It's small and thin, which is convenient to take places. Has a lot of memory which is what I was looking for. If you're going to use it as a usb from the get go, it's ready for that, however, setting it up for an external drive was confusing even for me. The site doesn't automatically bring you to where you're supposed to find the program to set it up even after you sing up and register the product, and you have to look around for the link a bit with google, after that it is pretty straight forward, however I am not sure how easy it would be for everyone to manage that. It doesn't overheat which is good, for some reason others do.

what a bang for you buck! Does everything I need it to do in a very small , slim size that is easy to carry in my backpack

This "little" drive is a sleeper. To look at it you wouldn't think it could back up an entire Terabyte computer drive for the first time in about an hour. And it's so quiet, you'd think it's sleeping for sure! Turns out it's a workhorse, and I'm glad to have it.

Awesome external hard drive! I suggest formatting to EX-FAT for best results! I saved all files to my pc before I formatted it. Then I dragged and dropped files back to drive just to keep original files. You can rename your drive after you format it! Also register your product using the quick start files located on the drive. You will be able to back up all your files easy after that. Pretty easy! Its also PC and MAC compatible. -Love it!

Great product - downloaded 1.8TB from my dad's computer (took a while because of low transfer speed of computer) and sent the drive to my brother so he could put it on his computer for referance. Great way to transfer data from one computer to another.

Love this 2T Seagate. I have downloaded a lot of pictures, data and have more space on my computer. It's the perfect size if you need to take traveling- very satisfied with this purchase - I purchased a second one for my son.

A solid piece of hardware - my last one stayed good for ~ 8 years (not sure what happened with its detection on iMAC)!! Be good to also have the option for USB C port available.

This external USB was perfect to store files on as a backup for smaller flash drives that you might lose or in case your internal hard drive is corrupted. It was perfect for me, but it has fallen on the floor to many times and beginning to get hard to pull files off of it. Therefore, I have gone to a larger external hard drive that I will leave at home.
