I was looking for SSD drive to use with the Time Machine on my iMac and decided on the SanDisk - Extreme 500 240GB External USB 3.0 Portable Solid State Drive because it fit the size required to keep my computer backed up. The USB cord is just long enough for the drive to sit on the desk behind the iMac stand out of the way when it is plugged into the USB port on the back of the computer. I like the idea of a solid state drive (SSD) because there are no moving parts to wear out like in a portable hard drive and there is no noise of a hard drive spinning. I have checked the backup files on Time Machine on numerous occasions and it is working flawlessly. I would recommend this to anyone looking for SSD drive to use with Apple's Time Machine, and if the 240GB drive is not large enough for your needs, SanDisk also makes a 480GB drive.

Used on two overseas trips as a back up for my photographs off. Connected to both a MacBook Air and then a HP PC to back up additional photos with no issues and good speed. Its rather small and very light weight so perfect for traveling/packing. I have 4 dead external hard drives, the solid state gives me some security that I don't have to worry about losing data in the same manner. Highly recommend for portability, speed, security and size.

I needed a portable SSD drive for digital DJing with Native Instruments Traktor. I looked at several models and choose the SanDisk - Extreme 500 240GB External USB 3.0 Portable Solid State Drive based on the read speed specs and BestBuy's price. Thus, far it's been a solid choice and far cheaper than OWC's competing products. The only caveat is that it's a little bigger than expected and made completely out of plastic.

I was getting concerned about my 300 Gb USB drive so I purchased this portable, durable SSD. FAST!!! It's so much faster than my USB drive, even connected to older USB ports, it's incredible. Set up is effortless and I haven't had a single problem with it. I haven't taken advantage of the security that comes with it, but it's a great feature.

I bought the SanDisk Extreme 500 Solid State 240 Gig Hard Drive. It was easy to install & save my files. It is excellent & fast. I liked it so much that I bought another one with more memory. It is very compact, too.

This SSD by SanDisk is awesome. It's quick, it's reliable and it's small enough to fit in my pocket. I am a video editor, and I like to down load current projects on my SSD so that I can edit them at a coffee shop or on the go. The advantage to this drive is how small it is and how fast it is. It's small enough to fit in tight spaces in a coffee shop. Most of all it's quick, your access to large files are instantaneous. I don't have to wait for the drive to wake up, there are no moving pieces.

Works consistently well, fast, no hangs. Files get transferred without issue. I wish it had a LED light to let me know if it was still being accessed by the computer. I eject from my computer when it says is is OK and I've never had a problem.

I use one at work and when I saw the price on this I couldn't resist. Very fast write and read. Cheaper than what I paid for my 320 gig out drive that is an actual hard drive in a case about 5" x 9" x 1 1/2". I can unplug this and drop it in a pocket to take with me. I had trouble finding the connection port. Hint: it's behind a plastic cover opposite the metal hanging clip loop attachment.

I bought this to supplement my Surface Pro 3 (which has a 256 Gig SSD built in). The SanDisk works well transporting data between a Mac (at my office) and my Windows computer. It's super tiny and light and seems very durable as well. It's lightning fast too. I'm very pleased with it.

Needed a reliable USB 3.0 external drive for DJing and bought this puppy from BestBuy. So far, it's worked well for my needs. I've taken good care of the Sandisk - Extreme 500 240gb External USB 3.0 Portable, and hope this Solid State Drive will last a long time before some drunken idiot spills her beer on it while requesting Justin Bieber... The only negative is the price.

I travel with my camera, and need to off load large files from my SD cards.. This fits nicely in my zippered external drive hard case, allowing room for accessories. It is light, and designed for less worry.

I installed Ubuntu (linix) for my computer on this device to dual boot my computer and it works well and is fast, however it has failed on me. I believe that it needs to be warmed up before I can boot from it, but I'm not sure. If I have it attached with the computer on then boot from it after a while it works fine, but I've booted from it cold and Ubuntu has a memory read failure and can't load. Not sure what the issue is, It is a bit problematic for me since I have to wait to boot to it or I have to boot windows up first, so that defeats the purpose of fast boot times that I got it for. Not sure if this is specific to the way I am using it since I've never used it as a simple storage device.

The price is a little pricey (more than $100 for a 225 GB which is not a lot for HD Videos and Pictures if we do recording and taking pictures frequently). However, this is really fast, and reliable due to newer technology. Hopefully, the price is going down a lot in the future.

Solid state drive is small and less of a risk to take with you then a hard drive which risk breaking due to it having moving parts. Like this SSD a lot.

I've loaded 4k videos on this SSD and connected it to my TV and Blu-Ray player. It is high-speed with no lag whatsoever. It came with an app/executable installed which I had to delete before the TV (Samsung 4k 65") would recognize the drive. Well worth the price.

compact and great product and i use other storage products from this brand... great portable storage that is fast and dependable.

The SanDisk Extreme 240GB external SSD is proving to be very fast for my use and very easy to carry from office to home.
