The Roku Streaming Player was purchased with a new smart TV. We were looking for either a Firestick or Roku TV. When an associate was assisting me, they asked about my needs. When I let them know that we had Xfinity cable they made sure that I took home ROKU because they access XFINITY streaming. The unit was very easy to install and use. We have been exremely satisfied with it. Because we now have RoKU, we also receive a nice little credit by not using an Xfinity box! Thank you!

Now that Apple has released an Apple TV+ app compatible with other streaming devices, I was able to purchase this Roku for a fraction of what I normally would pay to add or replace an older Apple TV box. I'm able to playback all of my legacy Apple content (purchased movies, etc.) as well as running apps for most of the popular streaming services. A few negatives: 1) Runs a bit hotter than I would have expected it to 2) Without unplugging it, it seems to always be on with no equivalent "off" or "low power" mode. 3) Remote requires pointing at the device with an unubstructed view. No Bluetooth or RF connection available. 4) Currently does not have an HBO Max app available. Presumably this will happen in the future, but it's not an option at this time. Overall, I'd purchase this again to use with other TV's in the house as needed.

Everything You Need to Cut the Cord

I will admit that I primarily stream through Apple TVs, but for the spare bedrooms and Gym TV I decided to save a bundle and get this Roku. In some ways it's actually far easier to set up and navigate than an ATV and really delivers all you need. The ATVs have more connectivity options and are great for whole-house audio, screen-mirroring, etc. . . but at less than 1/4 the price, the Roku does a lot. Every app I want is available, it maintains connectivity and a big bonus, you can actually stream from your iTunes (and probably other) library on your phone so if you want to stream through a soundbar or whatever from your phone, it's easy-peasy.

… as long as you mean (metaphorically) getting rid of cable. You may need scissors for other cords, especially umbilical (sterilize them first). I'm impressed with the capabilities of this tiny box. I can connect to all my subscribed services, including those not available in other streaming devices (hello turf battles among providers). It performs as well as others in its category. I stuck it to the bottom of my TV and it sort of disappears like a male angler fish after mating. I'd highly recommend it to my friends. Even to my enemies—that's how magnanimous this little device makes me feel. Your mileage may vary.

    Great Alternative to Cable

This device was purchased in order to reduce my cable bill by giving back some remote "boxes" on my additional TV's. I wound up only reducing one box and using the second Roku Box for another TV that had no connection (in the basement - my husband's workshop). He was currently streaming Netflix on his tablet, but we had a TV that had been idle, so we hooked the Roku up to that TV, so he can watch things on a larger screen! I must say the device is very compact and easy to install. The Roku service is a bit challenging to set up all of the channels you may want, but the device itself is a breeze!

Essentially I bought this to replace Xfinity/Comcast boxes on additional TVs to stop paying all the rental fees. For this, it works great. Nice to get Netflix, Amazon Prime, Xfinity Stream, etc. all in one place without having to jump inputs. It is pretty easy/intuitive to set up. The more accounts/streaming services you have, the longer it will take. I wish the remote had a few more features as the navigation can be slow at times. But, I understand this is also dependent on the apps that use Roku's service. It would also be nice if you could bind all apps to your Roku account so that each time you add another Roku device you could just choose the accounts you want used and not have to register/login all over again. If this is possible, I must have missed it. Otherwise, very decent product that servers the needs I bought it for.

I bought this for my Samsung 4K SmartTV because the native apps for that TV are woefully lacking in performance and diversity of content in 4K. As a long time Roku user, I knew what to expect, and this device didn’t let me down. It delivers continuously updated 4K content from all of the major streaming providers and is as easy to set up and use as every other Roku device I’ve ever bought. It comes packaged with everything you need to get started: device, remote, HDMI cable, power supply & an adhesive strip you can use to affix the device to the side of the TV. The only things keeping me from giving this device 5 stars is the lack of volume & power control on the remote, and the necessity of locating the device somewhere where it can be seen by the remote.

I wanted an inexpensive device to test streaming. Friends that already were streaming advised me that they were very happy with their Roku devices. This Roku device was on sale and so I purchased it to test streaming on my second TV. The connection and setup was easy as advertised. I am still working through the numerous free streaming providers, but it works very well. I will likely purchase another one for my mail TV and join the cord cutters and move to streaming for my TV viewing.

I purchased this to go into the guest bedroom in our home. We have Xfinity cabled into the house but no cable running to that bedroom. So purchased the Roku Premiere to get Xfinity programming. Easy to install and setup and within no time was successfully streaming Xfinity plus Netflix and Amazon video. This does just what you expect it to do and the fact I don't have to run cable is awesome abdication get full programming.

The fact that you can use the phone app as a remote and type using your smartphone makes a huge difference. Rather than clicking up, down, left, and right a hundred times to type a word saves a lot of time. The option to have the audio come through your phone is also very cool. Make sure you occasionally unplug it though as it doesn't actually turn off. It stays on and displays a screensaver and there is no sleep or power off option that I have found. This causes it to get pretty warm. Overall really nice and easy to use. Small as well, literally could fit in your pocket.

The Roku Premiere+ for $40.00 is a great deal! This is my 2nd Roku. (Other one is an Ultra for $90.) The ultra has pretty much identical features, but the major plus on the Ultra is the remove control with the added function of TV on/off and volume. The Roku Premiere+ unfortunately has NO TV controls, but I think you can buy and pair it with Roku Voice remote for an additional 20.00. Even if an upgraded controller, the Premiere+ would still be less than an Ultra. So besides having to juggle between 2 controllers for now, we're fairly happy with our purchase.
