The Ring Outdoor Plus camera is a breeze to set up and use. We got the plug-in version with the capacity to insert a battery. The box did not come with a battery, but I had no problem buying one that was compatible with Ring. The packaging was secure, and the instructions were easy to follow. I appreciated that it had two methods of software setup: QR code and barcode. The only problem was that I could not find a way to manually type in the numbers. That would have been helpful since my phone camera was initially blurry, and I could not scan the codes. The images of the codes were very small, which made them a little difficult to scan. It all worked in the end. The software is super easy and user-friendly. I love the option of connecting it with Alexa. The live view covers a wide area. Once mounted, the device can be adjusted at several angles to get the exact coverage according to the user’s preference. One door of my house is 20 feet away from a busy state highway with heavy traffic. The moving cars do not set off the "activity" warning. Only human and animal movement triggers motion detection, and I hear chimes on my phone. Overall, this is a great home security device. I appreciate that I can pause motion alerts on my app if I am in a meeting and do not want my phone to chime. The Snooze option does the same, but I prefer the former option so the device continues to work in the background without alerting me. The Event History feature is helpful and offers a range of customization options for data storage. There are many Mode Setting options to make the device perform exactly how you want it to. The alerts and notifications can be shared with other members of the family very easily, without extra downloads, which is very helpful. It is also easy to set up connections with other devices in other parts of your home. Although I have not linked these up yet, my ability to control all my devices from a simple app is very convenient. The clean white look of the camera is great. Its small, neat cylindrical shape is quite nifty and cool. When screwed onto a corner post, the device is inconspicuous. I did not try the communication feature, but the video quality is quite good. Night vision is sharp. The battery life of the camera is very good, even in winter. I get email alerts if the battery needs to be recharged. Overall, I like Ring devices and the app more than the other two security systems in my house. There are many more options for customization, and the cam looks neat and cool.

I have previously heard about Ring; a majority of the positive remarks were made about it. Additionally, it is a leader in basic security. such modern gadgets. The outside camera plus. covers a wide range of functions. It is not merely an outdoor camera. Immediately out of the box, it is more than useful. It has comparable drawbacks to the majority of modern electronics. You must have a smartphone to thoroughly examine the product and its use. a subscription and all of its perks. However, at least there aren't any significant tripping points associated with installation or operation once activated. Despite the plug-in model, it has a clear edge over many of the other devices I've purchased, primarily its obvious AI-design. Simple, intuitive operations of all kinds. However, you would likely need to obtain the handbook to learn how to manually tweak a lot of things if you enjoy doing so. One of the most amazing features is the wide-angle fisheye lens that seems to fit into such a compact design. It spans such a wide range that everything is seen as it happens. In addition, you may put it outside a window that has a screen. Keep an eye on any events in the rain or the brilliant sunlight with audio and video information. Excellent, without having to cope with interruptions. To my surprise, I questioned whether I really needed to try another security apparatus. The others experienced minor problems. No written instructions or costly plans to maintain. video capture. The batteries ran out. Simply put, not amiable, efficient, or speedy. As much as this gadget turned out to be. Admittedly Twenty years ago Black and white was #1 and incredibly costly, with subpar sound quality. It is quite amazing to see how far technology has progressed, especially with well-used AI. This gadget is a 10. If I could rate that high, I might give it a 9.x because only god and dream girls could rate higher, and I am a skeptic who leans toward an agnostic philosophy.

This is a great little outdoor camera. It was really easy setup, charge the battery and once it's charged the setup was a breeze via the app. The instructions were clear and it was also very easy to mount outside with the mounting plate and screws. It also comes with heavy duty wall anchors if you need them. The instructions says it supports a wiring adapter as well but I went with the battery. So far the camera has been up for several days and is operating great. Ring appears to offer extra batteries to avoid downtime if needed. In addition, the picture is crystal clear and the Ring app overall is very easy to use. It loads very quickly on my WiFi network (whether I'm at home or away) and I can view the history or see live video and it usually loads within a few seconds. The notification functionality and detection zones work great and the app does a good job of helping you find a balance between the right number of alerts and maximizing battery life. The sound also comes through crystal clear and folks on the other side can hear you when you use the microphone function. All in a all a great camera if you need to mount one where you don't have wiring readily available.

I really like this Outdoor Cam Plus. The picture/video quality is amazing, especially for a battery operated cam. The onboard siren isn't very loud, certainly not enough to alert the neighborhood, but should scare off any intruders when you activate it. Intercom feature works well but has a slight delay. Set up is a breeze, especially if you already have an existing active Ring account and the app on your phone. As I already have ring products, set up took me 5 minutes after installing a fully charged battery. You're able to adjust the motion sensitivity, zones to report on, and if you want live notifications or not. This does not have an onboard light, but does have night vision. Even in grayscale, the picture is sharp. Easy to get a clear picture of any people or animals at night. You can set smart alerts to only send notifications if it detects a person, vehicle, or all motion, while still recording the event. You can mount the cam indoors or out. Wall or ceiling. Or leave it unmounted and set on a table, ledge, desk, etc for portability. You can test locations for the best spot to add it. Definitely recommend

The Ring outdoor cam plus is a great security camera to add to your security setup. The build quality is very solid and is super easy to set up. Video quality is excellent. I’ve been using mine inside my office viewing out towards our driveway and front door. Setting it up through a window is actually an option in the app and it works great. I may move it out to the front porch but haven’t decided on that yet. With it being a plug in model I would want an outlet installed up high for a cleaner look. However, that isn’t necessary. I’ve been using Ring products for a while now and they are always easy to set up with the app. I really love having a dedicated camera that’s plugged in watching over the front of my house. Notifications have been great. Picture is clean and I’ve had no issues with it or any other Ring products I own. If you’re thinking about home security I would not hesitate going with this camera. It’s a great starting point, it has flexible mounting and placement options and is definitely worth it for that reliable piece of mind. Definitely recommend!!

If you are already investing in the Ring alarm system there is no reason to not go with this camera for a new installation. Video quality is acceptable, it is very easy to install and get paired with your system, and its at a reasonable price. With that said they have changed the mounting solution so if you are looking to upgrade something existing then you will need to drill new holes for the new style mount. Beyond that the mount provides plenty of adjustment to get the view area dialed in to your liking. This camera can be powered via battery pack, solar panel, or hardwired. The unfortunate thing is it CANNOT be wired to ethernet and as a result you need to place it with consideration to the strength of your WiFi signal. If they would add POE to future cameras that would make them quite a bit more competitive with solutions like Ubiquiti. Video quality is alright, with the wide angle lens its not the clearest picture but it does provide vision to a large area. The wide angle lens makes people and objects look a little further away, so this can affect your ability to identify subjects in your recordings. The Ring "pre-roll" feature only works with it hardwired, this allows the camera to save the recording roughly ~6sec before motion was detected. Why this wouldn't work on battery I'm not sure, I guess they are more concerned about battery life than functionality. It features a built in siren which is nice to further amplify your alarm for neighbors to potentially notice and hopefully send the bad guys running away to an easier target. Overall this camera isn't good enough to say "run out an buy a Ring alarm system" but it is good for the price. If you already have Ring then I would recommend this, if you are in the market to purchase a new system with camera monitoring there are definitely better solutions.

I currently own a ring doorbell camera and a ring spotlight cam (gen 1) with solar panel, and thought why not extend the range of my cameras and pick up this 2K battery powered camera. Having an account already setup and active, this was a very simple and straight forward setup. Just scan the barcode either from the device or the paper included add to network, tweek the settings for motion detection recording area etc and done. I really love how easy it is to setup these cameras. The Good: 2K image (vid quality dependent upon internet bandwidth and device temperature) 160° Diagonal, 140° Horizontal, 80° Vertical field of view low light sight good lasting battery, optional accessory to charge by solar panel security siren alert abled dualband wifi (2.4Ghz, 5.0Ghz)\ WiFi 6 The Bad: not too many things bother me about this camera if i had to try and find things wrong with this camera to nitpick i feel the security siren is not as loud as expected and the unit feels a little bulky. Overall this is a great upgrade and add to my current ring system, i love the field of view and depth it provides as well as the clarity of the images at a distance. Compared to my other outside camera (spotlight cam) it feel at very least 35% better in all aspects (clarity, distance, fov). If you already are invested into the ring ecosystem, i would sincerely pick one (or two) of these units up. the price point is good and the quality is worth a look.

    A good Ring outdoor camera

If you have never had a Ring camera or doorbell or something else in the Ring community, you are going to have to setup Ring for the first time, create an account, etc. But, if you’re like me and already have at least 1 other device, setup of this new camera and adding it to your already preexisting Ring network will be a breeze. This is an outdoor camera, and requires a wired power source. So make sure you have a dedicated outlet, or be prepared to buy a separate battery and a power source, something like a solar panel, to make this work long term. You could skip the solar panel, and just resort to having to take the battery out every few weeks and charge it inside, but that’s real annoying, and obviously leaves you with blind spots in your coverage while the battery charges. I guess you could also just buy a spare and keep it charged for an easy swap. Best case scenario is you use this as intended, with a wired plug and have a dedicated outlet. Setup of this camera was a bit harder than it should have been. There is a card with a qr code inside the box, and the camera itself has the same qr code on it. So you usually can just scan either qr code, and set it up automatically through the app. Ive done this 10+ times for my other Ring devices, and setup was a breeze. This time for some reason, I scan the code, and the Ring app tells me I need to update the app, so I do, and then when I go back in it STILL tells me I need to update the app to add the camera, even tho there was no longer an update. Just kept telling me this over and over. I ended up having to manually add a new device, select the type of device, and continue with setup. It eventually worked, but like I said more trouble than usual. Otherwise it’s a good camera. Comes with a mount and everything needed to drill into your house and mount the camera. You can set zones and motion sensitivity options in the Ring app like the other Ring cameras. No real new breath taking tech here. I do also wish this was 4k video quality, but it’s still decent.

A Great Indoor/Outdoor Ring Camera Plus Device!

As I have several older ring doorbell and camera devices around the house, I was very excited to use and review the latest Ring Outdoor Cam Plus device to see how it compares and operates. This Ring indoor/outdoor cam is a beauty! It comes equipped for plug-in use and can also be used with a ring battery (not included) where electrical outlets are not available. It comes equipped with 2k video capabilities, low-light sight, Ring Vision, an electrical power plug and hardware for mounting almost anywhere. Customizable settings allow users to stay protected by linking cameras and doorbells around the house both indoors and out for all-around video protection. Sound options are available including voice and alarms. When there is motion detected, a notification is sent to your smartphone using Ring's Apple ios or Android smartphone applications which are available at no cost. A Ring subscription is required to archive the videos and access them at a future date. The notification allows you to see the triggering motion, view the video and hear the sound, if any. You can speak through the Ring Cam's speaker or trigger an alarm to scare away animals or intruders, if any. This new Ring Outdoor Cam Plus is being added to four other older (6-8 year old) Ring cam and doorbell devices to add additional protection around my house. It integrates very nicely with them and they all play well together. I use this latest Ring Outdoor Cam in battery mode as there aren't any power outlets nearby. Batteries are readily available at a reasonable price.

This is the first security camera I've had, and I'm very impressed by everything. The installation was very easy and simple; I am quite possibly the world's worst user of tools, and I was able to get it mounted on the front porch with little issue. In the Ring app on my phone, all I needed to do was scan a QR code and I was walked step-by-step with how to prepare the device for mounting, how to mount the bracket on the side of the house, and then how to get the camera itself ready to operate. There were a few firmware & software updates needed out of the box, but they took less than 10 minutes to finish up. And...I'm glad I had this set up! Literally the next day my car was damaged in a hit-and-run incident while parked in front of the house. Because I had the camera setup to mark whenever a vehicle passed by, it was logged and recorded and I was easily able to get the footage to both my insurance company and the local police. While hopefully you won't need anything recorded for something like a hit-and-run, it's very easy to archive if you DO. The video quality was crisp, and the audio quality was also surprisingly great for such a small device. The app itself is easy to use - I was able to share the account access with the other people who live with me and we are all able to set up alerts for when someone is at the door. I have incredible peace of mind with this mounted by my front door, and you probably will too.

First of all the setup was very easy. You need to install the Ring app and the app walks you through the rest. After setup was complete, I turned on both motion detection and motion alerts. I want to note that I setup this camera up for indoor use. The live view was crisp and clear, as was the recorded clips. The ring app was very intuitive and easy to use, this is the best app I have seen out of all the different camera systems I have used in the past. I like the modes feature, I used the home mode while I was working from home during the day and when I went to bed at night. I used the away mode when I left the house. I customized both modes to my liking, I liked the control over the notifications I receive. The live view worked well and I was able to go into the history and download what I needed. And I was never asked about a subscription(not yet anyway). I also connected this camera to my Alexa app and I was very impressed by the functionality with my echo units. I loved that I can setup motion alerts directly to all or select echo units in my home. I also loved the ease I can look at the live view from my echo show units. I am going to buy two more cameras for the blind spots outside my home so I can receive notifications. I highly recommend this camera to anyone, but especially to this who have echo units in their home.

This Ring outdoor camera fits right in with my other ring cameras. Once received, I tried to set it up, but the app stated I needed an update before I could install. I waited a couple of days and saw there was an update so I tried again. This time, it allowed me to set up. The setup is just as easy as it usually is, using the app and the camera to point at the camera's barcode to add to app and account. We've decided this one needs to go at the back door. It is extremely easy to mount - just move the base from the bottom to the back. The settings are the same as the other cameras in the system, there's snapshots at regular intervals when not recording video. They all are set to recommended settings so if you have settings that are different, you'll have to make those changes. The images and video are fantastic clarity due to 2k and the new ring vision. Sound is good as well. The battery lasted about a week when night temperatures dropped in the low 40s and highs are in the 70s. I do have an outdoor outlet just below where the camera is mounted so that will be used as soon as I get a dedicated cord and power adapter. This camera is a great addition to my ring system and I'm happy to have my back door covered. I feel more protected now that this camera is in place with the visual clarity it provides.

I do love the simplicity of the Ring ecosystem. I have the floodlight cam, the home alarm and other indoor cameras. I was excited to see that Ring came out with a 2k version with this 3rd generation of their outdoor camera and needed one to cover my side driveway for security. Setup was simple like all other ring devices, scan the QR code, follow the prompts, and voila! I have it joined to a dedicated IOT network on my mesh system which is 2.4 GHZ solely, as this camera operates only on a 2.4 GHZ network. I have mine mounted with a solar panel, and mounting was easy as well. As far as the quality of the footage and streaming etc, that is where I have to remove a star. While it is advertised as 2k, the camera is pretty useless at anything beyond 10-15 feet. I do appreciate the wide angle lens, but, if you try to zoom in to capture any details beyond 10 feet, good luck! It will be incredibly blury and pixelated. Also, I have an issue where I contacted support where my footage would phase objects in and out, like a person would freeze, then stretch across the screen and then re-appear. I went through the gambit, different wi-fi, using my chime pro, reset, settings galore, but I guess that is just how it is! I get it, WiFi at 2k is going to be hard to support at a constant frame, but even the downloaded footage ends up choppy. My spotlight camera does not have the issue as much. Maybe future firmware will true that up. The HDR feature is very nice, it really does add a ton of clarity and color. The night time recording is eh. Even with it's low-light detection, I would rate it as mid. Kind of washes out and makes everything very yellow. But, for the price point and features you get and ease of use and 2k quality, you can't really go wrong, especially if you are already in the Ring ecosystem. Hopefully they continue to improve on this product with future releases!

I've never tried Ring before, and I'm glad I did. The quality vs some of my other cameras like this is actually pretty good when compared. Video is clear and sharp, with enough details to make out faces even at low light. During the day, it's just solid. I was thinking of putting this at my front door, but opt'd not to and put inside the front hallway instead. I don't have a camera at this entrance, and this worked out great. It's plugged in, and doesn't need to charge like my previous camera used in this area. Which died all the time, and I had to get on a latter to retrieve it. No more of that now, since this is always plugged in. The quality of the camera itself is good overall, nothing fancy about hard plastic. The front area is easy to clean if it gets dirty, and the white part just gets a little dusty at times. No big issue. The cable is long enough to reach the outlet, and no other extension cord is needed for me on this one. All in all, it's a good buy for someone needing door camera.

I picked this up to work with my other 3 ring cameras from the first generation. I have them set up on the interior of my house viewing the entrances on the inside, and a ring camera doorbell out front, and a flood light first generation pointed at my garage. I wanted to get one that I could view on the outside back yard better from the outside and this seemed to fit the bill. This was a bit more than the first generation, but has great 2k resolution, up from full hd. It melded right into the ring service I already have. Color and clarity are good, and dark/night mode are good also. It works well with person/animal detection, and vehicle. Overall, a good addition and right at the going rate of it's competitors. My brother has a different brand of system and his is good also, but this one I felt had a more intuitive app that I picked up on a lot quicker than what his is. He has a 2k camera also, and I think this has a better angle and clarity. Night is equally as good. I have no qualms about recommending this.

Got this wireless rechargeable security camera to add to our property as an additional security video camera to try out. We may switch over to this type replacing our current wired system. This is super easy to unbox and set up. The instructions are user friendly and it is up and running quickly after the battery is fully charged. Downloading the app and walking through that whole set up and activation is only a few steps. I recommend going to the website and opening the installation instructions. Its simple, but there are things on there that are helpful you wouldn't think of. In my case, it is that the camera has multiple mounting options in addition to just mounting it the way it comes out of the box. The alternate options available to mount opened up a lot more possibilities on where we could place it for the best and clearest view of the area we want to monitor. With that information we were able to find the best spot to monitor our space. We installed this to monitor the area where packages are delivered to combat or at least record any package theft activity. The nice part is you choose when it is armed and what happens when it is armed. We set it for activity after hours or when we are gone. The alerts come to your phone and you can customize how and when these alerts come in as well and then view the video later or in real time. The speaker, microphone and siren is loud and clear. If someone is detected on alter that shouldn't be there, 1 button can scare them off or the other button you can talk to them. Seems pretty versatile and great video clarity so far. You can use this without the subscription plan, without the ability to view and save video. We are working on the trial plan for the first 30 days to see how we like it before buying the plan. We will likely do the upgrade. Short term summary, we really like it so far and may buy more to expand our system.
