I picked up this TV when it went on sell and at $599 for this 4k TV, which was $400 off list price, I thought I would be getting a decent set. The tv is heavier than other TV's in this category but that wasn't a big deal, the remote was small and cheap feeling, again not a big deal to me, but one I plugged it in I could tell it was going to be a cheap set because the menus didn't even look that sharp. The second thing I noticed was that the top half of the tv was way brighter than the bottom half. It felt like I was looking at an old projection tv. I went through several different types of programing, and watched some Netflix content and had the same effect on all of it. Spent all night trying to calibrate the screen but could not get it to look good at all. Picture is very washed out like some reviews have mentioned. The colors didn't look natural at all. Netflix by far looked the best.

Easy setup, easy to use remote, picture is absolutely great. Of course you need the right programming i.e. HD receiver and channel package or it's the quality you have from cable or satellite. Cinema now offers HD and it comes in fabulous. Loving it!

No "quick manual" but there's and emanual which is not easy to navigate. it doesn't respond to some specific commands when using my cable remote, e.g. the on/off button. Need to upgrade to High Definition service or get a better service provider because some channels the picture is horrible.

This TV is only as good as the network. W/out HD channels ( basic cable ) it's worthless. How do I know? I called ATT the next day to upgrade to their u450 pkg. for HD channels. Netflix shows awesome, the TV quality shines but with regular TV it's a blurry mess. Every time I went from Netflix to TV I kept seeing a 720p icon. After Google hunting the issue they blame it on the providers output signal. I find this interesting. Let me tell you why!? Our family TV, a 7yr old Panasonic 42" never had / reported an issue showing less than 1080p with the same provider. In truth it displays general TV wonderfully compared to the 2160p LED 4K ultra HD. I'm not saying I don't like the TV, because I do. My expectations weren't high either, I just mentioned above I'm upgrading the family room TV of 7yrs to this "new tech advanced" tv. Anyway, I moved old faithful ( with its black line across the screen ) to my bedroom. I'll enjoy my basic TV there. P.S. I almost forgot, this TV emits sound weird, at a super high vol. (46-50) it emits less than old faithful at 25. Definitely suggest, URGE you to purchase a sound bar. I also think I'm back to purchase the geek squad 5yr protection plan; my 6th sense is kicking in. I would recommend to a friend for the cost, if your budget is unlimited, choose another. Enjoy!

Great TV BUT Awful Remote Control

This is a great TV with a fabulous picture and so many great features. I simply don't understand how or why it was paired with such a poorly-designed and oddly-sized remote. The key layout is very unusual/strange. The small size initially seemed convenient when I saw it in the box. Putting it to use was a whole different story. It is too lightweight, the keys are small and the labels are very difficult to read even though I see very well. I lost it about a dozen times in the first couple of days. (My dog frequently will lie on remotes which is easily accomplished with this one.) When I have managed to find it, too many button clicks are needed to perform some pretty basic functions. I have several other Sharp TV devices and I've been able to use the remote from one of the others on this model. I'm going to order another one of those from the Sharp web site for convenience. (I tried the Sharp's iPhone SmartCentral app, but it is in dire need of help as well.) Plan on buying a universal remote or finding some other alternative like the one issued by your cable provider. Nonetheless, I must recommend this product based on the features, quality and incredible value. This brand has never disappointed.

Got this TV for a ridiculous price during the holidays. Read a lot of reviews, and like everything else, you can't please everyone. The only drawback to a 4K TV is that not all TV stations broadcast in a picture that "fits" the 4K fidelity. For example, Fox Sports 1 and Fox Sports SW broadcast a much clearer picture than ESPN. Anyway, here are my pros/cons: Pros: Really good picture; no issues with glare; lots of setup options so that you can get the color/sharpness exactly like you want (I would suggest making these changes when you are watching a blu-ray movie or are on a channel that you know handles the 4K fidelity) Cons: The remote (Yeah, a lot of other reviewers complained about it too. Although it's not awful, it is below par for a TV of this kind); WiFi won't stay connected to my router. This is a real pain and is the reason why it doesn't get a higher rating A couple of other notes ... I saw some reviews slamming the sound. What you need to realize is that as these TV's get larger (screen size) and slimmer, one of the design sacrifices that the manufacturers make is speaker size. If you are going to spend money on a nice TV, spend the extra $150-$200 for a sound bar. Also, I have a Logitech universal remote with this TV because of some of the other items that are connected to it. Be aware that switching between the HDMI ports may be problematic for some universal remotes. Mine doesn't handle it well, and consequently when I switch back/forth between cable & blu-ray, the input on the TV doesn't get switched properly (from HDMI 1 to HDMI 2 and vice versa). It's a pain, but I'll live with it until I'm ready to spend the money on a quality universal remote.

This television has an incredible picture for 4K viewing, however the remote and menu functions are difficult to use even for a technophile like myself and may be outright frustrating for more casual consumers. Additionally, the remote control is flimsy and instead of being driven by Bluetooth it is standard infrared and very finnicky at that with a very limited range. It is a great TV visually, but I may return mine by the extended return period and choose something a bit more user friendly and stable.

Great TV for the Price!! Honestly if you are looking to get into a 4k TV for cheap this is the way to go! Colors are vivid and after a little tweaking it was a beautiful picture with solid blacks. The only undesirable part of this TV is the remote, but it can easily be gotten over.

the sale price was good at $600 but I wouldn't pay full price. I feel like the speed/ motion is a little slow in some BluRays I have watched so far. Sports are pretty clear, cartoons look great, BluRays are good. Overall I'm happy with this purchase, 4k is noticeably better, and I can't bring myself to buying another LG tv ever again. I lost faith in that company after the way they treated me when my last TV (also 55") broke down. This new TV is an experiment, and this month I have been happy thus far.

I bought this unit on 6/6/2015. I did not want to put out the review right away as you may not know what your product is until you use for a good chunk of time. It has been 6 months since I bought this and I am certain that I understand this unit well. As we do not have many 4K media, it is really hard to judge the quality of the picture. As of now the real 4K video I saw were the ones on Netflix. They have enough number of 4K contents, however, ou will need to select the ones that are also recorded in 4K. Watching 4K contents, this TV does good job and I love watching 4K contents with this TV. I love movies so I want to watch movies in 4K, however, the original movies are not recorded in 4K, so what you see is the controverted 4K picture from 1080P. They look fine enough for me. It is though as if you are watching the day time soap or live program on TV when you see the movies. Everything look so blight and some what look cheap. You will get used to it though. I recently bought 4K upscale BD player. This upcovert 1080P picture to 2160P. I was hoping to see real 4K movies but again, I do not have media mastered in 4K. Also, BD player upconvert, but this TV also does the same. I don't think I needed to get this player. This is still a starting point for 4K, and I am sure there will be 4K contents in the store soon. Maybe then we will need to buy 4K media player, not the upscaler. Did I need to buy a 4K TV now?? Maybe some may say no, but I am glad I did. I can enjoy 4K dramas in Netflix and some Youtube contents. Only complain I have is that TV some times disconnected from Wi-Fi and can not get on-line started. I realized that this happens when TV is downloading the update software. It would be nice if there is a pop up message starting what is going on. I am considering purchasing a smaller 4K TV to put in my living room. I am not sure if I will choose Sharp again as their parent company is not doing so well. They closed down very well known LCD factory in Japan, and the sales is going down. I will continue watch what is going on and decide whether I buy another Sharp or Sony. My previous TV was Panasonic's last plasma unit in 50 inches. I bought that unit in Summer 2012. Got broken following February. They repaired for free, but that broke again with same problem in Sep 2013. I had to pay $400 to repair, but then broke again two months later. Panasonic did not want to help me even though it was obvious manufacturing defect. For that, I will not choose Panasonic with 4K either. I had my first Sharp in 2011. That unit is still working great at my son's dome room. Sony vs. Sharp will be a tough selection for me.

I was lucky to got it open box ,tax free in Delaware store.. with the money save I purchase 5years geek square warranty. Total cost also allow me a 24month interest free payment. Saw this TV in a Best Buy ad. Looked at reviews online then checked it out in the store. Free delivery and set up hooked me as well. The picture is beautiful. The only negative is the small remote as mentioned in other online feedback. I would highly recommend this one, especially if on sale and free delivery as well as taking your old one (since I had an old huge rear projection 55 incher). I got the 5 year Geek Squad warranty as well to play it safe.

Well I used to sell TV's for 20 years and one thing has remained one of the single most important factors for me, clarity and the TV's ability to also produce bright whites and black level. This tv is a bargain for the money with it also being a Smart TV and able to identify 4k UHD. How can anyone complain about a 55" TV that costs well under a grand? My only complaint is with the super thin and tiny remote control but I use the DISH remote mostly so there you have it with my review. One more thing worth mentioning, Sharp being a Japanese mfr vs it's Korean counterparts, I'll trust Sharp any day over anything Vizio and Samsung despite them in recent years becoming more popular because most people are price motivated only and this is the sole reason they got there foot in the door. I trust Sharp for the long haul.
