I bought this to go along with my new Aquos 65' Sharp UHD TV since my old Danon was starting to overheat and die. It's smart and works right along side my tv. The tv remote turns it on and off and can also change the setting. It knows when the Xbox is on and has amazing sound. I only have 5 channels hooked up right now but it's still awesome! For the price I would highly recommend it!

This is my third Sony receiver. I bought this on because I wanted to use the new Bluetooth capabilities. The phone app works well with my iPhone, as it lets me control both the source selection on the unit and play music/podcasts/pandora from my phone. The only drawback is that I have to manually connect in the BT Settings screen each time I want to use it, but that only takes a few seconds. This unit will not play audio through Bluetooth. So if you have BT headphones, don't expect to be able to listen through them. The only other issue I have is the passive cooling system. My unit is in a bookshelf and tends to overheat. So I've installed mini computer fans to drive the hot air out.

I actually purchased this product reluctantly. I had an older Denon AV receiver that didn't have HDMI connections, but when I received the new Comcast cable box it didn't have the component connections I'd used before. So, it was time to purchase a new receiver. I spend a lot of time looking at specs for various models as well as user reviews. When I found this one it seemed to make sense. It had all the features I wanted, more power than the old receiver and lots of flexibility. The fact that my TV and DVD player were Sonys, and have been trouble-free, didn't hurt either. The price was right too, especially for all you get. I was a little nervous about doing the installation myself since I'd have to run new cables and figure out how to coordinate the remotes, but there was no need to worry. Once I'd run the new HDMI cable to the TV installation was very easy. The receiver walked me through it, and now I have more and better control than ever. The sound is great too. I played around with different options until found the sound quality I wanted. I tested it on the battle scenes in Pearl Harbor and it was just amazing. As far as usability goes, it's very simple now. Switching from the cable box to the DVD requires pushing one button, and there's no way to screw it up. (My old receiver had some options that could make it really difficult to go between devices if you didn't know what you were doing.) I'm really glad, because some of my family members are technology challenged and it could take a half hour to figure out what they'd done to undo it. Now you just hit the appropriate button and it takes you to whatever you want. It's been a great purchase, and as long as they don't come out with a replacement for HDMI I expect to get years of service from it.

Bought this to use with Polk, Sony, and Infinity speakers, and a Klipsch powered subwoofer, in a home theater system. I chose this receiver because I knew that when you use a receiver/amplifier with a powered subwoofer, the powered subwoofer takes care of the low frequency power requirements, freeing up all of the receiver's power to drive the other speakers. With all of the receiver's power dedicated to the frequencies above the frequency at which you set the crossover, you can use a receiver with less power than without a powered subwoofer to play very, very loudly without the receiver/amplifier overheating or the speakers clipping from lack of power. In this set-up, this Sony receiver sounds clean and distortion-free, and does not even get very hot, even at maximum volume. Without a powered subwoofer, even with very efficient speakers, the Sony's Protector system would activate to keep the receiver from overheating and being damaged if you even dared to approach maximum volume. I know this because my other system is a Sony STR-DH820 receiver connected to a system that includes two huge, very efficient MTX Monitor12 speakers as front speakers, and no subwoofer, and that is what happens if you try to play that system too loudly. I like my music loud, and with a monstrous Klipsch 12" powered subwoofer in the system, this receiver really delivers, therefore I did not have to spend more (I got this receiver on sale). Even at its full price, this receiver is the best value out there. I don't like the fact that in its specifications, the power is rated at 6 ohms, but most other manufacturers do the same thing, so they can quote higher power ratings. This receiver is loaded to the brim with decoding systems and sound fields, Sonys are exceptionally good for that. I also like the fact that this receiver has an adjustable 17-point (40-200 Hz) crossover for subwoofer(s). Also, I don't usually care too much what a receiver looks like, but this receiver has striking good looks, with its front panel buttons designed to blend in with the receivers architecture, it looks very high-end. Last, but not least, I know from previous experience, Sony receivers last forever, unlike some other brands. All in all, I'm very happy with this purchase.

I feel like I waited to long to upgrade my 15 year old receiver to something with HDMI INs/OUTs. Now I have all my components and gaming systems ran through this unit and it makes it much easier to switch inputs. I activated the pass through for all the devices so the sound can go through the TV so the receiver doesn't have to be on all the time and it is not all that loud when anyone is sleeping in the house. No need to watch Big Bang Theory in surround sound. I second reason I chose this receiver is because of the AB switch for speakers. On my old receiver I had the living room and my outdoor speakers near the pool tied to it. I wanted the same option because of my current wiring set up. Then lets add Bluetooth and now I can stream my music from pool side and control what I listen too. Usually I just had the radio. This unit looks real sleek on my cabinet. The display is not blinding bright. My unit did not come with a manual but I really did not need one. Although it might have helped me find some of the options faster within the equipment menu. Which by the way shows up on your TV screen and not just the little LCD on the receiver. As long as you know what you are looking for, it is really easy. For a beginner at setting up surround sound or pairing bluetooth, it may be a little more difficult. I have nothing bad to say about this unit. I am extremely happy with it. I just hope it lasts as long as my previous receiver.

My last receiver was an old Pioneer. Wanted something with more power and the hdmi connections. Best Buy had a great price before Xmas so I picked one up along with a Sony Blu-ray player. Set up was good although a manual would have been handy. There is one available on the Sony website. Bought Sewell banana plugs for the speaker connections. Made is a lot easier. Like the on screen menus for set up. Used the speaker microphone setup but still fine tuned it with the individual speaker adjustments. Running seven speakers along with two new subs. Amazing sound now, it rocks the room.

I'm still putting together my HT - speakers. I got this coz I couldn't get the STRDH850 at my local BB, which going for just $150 on clearance, so I miss the wi-fi feature. That said, the STRDH750 does have enough power to drive my monitor 60s, the sound is beautiful! I've not explored all its features yet but it executes its primary function quite well. Its important to note; I have it in an enclosed TV stand but I'm amazed it's not heating up like you'd expect. Even after an hour of use the unit still feels cool. Perhaps it will when I drive it harder? May be... The bluetooth feature works well with my iPhone and the app is convenient too especially if you are an FM radio listener. So far its another impressive unit from Sony (I'm a big fan). How well it fares when pushed harder, I'm yet to determine that.

I had a Onkyo receiver that the HDMI ports shorted out on, needed a receiver that was affordable and had relative ease of use. Was a bit skeptical with this product while hooking up, yet after installing and setting speaker ranges, this receiver was far better in performance than my Onkyo. Reason I gave it four stars was the setup mic was unable to read, so the quick start was unavailable. Sound quality, Bluetooth, ease of use, and clean appearance are fine trade offs for not having the quick start option. Overall I will not be hesitant on purchasing any Sony equipment ever again.

My Pioneer receiver output just quit for whatever reason. I wasn't looking for anything real expensive since I only have a 3.1 set up in my bedroom, but the high reviews from others, the sale price at the time I purchased it ($199.99) and the power output & features made me consider this model. I really like the option of being able to change the names of the inputs to match your equipment. Overall I'm very impressed with how easy this receiver was to set up and how much better my speakers and subwoofer sound now. I'm all set for 4K too which another plus. Sony built an excellent, easy to use receiver that has exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend this model, you won't be disappointed!

I decided to upgrade my receiver from an older one that did not have any HDMI ports on it. I chose this one due to it having 4k pass through and Bluetooth which were the most standout features to me. Most receivers have Dolby Digital, and DTS, so that wasn't such a big deal. 4k pass through- This options lets you send 4k video through HDMI from a signal source, through the receiver, and on to the display. This particular receiver does not upconver/upscale content from lower quality sources (1080p) to 4k. However, after doing some research, I have discovered that 4k TV's that are currently being manufactured already upscale or enhance the image to 4k. So a 4k pass through signal is all you really need. In the end, I wanted this feature for a bit of future-proofing for when I get my new TV. When I do I will update with my experience of the pass through feature. Easy Set Up mic- This was a good feature for those that don't want to spent hours setting up their speaker volumes individually. It is a mic that you place at ear level where you plan on sitting the most, you then run the easy set up from the menu's, it plays a few sounds from each speaker, and it adjust the speakers automatically. It worked great for my uses. On screen display- it places a menu on your connected TV far better than trying to read scrolling dot matrix displays on the receiver.

This unit sounds great, looks nice, and is easy to setup. Included microphone does the auto calibration easily. I haven't used the 3D or 4K features, or some of the more advanced features like the vocal height positioning, and I'm not quite sure if there's a way to manually adjust individual speakers...the auto calibration has worked just fine. There are some sharp pockets of destructive interference but that may be my speakers more than the receiver. The Bluetooth feature works great, as does the radio. Overall a very nice unit.

Replaced old (20 years) Sony receiver with new one for HDMI inputs to go with new tv. Used old surround speakers that came with first setup. Bluetooth connection is handy for streaming music. Movies sound amazing. With an optical cable and playing with settings, smart tv stuff sounds great too. Came with microphone to auto adjust, so setup was easy. Only have 5.1 speakers, but was a great replacement receiver for the price.

Hmmm... Should you buy this receiver? It depends on your needs. Obviously you knew that... lol... price... I caught the unit on sale at Best Buy. It is the outgoing model and the new model was out at the same price, but because this one is the outgoing model, I had already read a bunch of reviews on Amazon and Best Buy, so the features of the outgoing model was good enough for me. features... I went to the Sony website to do a comparison of the different models in order to help me make my purchasing decision. what was I replacing... I was replacing a Technics stereo that had a tuner, receiver, dual cassette player, and 5 disc cd changer that I bought in 1995! lol.... what was I considering... I wanted music throughout the entire house so I considered the Sonos system. why did I choose this receiver over the Sonos... long story, but the short version is that supposedly Sonos struggled with large music collections and did not have the power to power my Technics speakers. why did I buy this receiver... The most beautiful reason ever!!!!! I own alot of Sony products, but if you are in the market for a new receiver, you need to make sure that you not only check the amp ohms compared to speaker ohms, but you need to make sure your speaker amp has adequate power to power your speakers. This receiver I believe was 6 ohms and my speakers are 8 ohms. As a reminder... amps with 6 can power speakers at 8, buuuuut you should not try to use an amp with 8 ohms to power a speaker with 6... Just do your research on that.... The power was 130w for this amp and my speakers were 130w sooooo perfect fit. Oh... The Sonos was only 55 amps. Their customer service was responsive, but they did not seem to know much about the above that I just described. Back to uses/features... I run my Sony TV into the cable box, but my TV is old so I did not have an extra hdmi to run my tv into my receiver. This is important because I have to adjust volume using both the remote for the TV and then the remote for the receiver. I typically just mute the TV or turn it all the way down and just adjust volume on the receiver. I have 5 speakers for my Technics. The other thing is that you can download the Sony app if you want, buuuuut I chose not to... I am loving the Bluetooth feature which is the reason that I bought this receiver. I bought a large 200gb card for my cellphone and copied a large portion of my music collection on to my phone and now I can play that music straight off my phone through my receiver. Niiiiiicceee... The important thing to note is to put the receiver in standby mode and then you can select Bluetooth on your phone and automatically bring the receiver out of standby mode so you can play music. Oh... That is written down no where!!! lol.... The only other con that I have experienced recently which is the reason for the 4 instead of 5 stars.... Now, when I am watching TV, ever so often the volume will go out and I can't hear some of the words. I tried it on different channels and I am in the process of determining if this is truly a receiver issue or a broadcast channel issue... I know that was alot, but really the receiver is worth it if all you want is Bluetooth to play music from your cellphone instead of worrying about cds annnnnnd you need a receiver with enough power to power your speakers. The receiver does have all of these different television and music listening modes, but I tend to just leave it on multi-stereo.... My next project is to convert my cassettes to mp3s or to just pick and choose the cassettes where I will need to buy the download version from amazon so I can replace those in my music collection. As for my music around the house... My solution turned out to be quite awesome! I bought the Sony Bluetooth speaker with extra bass and the extra awesome part is that I also use my cellphone as my alarm clock now I have the Bluetooth speaker in my bedroom upstairs to play music and to use as my alarm clock. Before you ask... You can only connect one Bluetooth speaker at a time. I already checked... lol... The nice thing is that I can actually play my Sony receiver downstairs from my cellphone even when I am upstairs so it has plenty of range. In either case, good luck!!!!

This product is well worth the price. I have been a home stereo fan for about 20 years. I love using systems for movies and video games. I have experience with other makes from bose to onkyo. This product is comparable. Sound is awesome, set up is easy and use is even easier. The songpal app is much more user friendly than the receiver remote and interface. Two areas for improvement can be better instructions for novice users and the pass thru at times doesn't respond properly.

Good value for the price. I was replacing a very old Pioneer receiver that had finally given up. There are enough connections for all of the necessary peripherals and I am impressed by the ease of operation. I would have liked the ability to rename the various attached devices, but for what I paid I can live without that functionality. Bluetooth control from my iphone is pretty cool.

We recently upgraded our television to a 4K/3D set and were looking for a 4K/3D pass through receiver with plenty of power. We were expecting to pay more but got a great black Friday deal on the STRDH750 and couldn't be happier. Set-up was a breeze and coupled with our Logitech remote everything is so simple to use. Power is much better than our old receiver, esp. from the surrounds.
