Not sure why, but, the drive loses connection and I need to unplug it from USB port and then reconnect it. I have 2017 iMac. Maybe with newer computers this isn't an issue? Tried plugging it into a USB 3.0. hub to see if it was a port issue... no luck. I guess I won't know if my iMac is the problem until I replace it. But, I feel like the drive should stay connected to the CPU regardless of the age of the CPU. Might have just bitten off a little too much storage with 14TB?

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Brought a Western digital to back-up my drive, as my old one of 15yrs become full. but it began to have connection issues before it made funny noises and died out on me 2 months later. Brought the Seagate as a replacement. Loved it; Until, it to began to have connection issues, made noises, and died.

Frequent Disconnects

Started infrequently disconnecting from laptop in early June (barely 5 weeks old). It is now disconnecting more frequently. It would be very frustrating if used as a ’working’ drive, and untrustworthy as a data storage device. I would NOT recommend this model for backing up sensitive data. btw: I have 2 of these 14TB units (the other one seems to be fine (for now). I will be migrating sensitive data away from that unit soon.
