I've been using premium (i.e. Apple) laptops for years and now find that there are a number of manufacturers that can really put together a nice piece. The screen and portability are terrific, as are the array of apps out of Google Play Store - though note that not all of which are optimized for a 12.3" screen (including the Best Buy App, weird). I really like that it is lightning fast and ridiculously portable - we're using it for an iPad replacement. And it works very well for reading, watching, browsing, emailing and app using. I can't decide if I think that its pricey though. An iPad would cost as much or more - while an iPad would be of better build quality, it has a smaller screen and no-keyboard. After going through a couple of iPads I really have no use for them anymore. Very portable laptops/2-in-1's are the way to go. I bought a $550 HP Windows laptop for my son recently - that also has really strong build quality and is more powerful as its Windows 10. Seems like he can do more for about the same price point and has an HDMI output. So I think that in the end the $499 sale price that I got this Samsung for could be cheaper but I'm very much enjoying it and honestly the overall investment is still minimal and in the ballpark of a keyboardless iPad

I previously purchased the Plus version of this and sold it and bought the Pro. This was a good choice, the Intel chip seems to not get bogged down with multiple apps open.
I have no regrets on this purchase. No lag, no issues with android apps, great screen, good keyboard. The hinge is solid and the touchscreen is very good. The pen is lacking a button, but otherwise is great as expected. I would say that anyone looking for a tablet/computer combination, this is a great option for 1/3 the price of a windows machine. Battery is getting me 8 hours of continuous use. Dual side charging port is great.
The speaker is terrible, tinny and vibrates at volume. Disappointment at $500

I really like this laptop, it has good speed, it's lightweight, and easy to use. Love the built in stylus and the fact that it can be used as a tablet also. Only negative is that instead of a caps lock key there is a search button, and I haven't gotten used to that yet.

This Chrome book is POWERFUL combination of hardware and optimized software. I use it for daily browsing, emails, youtube videos. I like the included stylus albeit narrower than a regular pen, is useful in jotting down quick notes or sign documents. I have noticed issues with Google Chrome in accessing public wifi. The captive portal for hotels sometimes is blocked by the ChromeOS and you end up not being able to access online content with Chromebook. I think, this is a ChromeOS issue. The keyboard is OK and gets the job done. However, the lack of back light and limited key travel is a bummer. The screen is the STAR of this Chromebook. Everything looks vibrant on this chrome book and I really enjoy working on it. The Black color catches oils and it shows finger prints. It blends in like a decent business laptop/tablet hybrid. I wish the web cam software was somewhat usable. Google needs to fix this issue for chromebooks in general. I also feel that there needs to be better options for lightweight photo and video editing available to the Chromebooks to make them more versatile.

Not "Prime" (Amazon) Time

Really liked the size, weight and loved the screen. It was fast, and responsive. It came with some chomebook and android apps already installed. I had no problem with running android apps execpt for one BIG exception.
The Samsung pro chromebook's Intel M3 processor is not supported on Amazon Prime. Only ARM processors are supported with Prime, the video and audio both stuttered and it was un-watchable. Because of this I took it back and got the Samsung S3 Tablet.
The Chromebook seemed to favor the Chrome apps when both installed. You had to be careful in what position the chromebook was in as to what app was being used. Since I favored the android I deleted the chrome apps to keep the machine from reverting to the chrome.
As a chromebook it is as good as it gets. As a 2 in 1 it could be better. Intel and Amazon, are you at war??

I love this laptop! I use it for college and the charge lasts me the entire day 9am - 2am (on a busy day). It's kind of hard to use the touch screen filter because my arm keeps hitting random things on the screen, but as a laptop, I would highly recommend. It is lightweight and has a lot of cool functions. Only complaint I have is that if too many applications are open, it can make the laptop lag a little. But still functions well with a lot of tabs open, which is more important for me when I'm writing essays & doing research. It's also lightweight and small so it doesn't hurt my shoulder when I'm on the go and fits into my purses. My niece is now using this computer for online school (she's in middle school) and it functions well. Also, she downloaded some app to draw / edit and the stylus is really handy for her hobbies. Hope this review helps!

This Samsung - Chromebook Pro 2-in-1 12.3" Touch-Screen Chromebook is a very good product. It is light weight for traveling. Even at home, I use it in the kitchen and in the restroom and my deck. Easy to use and you can install many apps from Google Play. It is also very secured to get on internet, not to worry about virus and malware.
I wish that it has a lighted keyboard, 6 RAM and a bigger SSD drive.
But for the price and all the good features, I still recommend a buy.
Thanks.

After years of owning this - I find that I cant find anything better than this chromebook. The screen is excellent, still reasonably fast, and also has a stylus and touch screen. The metal body is ridgid and doesnt flex. Thin, light. For this price, it still superior to anything else out there today. I wish I can find the same device updated without spending $1000+

Very light weight.
Taller screen is great for getting real work done, since you can see more of the page you are working on.
I use the integral stylus OFTEN.
Some apps still don’t take advantage of the stylus and pinch-to-zoom, which is frustrating.
Stylus handwriting recognition is surprisingly good, and a pretty efficient way to input text too.
I have a side business and transitioning between personal & work accounts on this chromebook is super easy.
Highly recommended!

It's got Android Apps and they all work very well (those I've tried). I like to know I don't have to unsheathe my phone to do some things.
Its screen is second to none. Sometimes I find myself in awe of its crispness. It's very light, which is great for tablet mode, and the lid magnetically clasps to the back for a secure closure-- nice attention to detail.
I have an old desktop at home for when I must use Windows on the Chromebook-- I just remote in with Chrome Remote Desktop and it's seamless. I also have the Late 2017 13" hp Spectre x360 with 16GB Ram; 512 nvme SSD; 8th Gen i7 and I prefer to use the Samsung Pro. Seriously, it's a perfect middle-ground between a phone and a laptop. It never stutters with its measly 4GB of RAM. And did I mention its beauty!?

Great screen and speed for a Chromebook until my unit kept on rebooting by itself. My other 2 gripes were definitely the keyboard (which felt too mushy) and the down facing speakers.

This is my third chrome os device and it is by far the best. The screen resolution is amazing and it is very responsive. The speakers, while not the best, are certainly serviceable. A backlit keyboard would be nice, but I have not found the lack of one to be detrimental. The battery life lasts the whole day with a reasonable level of use.

My desktop (10 years old) is having bluescreen strokes and I needed to transfer information to a new computer. The OS is simple and the ability to touch screen or use the touch pen is really helpful. Lots of storage space for my needs and very fast. Holds battery power for 10 to hours. A good buy for me.

Descent quality but poor design

This chromebook has some very poor design choices that really ruin it's overall descent quality. I will probably be returning it due to it's design shortcomings. As it is, it's not worth the premium chromebook pricetag of 500+ dollars. If it were closer to 300 maybe 350 at most, then I could accept it's flaws.
First, I'll start off with the good parts. It does feel like a good build quality. It feels solid in my hand, doesn't flex a lot or make me feel like I'm going to break it just by opening the lid. There is some flex below the screen where the screen bezel meets the aluminum body, but none anywhere else.
The display does look good as most samsung device displays do. The very high ppi ratio really makes everything crisp and vivid. It has relatively good viewing angles and the colors look pretty good.
The built in digitizer and pen is a nice touch. If you like to hand write notes on a tablet, or draw sketches and such, I'm sure you'll find it useful. Being included in the body makes it really convenient to always have the pen on hand. It also has some pressure sensitivity to it which surprised me with such a small pen.
That is about where the good points stop. Now to get to the bad stuff.
This first one I will admit could be the fault of chrome OS. I'm not sure yet, I might play around with it some more before I return it but haven't put much time in it since there are so many other things that are deal breakers for me. The high resolution of the screen is wasted with default setup and settings. Pages are zoomed in so far that it makes you feel like you are using a display with a resolution lower than a 1366 x 768 (common resolution for the cheaper chromebooks). For example, if you go to hangouts.google.com,, the conversation list on the left takes up nearly 40% of the width of th screen with default settings.
Next up on the list of bad things, the speakers. Now I know you can't expect great speakers in such a small thin device. But beyond them being bad quality, the placement of them is really bad. They are on the bottom of the keyboard portion of the laptop. This means, when you are listening to something in laptop mode, the sound is muffled as it's projected downward into whatever the laptop is sitting on. If you are using it in a tent configuration, this is honestly the best configuration for how the speakers are configured. Your sound will be further away from you than the screen, but it at least won't be muffled. In full tablet mode, the speakers are muffled by the screen itself. Overall, just a poor design choice to put them on the bottom, making them really only effective in one configuration. I've seen other chromebooks that project the sound out the sides and IMO this is a much better solution. While the sound is projected sideways, it at least isn't muffled in any configuration.
Then there is the battery. The battery life on this laptop seems really low for this class of chromebook. Under my initial testing, I'm getting less than 6 hours of general use watching videos and browsing the web. Samsung claims 8.5 hours, I can only see that happening if you are going to very basic plain text web pages and no videos or heavy content at all. Most chromebooks in this price range claim 10+ hours.
And lastly, the biggest deal breaker for me, the keyboard. It's down right horrible. The keys don't have much travel at all and feel very spongy. The keyboard is also slightly undersized, more so on the width cutting some keys short, like the backspace key. This thing is not appealing to type on in the least bit. And to me that is a problem, because I was looking at a chromebook to have something that I could do some tasks involving typing on. If I just wanted something to browse webpages only I'd get a tablet. The keyboard is squished like this because of Samsung going with the 3:2 aspect ration that it likes to use on it's devices. On this device currently, I see no appeal to this aspect ratio.
So overall, I cannot recommend this chromebook to anyone really. There are other options for the same price range or cheaper that are superior in most aspects. I think the only thing this chromebook really has over the competition is the beautiful display due to the high resolution.

Low weight, excellent screen, stylus adds usable functionality. Battery life very good, but not as good as my previous Chromebook, an Acer R13. Bought as an open box for $290. Not worth full price, about $500 or more.

This Chromebook makes casual web browsing super simple. Love the convertible 2-1 design as this was also replacing an old tablet that no longer worked. The fact that it also runs the Google play store and can use most apps was the selling point for this model. The pen is a nice feature but the gimmick quickly wore off for me and I never find a need for it.
Only complaint is audio quality falling short, unable to produce a loud range of volume (but is loud enough for the person using the machine but not loud enough to play music for a room) and no back-lit keyboard.

I've replaced my main laptop and have basically made it a permanent at home only computer that's always on, essentially a desktop computer if you will. I now use my new Samsung Chromebook Pro as my travel, work and go to personal computer and use it a majority of the time. You can still do basically everything you can on regular computer, especially being most stiff I do nowadays is online based. I can still run practically full version office products on there for the few times I need Microsoft Word or Excel. Add I can even run android apps and ability to use the Crossover app and can even do a few windows or exe files if need be and it is now everything I may ever need. So glad I made the decision to go with this particular chromebook. I've already recommended it to several people including family. Very lightweight and for a fraction of other competitor laptops that are lightweight two in one type computers.
