For being 4TBs, the size is comparable to the 1 & 2TB models. Usually 3TBs & up they are desktop size and too large/heavy to lug around. This is a GREAT storage solution, perfect for Mac's Time Machine. I would like to point out that it works MUCH better for MAC users after you use Disk Utility to format your external HD to journaled. It works out of the box, but it has been my experience that to R/W & RW you *need* to do this if you are jumping from machine to machine. I love this model. It's faster and better than the Back Up Plus Slim. Out of My WD and other Seagates, it is my favorite. I would HIGHLY recommend it. Also, the price is INSANELY low for 4TB!

Within in the past two years, it seems that Seagate drives have been more reliable on the Mac platform than WD drives. With 4TBs, I can partition this drive to serve as at persistent Time Machine backup, as well as a storage destination for day-to-day documents and projects. I like this drive so much I bought two.

About two years ago (2014) I purchased the Seagate 1TB external drive and now present day 8/2016 I needed more space. After looking at numerous products I turned once again to Seagate. I was able to buy a drive with 4x the capacity (4TB) for about the same price I did in 2014. The drive is slightly taller but given the increased space it was an acceptable trade off. I use this drive primarily for backups while being mobile with my Macbook.

NIce compact size with lots of storage space. I like the fact that it is powered through the USB cable. I use it with my MacBook and keep it in my computer bag so I can do a backup wherever I am and whenever I want. Easy to use.

It's a hard drive. It hold 4TB. My old one only held 2TB, and it was getting full. Now, I have plenty of space, with the speed boost of USB 3.0. And, of course, an extra 2TB of space. Let's hear it for true Plug and Play! I DID recommend this to a friend.... she bought one, too.

Dependable prices for dependable parts.. all my tech needs are fulfilled at Best Buy, in store or online. This HDD is great for the price and practicality. I bought a 2TB HDD To use for time machine on my mac and needed another for file storage. The deal of the day made my day with this beauty.

This was already formatted for my Mac all in one. Simple plug and play and I backed up everything on my current drive, protecting those memories of photos and such that you never want to lose. Tons of storage and a small footprint. Drive is fast and reliable. Would highly recommend.

Having purchased many hard drives in the past I am very pleased with this hard drive. It's compact and was very easy to use right out of the box - no formatting required. Just plug and go. Can't beat the price or the capacity. Great quality drive, well done Seagate.

I load lots of photos on my computer and the files are big. Without storage like this, I would have overload quickly. Lots of room on this external hard drive for a moderate price. A good value for the money and easy to use and install.

Seagate - Backup Plus for Mac 4TB External USB 3.0/2.0 Portable Hard Drive - Silver. Great piece of hardware. Backs up all my files on my MacBook Pro in a timely and orderly fashion. I conducted a close examination of the backed up files and found they are complete. When I go on a trip, my laptop goes with me and the Seagate drive goes in the safe at home. I researched this thoroughly before buying and found each brand, including this one, has its detractors. But, I'm very happy with my Seagate drive..

The Seagate Backup Plus for Mac offered more memory for the dollar; something that is unusual when buying a dedicated Mas portable drive. Size is convenient, easy to take with me. Simple to use.

Tons of Space and Such a small footprint, also the single cable makes traveling with this a breeze. Even bought two. Works great on Windows 10.

I purchased this hard drive for my photographs/videos but decided to use as an external drive for my xbox one to free space on my device, and this works flawlessly! Tons of space and ability to download lots of games direct to the drive and have free space on my xbox.

Super easy to use for back up for macs! Just plug it in and start time machine and it is done in no time. It's also very fast and is still thin enough to store easily.

I have used this flash drive, and another similar flash drive, to pretty much backup and secure my entire personal and professional life. I back up data constantly and on multiple drives because I know that reliance on a single drive can be a very risky thing to do. This drive has the capacity and reliability to secure my data for my current needs and will likely satisfy my future data storage needs for at least several years to come. It is reliable, portable, and very easy to use.
