BestBuy Car Audio Warranty Work

I took my vehicle to BestBuy on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at 12:00 PM to have my stereo tuned because there was no response coming from the subwoofer (warranty work). the car audio tech Jacob Cleary adjusted some of the vehicles stereos components, the LCi7 output converter and Kenwood amplifier, but he missed the subwoofer, after attempting to adjust the subwoofer setting, he said the subwoofer was blown, he did not actually examine or view the subwoofer or attempt all possible due diligence troubleshooting the subwoofer, because there was no response coming from the subwoofer, he assumed the subwoofer was blown.
Prior to purchasing a new subwoofer for my vehicle, I emailed Jacob the link for the subwoofer and subwoofer box to make sure the subwoofer matched the amplifier already installed in my vehicle. He said they were both correct and he would install them in my vehicle.
Based on the information from Jacob, I purchased a new subwoofer box and subwoofer, drove my vehicle to BestBuy for the new appointment on Friday, May 2, 2025 at 12:00 PM. When I arrived, I was told because he was replacing the subwoofer that he said was blown, he was charging me a fee because it was a different subwoofer, this is supposed to be “warranty work”, if the subwoofer was blown it would need to be replaced anyway. Prior to the purchase of the subwoofer, I was communicating with Jacob by phone and by email, Jacob never once mentioned anything about a fee, I was under the impression the subwoofer install was covered by warranty. When Jacob removed the existing subwoofer and subwoofer box and started the install for the new subwoofer, he called me and said he had encountered a problem during the install, the new subwoofer did not fit the new subwoofer enclosure.
As Jacob was showing me the sub box and subwoofer that he removed from my vehicle, I could clearly see that the plug connection from the sub box to the subwoofer had pulled out of the wire connector, the wire had separated from plug going to the subwoofer, this was the actual the problem and why the subwoofer was not working, also the subwoofer was visibly sound. He asked me if I wanted him to reinstall my old subwoofer back into the vehicle, I told him no to reinstallation, I would rather stay with the new system, he called the company about the new subwoofer enclosure to get the correct subwoofer size that would fit the enclosure, but was told that the only subwoofer they made for that particular sub box was a 1-ohm subwoofer. I require a 2-ohm or 4-ohm subwoofer to match the amplifier installed in my vehicle.
I ordered the new subwoofer that would fit the enclosure and emailed Jacob for another appointment to continue the install. I had to email, text and call Jacob several times before finally receiving an appointment to bring my vehicle back to BestBuy so that he could complete the subwoofer install. This was made to be way more difficult than it should have been.

I purchased this service online only to realize later that it was the incorrect type due to poor product description. I was unable to obtain a refund using the Order Status page, so I followed the instructions in the confirmation email to obtain said refund.
The email instructions sent me to the Autotech Service webpage, where I entered the confirmation number to verify my purchase. So, imagine my surprise when the site did not recognize my confirmation number!
So, after about an hour of being on hold I reached a representative by phone who then informed me that electronically delivered products cannot be refunded. Yes, he was referring to the confirmation email!
I did get my money back after a strong warning never to let it happen again. I will never again buy online from Best Buy and now seriously considering other options for car stereo installation.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Did a great job with the installing the speakers i brought i had received them as a gift they did a great job and made sure not to damage my vehicle permanently; i wanted to use double sided tape to mount my sound adjustment nob and forgot to tell them i realized i forgot for awhile and was so scared they may have screwed it into my dash somewhere and i was so releived when he told me he only double sided taped it

The guys in Mobile AL were awesome, Profesional, and very kind ! Very knowledgeable and they put my new sub and amp in very nicely! I love the sound !

Speaker installation great. Pioneer stereo no good. XM part of install no good. Too many trips to complete. Get XM signal only 26% of the time. Young lady claimed to be Geek squad manager has very poor customer service skills.

i would of never have believed that just a single 12"kicker compVr that came with factory speaker box rated around 550 rms would of possibly made my cars stereo so loud you could hear deep clean bass from 1/4 mile away or even further. i was pushing 103 db with the single 12" kicker comp VR wired at 2 ohm and mounted w/carpet kickers name embroided on the top of the box and ported w\ quick push down speaker wire connects/ a 2 chanel 1500 watt jbl harmon monoblock amplifier/ a 4 gauge wiring amp kit/ a 2014 chrysler uconnect navigation factory headunit with best buys brand of rca line out converter. the system hardly barely takes up 1/8 of my trunk space and you still take out the spare tire without having to remove the box. i was debating on upgrading my subs up to dual 12" kicker comp vr's next. my bass boost was turned all the way down to 0, gain was set at 1/2 and the frequency was tuned to around 75 hz with my low pass filter selected. I drove around for about 4 hours without the amp getting hot it felt slightly warm. My tech guy installed the jbl amp on the right side of the sub enclosure opposite of the vented slot so you could adjust the if needed.

the install was fast and professional. I have know complaints. but more importantly I love the fact that they warranty their work for life. so if I have any problems they fix it free of charge.

In the process of adding a four channel amp the Installer decided to use a different speaker wire then from the kit I purchased. This caused me to pay for the additional wire that came as an unexpected additional cost. I am not sure this was really need but I went with the advice from my Installer. I haven't any issues with the install and how it functions.

Good install of a 10" Kicker sub woofer in my 2008 VE Jetta. Only thing that kept it from 5 stars was I had to go back to fix a grounding problem with AM reception. Like to listen to sorts talk radio.

Jesse did a beautiful installation on my car audio system even built a amazing amp rack class A perfection. I'm fixing to get them to install a security system Thanks Geek Squad Love your work. Total Tech Support is the only way to go.
