While the additional speed and stats probably won't matter to most users, it's nice to know you've purchased a reputable item with excellent engineering and capabilities. Guess that's where I fall because the price differential wasn't that great (I got this on sale during Black Friday) and the last thing I need is some type of failure or incompatibility on my primary laptop drive. It's probably overkill but the Samsung was readily available and I haven't had any issues with prior units I've purchased.

If you are on windows, be 100% sure to get rid of the “queencreek” services. Some kind of data mining software for intel. Was dropping my random write IOPs to 295,xxx on both my 990 and 980 drives. With it gone they are both back into the 8xx,xxx range.
