fine details required to excel as a flag ship headset.
While the head set is extremely large, it can be adjusted to fit any head size - from child to large adult. While it makes the wearer look like an air traffic controller, it is surprisingly light and fits comfortably even over hats and glasses. The foam earcups are soft and have a medium opening leaving the foam to press softly on top of the user's ears (as opposed to encircling the whole ear). There is no cooling gel in the earcups, but the foam is appropriately breathable and doesn't trap in heat.
The audio quality is good and is improved when the user sets up customization within the app and activates Dolby Audio. Unfortunately sounding "good" doesn't make up for the myriad of annoyances that come from RIG failing to pay attention to any of the fine details...
The docking station would have been a good touch, except that it doesn't work as intended. First, the headset sits on the dock the opposite direction that is expected. The user should be able to lift the headset off of their head and place it directly onto the dock. But, nope - you have to turn the headset around to nestle it correctly upon the dock. And, even when the headset is flipped around and facing the correct direction, never once did it start charging immediately. Every single time I set the headset into the dock, I had to twist and jostle the headset to get the charging to begin. Luckily there is a USB-C port on the headset - so, I recommend simply plugging in the headset to charge.
The Headset can technically sync to multiple devices at the same time, but you cannot move seamlessly between audio sources. You can select Game Mode, Bluetooth, or Dual. One would expect that Dual would allow you to jump back and forth between two sources. Mostly wrong. If you receive a phone call while playing a game, the audio switches automatically when you answer the call - and returns to the game when you hang up. But, you cannot use you're phone while it is connected to Game, or Dual mode. If you want to watch a Video on your phone while you wait for a game to load (or if you need to pull up a YouTube game tutorial), the phone will refuse to play the video until you switch the headset into Bluetooth mode. Hopefully RIG will correct this problem with a software update.
Adjusting settings is also quite frustrating as the buttons on the headset are all completely flat and have no tactile feel. After a while, you get the general idea of where the buttons are, but every time you need to swap between game volume and chat volume (as they share a single knob) - you are left feeling all over the side of the earcup trying to find where the button actually sits. It would have been extremely easy to raise the buttons so they can actually be felt and used more easily, but sadly - RIG completely dropped the ball.
Mic Monitoring is lackluster and often only works when the headset is connected to the Mobile App. Several times the headset lost its connection to my XBOX while moving between Game & Chat volume modes. Power-cycling the headset does not fix the issue - leaving me scrambling to fix the audio mid game by disconnecting the USB from the Xbox and restoring the connection.
Overall, I don't feel as though the premium price is justified. The flat buttons are a constant annoyance, I absolutely hate not being able to use the headset with my phone (unless I jump back and forth between Bluetooth and Game Modes), and the docking station isn't worth using. I simply cannot recommend the RIG 900 Max HX Dual Wireless Gaming Headset as there are less expensive headsets that work much more seamlessly.

This headset is beyond nice, and without a doubt the best gaming headset I've owned. It has some incredibly well thought-out features, such as flipping the microphone up to mute. I am frequently having to mute my headset to talk to somebody, so this feature is incredibly useful. There is an audio sound that goes with this to let you know that you've actually muted or unmuted yourself
The headset will immediately activate Dolby Atmos as soon as you plug it into a Windows 11 computer. I didn't even have to pair my headset with bluetooth, it automatically paired as soon as I plugged it in. The charging base is a great feature, but you will rarely use it, as I've easily gotten 30+ hours out of these without having to recharge. The connections on the charger and the headset are USB-C, and plugging directly into the headset allows for a fast charge.
The headset overall is very comfortable to wear, and it's incredibly easy to adjust the size. It's also really lightweight, so it won't weigh on you after extended use. The USB receiver will let you use it for all your devices, so it makes I can also bluetooth this to my work phone and take work calls, which is a huge blessing.
My one and only complaint is that you can't switch the microphone to the other side. I prefer the mic on my right side, but this one is left oriented.Otherwise, this headset is absolutely amazing!
