Decent upgrade from prior gen Pro doorbell
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Received this Ring Wired Doorbell Pro 3rd Gen 4K a week ago as an upgrade from my 2nd gen wired Ring Doorbell Pro. No real issues with the old one, just wanted some of the upgraded features of the new one. Pretty straight forward setup, similar to the one I was replacing. Drilled new holes into the brick just because of the larger size and how I wanted to position the mount for it. Same wires attaching to the doorbell. However, my reason for knocking off a star, I do not like that I could no longer use my mechanical chime as I had with my prior and all other doorbells in this house. They provide a little chime adapter that I had to mount external to the cover of my mechanical chime. Guessing Ring found they need direct and constant power for this 3rd gen 4K model? Really disappointing. I don’t like the tone on this included adapter and might need to now go purchase a separate Ring Chime so the upstairs can hear the doorbell better. App settings are all similar to the other Ring doorbell I had and detection settings and alerts super easy to set as well. Compared to the prior Ring doorbell, the field of view is a little wider and sharper, especially at night (so I can see animals running all over my porch 😊). I would recommend this doorbell still, despite the disappointment with the chime. Not cheap, but hopefully it can be found on sale in the near future. I hope this works well when temperatures dip to below freezing with winter upon us.

They keep getting better
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I jumped onboard the Ring train a long time ago. I originally invested in the Gen 1 wired doorbell, then the Gen 2 doorbell and also the Gen 1 floodlight camera with an upgrade to Gen 2 and now I've upgraded to the Gen 3 doorbell camera. All give me the piece of mind and security that a couple of aging boomers need. With each generation the features get better and better. With Gen 3 you gain Retinal 4K camera with 10X zoom resulting in a super clear video image not to mention the low-low light color imaging and crystal clear black and white when completely dark. Installation was really easy for me since I was upgrading from a slightly older Gen 2 doorbell. The step by step instructions were easy to follow. The wired doorbell does require an existing wired doorbell (non-Ring is okay) to get it's power. They included an electronic bell in the event your existing bell requires more power than the Ring can provide. Installation of that is more like a piggy back of your existing doorbell and is almost unnoticeable. The Ring app lets you set up motion detection sensitivity, motion zones and alerts and notifications. As with almost anything these days a monthly subscription is required but well worth the piece of mind. You get motion alerts, notification when the doorbell has been rung and you can even have a 2 way conversation with the person ringing the bell even if you are off on vacation or out for dinner (as long as you have internet connection). I almost forgot to mention that Ring is an Amazon company and are Alexa compatible. With Alexa app you can even link your Ring and setup a skill, so you can get notifications on your Amazon Echos (if you have any). I'm really sold on Ring products

Incredibly clear quality and reliable
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been in the ring ecosystem for 7 years now and I am glad that they are always consistently upgrading their hardware and also software to be easy to use, and solid quality. This doorbell definitely is a huge step up from my old ring gen 1 pro doorbell. That one only recorded up to 1080p and was just basic, which isn’t bad, but today it just isn’t up to par with the technology that exists. However, the 3rd gen is a massive step up from gen 1 and 2. The biggest difference obviously being that now it records in 4k HDR. The design is also nice, the unit has been slimmed down and given a more modern aesthetic. Installation was… a little more complex than I had originally anticipated. I did not know that this doorbell requires a higher power transformer than what my house already had. It requires at least a 30V transformer and my old one capped at 10. So just be aware of this, if you have an old doorbell transformer, you most likely need to wire a new one in. This wasn’t hard for me, just was annoying that I had to go buy one and then install it, but it seems to be worth it because now I can record 24/7 and the connection is stable as a rock. Everything else in the app is the same, it’s just the hardware that has been upgraded. Honestly, even if you use a gen 2 I would upgrade for the picture quality alone. The stream is reliable. Now I can’t wait for the flood cam to be 4k and try that out!! Good job ring, you knocked it out the park with this doorbell.

High Quality and Useful Doorbell
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This next gen Ring doorbell is really nice! I like that it is smaller and sleeker than previous versions, and the quality of the video is also really good. Out of the box it took me a while to get it installed. There are lots of steps in the installation process but the app does a pretty good job of explaining what to do. When I went to mount it on my vinyl siding the screws didn't reach any spots that would level it, so I had to order a wedge kit specific to the new model. Once I received that it was pretty easy to mount exactly where the old doorbell was. Once installed, it is easy to setup the wifi and the app to control your device. I also installed the inside chime and linked the doorbell to Alexa so that all the Alexa devices in my house announce when someone is at the door. There are lots of options in the app and I haven't had a chance to explore them all, but I did set mine to only identify people and packages, and also chose the setting to be able to answer the doorbell on my phone or ipad so that I can talk and see whoever is at the door even when I'm not home. I'm looking forward to familiarizing myself more with the app and the other capabilities. I will probably continue the trial subscription once the free trial expires. Overall, this is a hiqh quality and extremely useful doorbell. I would recommend it.

The Ring Doorbell further improves
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We are a “ring” family and do the upgrades as they are seen fit. With the latest generation of the the Ring Doorbell Cam there’s definitely a noticeable improvement with the how the low light performance cleans up the image for a cleaner looking image with limited granulation. During full night mode activation, you can see more now. The camera is quick to swap between the various vision modes and snaps back into color if you have your front porch/walk-way lights turned on. In our case, we have an evening lamp post that auto turns on and off as a part the HOA standardization throughout the builds in our community. Resolution has gotten a lot better overall, including the zoom feature within the you’re your vertical angle appears wider while giving a larger view of the area to see if a package was delivered that would previously barely make it into the view if not delivered to the correct spot. We did notice the horizontal angle seems to be a little smaller. The notification/detection features for packages, vehicles, and people is a little sensitive still and can pick up a vehicle driving by at times. Options you can control, but the continuous recording feature is amazing. The Pro model does give you more features from a security perceptive and falls into a worthwhile long-term ownership purchase for additional peace of mind.

Ring - Wired Doorbell Pro (3rd Gen) is awesome
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ring - Wired Doorbell Pro (3rd Gen) is awesome Packaging - Came in a protective generic cardboard box. The ring box itself looks really nice, lots of cool graphics with informational details. Inside the box everything is compartmentalized so it is easy to take out of the box and keep all pieces together, screws are well packaged, tool was conveniently located as well. Installation, Ring App and Setup Scanned the QR. Already had the App installed. Clicked + to add the new device. App walked me through step-by-step video was awesome. I removed the old doorbell chimes and connected the wire per video. I am using the chime doorbell so didn't need to use my old chimes. Once I connected the wiring to the tans former and then to the ring doorbell at my door. Everything lit up. I followed the setup instructions in the video to connect to my Wi-Fi and gave it a name. It came on and walked me again step by step to complete the setup and get me rolling. Once I had everything completed, I tested the doorbell. Video is clear and precise, I can see if anyone walks across my yard, had a couple of deliveries, the doorbell wasn't rung, but the camera detected the delivery and gave me a notification that someone was seen. I also had friends come over for dinner and the doorbell worked every time. Love the flexibility of tones and actions

Huge upgrade from previous gen
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been using an original Ring Doorbell, non pro, for years so it has come time to upgrade to something with higher resolution, better night vision, and better detection. The clarity this new gen 3 Pro provides is such a substantial upgrade over my first gen it's almost equivalent to going from a traditional to a video doorbell in the first place. Now I realize I have been blind for years and probably should have done this sooner. Didn't think 4K would be necessary but it's really nice with how wide of an angle the lens is. The zoom is great as well, not only can I zoom in much further but it remains clear instead of becoming pixelated. Night vision on this makes it look like I installed a motion activated porch light because of how illuminated everything looks. Audio is much improved as well, although I am not one to communicate through my doorbell very frequently. Motion detection catches nearly everything which is much more comforting than my previous model, and you can set-up detection zones if there are areas you'd like to exclude getting notifications from. Easy to integrate with my existing Alexa environment of course, this was a long due upgrade for me, and glad I could stay in the same eco system.

Nice quality, but incompatible with some homes
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Ring - Wired Doorbell Pro (3rd Gen) Retinal 4K is a solid nice Ring doorbell. I was hoping to exchange out my older wireless Ring doorbell. However, upon installation, it was not compatible with my chime transformer. My doorbell chimer transformer did not meet the power threshold of the the Ring - Wired Doorbell Pro (3rd Gen) Retinal 4Km, note that it requires 16-24V AC. Regardless, overall installation was not too difficult, with the Ring app walking you through it. Of course, in the end, it did not work for me and I re-installed my old Ring wireless unit. It did have a USB-C connection, which I used to power the Ring - Wired Doorbell Pro (3rd Gen) Retinal 4K for testing purposes. The picture/video quality is definitely a step up from my older Ring camera. Viewed from the Ring app, and powered by USB-C, It connected and worked great. Connection is a straight forward walk through with the Ring app. I give it a 5 star for the quality and sturdiness of the Ring - Wired Doorbell Pro (3rd Gen) Retinal 4K. I can't ding it for lack of compatibility with my chime transformer. It is really well made, just wish it worked with my chime transformer. Just make sure you have enough voltage to power it.
