Terrible experience. This monitor is full of problems. I have problems with it after the 1st month. Samsung ask for more that 200$ to repair but Best try with another one.

INITIAL IMPRESSIONS AND DETAILS The Samsung Odyssey G5 represents a solid entry for smaller gaming monitors. It has QHD resolution (2560 x 1440), a fast 1ms response time, and is compatible with AMD FreeSync and nVidia G-Sync. USE The G5 has the basic, but most important inputs covered. A total of 2 inputs are offered: A DisplayPort 1.2 port and an HDMI port. I could find no reference on what version of HDMI the monitor supports either on the Best Buy website or on the Samsung website. My guess is that it is 1.4 at best. The monitor also has a USB port for service as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack. The monitor does not support older inputs like DVI and VGA, but quite honestly these are past their prime and are not really missed at this point. Like I stated earlier in the introduction, the 27” panel is very sharp with a lot of available real estate. This is helped by the fact the monitor supports an excellent resolution of 2560 x 1440. This is much higher than the standard “full HD” monitors with only 1920 x 1080 resolution. The increased resolution makes texts and objects MUCH sharper. As a bonus, games can display a lot more information to the user as there is far more pixels that can be used over a full HD monitor. The G5 has the gamer in mind. It includes an excellent LED panel with a fast 1ms response time. This is also one of the few monitors that not only supports nVidia’s G-Sync tech, but also includes AMD FreeSync Pro. Outstanding!!! I wish all monitors supported both technologies, unfortunately few do. The panel has an impressive 165Hz refresh rate with the ability display HDR content. However, HDR content needs to be taken with a grain of salt. While this monitor will display HDR content, it is only rated at 350 nits of brightness, so HDR is a bit of a stretch. Even though the monitor doesn’t have retina searing brightness for HDR material, it makes the most of what it does have. The pictures and images are clear, vibrant, and very well detailed. Text is razor sharp. Much, much sharper than text on a “full HD” monitor. Out of the box, the monitor came fairly-well calibrated, but it wasn’t perfect. Using my DisplayPort connection and X-Rite i1 Display Pro, I has able to fine tune the image quite nicely. While it strays to the warm side, it isn’t unnatural looking by any means and reproduces a very good image that rivals my even my high dollar Omen and UltraSharp monitors. NEGATIVES 1. Samsung needs to take a page out of Dell’s playbook when it comes to assembly and cable management. Dell has it down when it comes to ease of assembly and cable management. Even the lowliest of Dell monitors come with tool-free assembly. Not to mention the horrible cable management that Samsung cheaped-out with on this monitor. The stand has a little rubber strap the pushes into a hole in the stand. It doesn’t work. It can’t even keep the power cord tight against the stand. After 2 or 3 minutes, the strap pops out, leaving the cord to dangle. With a DP cable added to the mix, it is useless. Zip ties to the rescue. 2. This monitor is quite large to be used on an average desk without being curved. While it is by no means a deal breaker, I can see why most Samsung monitors at this size and larger are curved. CONCLUSIONS I like this monitor. It has a lot going for it. The resolution is sharp and crisp and color accuracy is quite good. The monitor has not failed to play any game I’ve tried on any platform flawlessly. I have graphics cards from all 3 major vendors, including: nVidia, AMD, and Intel and they have all performed flawlessly without once failing to recognize the synchronization tech built in. Games are smooth and I have not noticed one artifact from the video card ever being out of sync with the display. Samsung has made a very good product. If you are in market for a decent desktop monitor and are considering a full HD, model, you should really consider trying this over a full HD display. The additional real estate afforded by the increased resolution is a no-brainer. It really does make things that much clearer. Add to that, including both nVidia’s G-Sync and AMD’s FreeSync tech both to the monitor makes it an easy display to recommend.

This is an excellent mid-range gaming monitor with great color accuracy. I like the picture, response time and looks of the monitor compared to others out there in this price range. Samsung has always had a good blend of looks and image quality. One of the biggest advantages this monitor has is the refresh rate at 1440p resolution vs 1080p which is way more detailed. Obviously, your GPU needs to be able to handle it at playable frame rates. Pros • Big difference going from a 1080p to 1440p • Settings are navigated using single joystick style nub on the bottom of display. • built in crosshairs setting • custom display settings can be saved in the 3 customizable buttons • Stand can be adjusted by height and can be rotated. • color contrast is excellent. • 144hz refresh rate • smooth gameplay with no tearing • anti-reflective layer attached that helps with reflections in bright environments, and it doesn't seem to impair text quality or legibility Cons • lack of USB-C video support and USB-A connectivity • build quality for the price. Lots of plastic and easily wobbled. Conclusion: Selling point of this monitor is the refresh rate and responsiveness, this monitor is really aimed squarely at gamers. It is not so good at home office use or work needs. While it can work the lack of ports for non-gaming needs leaves it lacking for those uses.

I've owned this monitor for 7 months and can firmly say that it is now an amazing deal. After calibration, this monitor looks amazing while feeling responsive, and at 165hz, all my rhythm and competitive games feel quite a large step up from the 1080p 60hz display I had beforehand. The HDR sucked at first since it's only HDR10, but after using the windows HDR calibration tool, its actually usable now! I haven't had a single dead pixel, and the freesync premium performs better than I thought it would. I'd give if less stars if it wasore expensive, but they really but the mark on this refresh. The only way it could get better is if I got a 4k 120hz HDR 1000 monitor for the same price.

So this is probably my 6-7th gaming monitor I’ve had/tried out. This is my 2nd Samsung, 1st was a 32 inch 4K60. And I loved that one. But I play mainly warzon and need high fps. So I wanted to try Samsungs g5 series. This is the mid level gaming monitor and it performs very well at 1440p. Response time is amazing. Better than my older monitor for sure. Smooth gameplay. No stuttering like others mentioned. Either while running my 6700xt(free sync) or my 3070 FE(gsync). All drivers were update. Smooth as it’s supposed to. Super sharp Great colors and viewing angles. With decent support for hdr. Although I would say this panel isn’t as bright as I would like. But adequate for the average gamer. I’d say 27 inch is good. But I prefer 32 inch as I have gotten used to it. Tho most will say 27 inch is the sweet spot for 1440p and they are probably right. Since that would have a higher PPI(pixel per inch). Up to you personally. Can’t go wrong with either size TBH. Design is nice and gamer-ish. Wish it had RGB lighting but at this price I get it. Menus are easy to access and navigate. No issues there. If you are a gamer than you will know Samsung makes great products. So I can and will easily recommend. More so if you can get this on sale. All the features you need and want. Especially if you are into Fast paced games like me.

Good monitor for gaming and general use. Resolution is nice and it has some pretty comprehensive settings, though the picture presets leave a little to be desired. Don’t bother trying to use HDR as it’ll make the picture look washed out. IPS panels like this struggle with black levels so don’t expect the best contrast in the world, but the colors are actually pretty nice.

Solid Monitor, Great Performance – USB Port issues

I've had this monitor for a while now and it’s been great for gaming with fast response times and good image quality. The design fits nicely in my setup. One thing to note is that the monitor has no built-in speakers, which if you going to only use headphones, it should not be a big deal. Another issue with this monitor that its USB port shuts off when the monitor goes to sleep. If you connect USB devices like RGB lights or speakers, you’ll have to turn the monitor off and on each time to get them working again — which is pretty annoying. The only way around this is by connecting whatever you need to connect to the USB port directly to the pc or any other place that is not directly to the monitor. Also, HDR support is available but caused some display issues for me, so I keep it off. Overall, besides the HDR issues I encountered and the USB port issue, it is a solid choice

I've been using this monitor almost daily since Nov 2022 for games, videos, and work. Image quality and clarity are great. When compared to my ASUS ProArt PA278QV, colors are accurate and contrast is great. No issues with dark areas when playing games. No light bleed around the edges, no stuck pixels, no dead pixels with countless hours of use. I caught this on sale for $250, driving a hard bargain for this to be had. I wanted another IPS panel, high refresh rate, and higher resolution. I'll be picking up another one if I catch it on sale. Monitor base isn't excessively large, those with limited desk space should see limited interference with the front legs.

I like this monitor, but after about a year of use it left me having to go and get it fixed for warranty and thankfully I am still within this period. The panel is having issues and upon startup it gives off these weird colored vertical lines after about 30-60 mins it goes back to normal, which is the exact same reason I replaced my last Samsung monitor. Overall it was a decent price and quality good looking monitor I would say 7-10

Wonderful gaming monitor for its price. If your looking for a 1440p 165hz gaming monitor this odyssey g5 is the best one. I’ve had it for about a year and so far has had no problem and the colors are wonderful. For the price Samsung did a great job with this monitor.

Great picture quality with the HDR, even meeting minimum standards as HDR pertains, and great color depth. Only reason it gets 4 stars is do the screen blanking white for a few seconds intermittently. Had 2 of the same monitors do this so could have been a compatibility issue with the platform, PS5, I was using. I will say I went there multiple monitors and bands to accommodate my setup and the Samsungs by far have the best picture quality and color depth when it comes to other notable brand IPS panels with HDR 400. In the end I went with the more expensive G7 model and it is by far the best monitor I have found for the PS5

...has the same bleeding area others have mentioned, very prominent on the left bottom corner. It's still better than my previous monitor, bigger, with high refresh rate and nicer colors. Blacks look nice, but might have to bump them to max sometimes. I like the stand and how adjustable it is. I still haven't figured out if there's a way to turn off the led light while it's powered off though, it's even more annoying when it blinks on stand by mode. I'd only recommend it you get it around the same price, otherwise keep looking, specially if bleeding issue annoys you. I bought it on sale for $249, I think it's a decent deal. I'll keep mine out of convenience and frankly, my old one was not as good, so it's still an upgrade.

This is really a great overall monitor for productivity and gaming. You get the basics for a good gaming monitor as well as some decent features to step up your gaming rig. Aesthetically, the monitor just looks really nice. I liked the Samsung Odyssey looks as they're pretty clean looking but have a space age look to them; especially the G9 monitors. You get standard ports for this monitor. You get a DisplayPort and HDMI port as well as a USB port for "Service" as they put it and a 3.5mm headphone jack. I used this monitor on both my desktop and laptop rigs. My desktop has an i9-10850K/RTX 3090 and I have an Alienware x17 laptop. This monitor worked great for both. No lag and colors were nice, vibrant and crisp as one would expect from this monitor. Samsung always seems to produce really nice gaming monitors and this one is no exception. All in all, a great monitor to use for your gaming setup. Only real downside I could point out on this was the price. Compared to other monitors with similar specs, this one is a tad on the higher side of things.

I got this on sale for $250 recently and at that price it has blown me away. Coming from a 1080P to a 1440P monitor is a worthwhile step up. The monitor itself has decent colors (after tweaking some of the settings) and the 165hz refresh rate is great and makes games feel fast and fluid. Definitely check for light bleed as all IPS panels have it, it just varies how much each individual monitor has. It’s a very solid monitor when on sale.

The only reason I'm not giving this 5 stars is because during its first months of use the monitor would produce a coil whine sound that, although not loud, was noticeable for me (my mother could not perceive it) and was driving me crazy. I even went to BestBuy to see if they would help me send it back to Samsung to have it checked but that didn't work out. I even filed a case with Samsung but couldn't manage to send it back for repairs due to work and stuff. Nowadays the whine has gone away and I've been able to enjoy using it. I really like the features and the screen itself is great. I just wish I didn't spend time trying to get the sound fixed.

The monitor satisfies all my gaming and coding needs, and its compatible with almost every device i tried. Its display qnd colors are awesome and on point, compared to other models, because of thr gsync. The only downisde to this product was that they don't include a hdmi cable, only dispaly port adapter was included, i had go to extra trouble to get another hdmi cable.
