Sony 4K Monitor that ALSO works for the PS5!

I love this monitor, the design is sleek and compliments the PS5 I have standing next to it. This is my first 4k monitor 27'' and it is AMAZING. full array local dimming, the blacks look incredible playing Horizon forbidden west; Absolutely stunning. As well as the colors just pop out. It supports VRR, ALLM, 120hz for the ps5. Absolutely amazing. Of course granted you have a HDMI or Display Port cable that can support 4k120hz. They don't supply one which is a bummer but luckily I have DP 2.4 so I didn't mind supplying the cable. Now I didn't mount it and I've seen some reviews saying it's a weird fit, I would say make sure you're mount is VESA compatible before picking this up, DO YOUR RESEARCH. I see a lot of people writing 1 star reviews saying the monitor is bad because they got a defective model and I have to say that's any product you buy and take a chance on. For me, I've had no problems with this monitor; not 1 dead pixel, perfect colors. If you can't do a TV then this is a great replacement if you're big on PC gaming, it's definitely pricy but worth it.

This iś the best screen you can buy in my opinion. Being a developer of learning courses and a light gamer, i wanted the best balance between image quality and response time. It also needed to closely match the screen on my surface studio. This was it. Excellent clarity on text great contrast ratio for an IPS screen of 80000. beautiful picture in SDR and HDR. Gaming was beautiful with the 144htz refresh rat and HDR. I also added a google tv dongle on the HDMI 2.1 so I can easily switch from productivity, gaming and entertainment. The Inzone program makes it very customizable. Use a thunderbolt cable for the best experience and easy updating. Only 2 drawbacks is the price. 700 would be much more appropriate. Also no cables in the box, I couldn't update it until i got the thunderbolt 4 cable,

Whether using a PC or PS5 the colors are amazing, brightness is good, picture quality is impressive . The 144hz is smooth and 1ms eliminates any blur in gaming. Movies looked crisp and clean. The display stand could have been better designed and feels a little unstable, but not a deal breaker. Would definitely recommend this monitor.

I was up in the air for a 4k 144hz computer monitor due to the prices and a bad experience with Dell’s 4k 144hz. It had awful off center viewing due to the anti glare coating they used. This class of monitors is also very expensive depending on what you’re looking for. So I ended up between this monitor, Samsung g7 28”, and a Gigabyte 27 or 32” 4k 144hz. This is my breakdown: Samsungs G7 28” seemed to be high risk for pixel and screen issues but a better price point. Gigabyte has a VA option which I like for contrast but really hate the smearing. They are personal a less “premium” brand in my personal option for the main reason them like MSI just slapping their name on a monitor where LG, Samsung, and new to the game Sony have much larger reputations in displays. Gigabytes IPS option didn’t seem bad but there were complains about buzzing and their 3 year warranty maybe not being so customer friendly. I should mention I skipped LG because their monitors seem to have the lowest contrast ratios by far and worse panel uniformity with backlight bleed. I’ve returned every LG monitor I’ve had except one. Their TVs are fine I have a C1. Getting to the point, I think Sony can make really great displays or I should say put very good image processing and bring good functionality to the displays they put their name on. I saw a video that showed Sony had an App for PC you can customize the monitor settings from a menu. I have no idea how no one has done this before. It is a welcome surprise. They get extra cool points for that. I didn’t mind how Sony does dimming on their TVs so I also was cautiously optimistic for the FALD backlight and dimming they have on this monitor. This is a to each’s own. After seeing the monitor in the store I was happy to see it was right on par picture quality wise with the Samsung and it’s dimming did seem to improve picture quality. Andddd I bought it, $100 off MSRP with the sale right now. I still think it’s overprice but man was it worth it. Color, brightness, and contrast with local dimming on high looks very impressive for a PC monitor. Colors are oversaturated and you can simply just turn down the saturation. But it pops, actually so much so when I switched to my C1 oled the colors looked dim haha. The local dimming helps the IPS glow and low contrast you catch in the corners of the screen. It really is very impressive how good of a job Sony did for a sub $1000 monitor. In terms of the stand, personally I think it’s fine. The monitor is at a fixed height but the stand takes up minimal desk space which I like. It really is a happy medium between IPS and VA panels. On top of that the local dimming is superior than Samsungs G7s short of their new $1000+ mini led monitors. It’s not to say it’s perfect, you get some glow and noticeable illumination in the areas on a dark screen but it’s very smooth. I don’t find it distracting because it’s not like seeing squares light up, it’s more diffused. If you’re on the fence, see if you can view this in a store. It is more expensive but after using it, it really is an excellent excellent monitor for the price. My use case is also only PC on display port and HDR off. I feel like HDR typically worsens picture quality because it makes the screen look faded even on an oled. Just my opinion so if HDR is your thing, I cannot comment on that. It looks incredible in SDR and the color saturation is wonderful. Knock on wood no issues for the first day. It’s worth a buy if you want something smaller than a full size TV to play on with exceptional software integration on your PC if you decide to use it that way.

Good picture quality and response time good, but I couldn’t justify $900 with all the short comings. Speakers, trash, would have been better not having them. Stand, awkward and the light at the back, virtually non existent. I almost kept it, but in the end was like, nah, it’s just not worth that sort of money… Sorry Sony, I typically stand by your monitor/ tv products, but this one just misses the mark. I was really hoping to keep this with my PS5… I still have the PS3 240hz 3D LCD gaming monitor which is holding up well and still seems comparable to this monitor…

Has nice display for Xbox Series X at 120hz and PC at 144hz if your PC graphics card is equipped. The PS5 Home overlay must be 60hz, but once you play something like Horizon Forever West then the 120hz kicks in. I think it's the PS5 startup Home screen is where some are thinking it's not displaying correctly. The PS5 Home overlay, would be a PlayStation issue, The Xbox Home screen for a long time wasn't showing full resolution and 120hz frame rate until a update. The stand I feel is bad. Most don't want a PS5 themed stand. It wobbles and has no swivel or real tilt. It can only move up and down, not straight up and down. You lose space if in down position because once moved down it comes down at angle forward on your desk. As for mounting it on your own stand, arm or wall. It's hard to find a mount without the other sizes built in. Which causes it not to fit in the slot that the included stand mount goes in. A issue I'm having it the PC Hub. I can't get anything to work out of those USB ports. I tried with different Sync modes. I've even just plugged a USB charging cable to see if power and no power. In case some say I have USB Charge (power off) in off position. I've tried both in the on and off. This feature is one of the reasons deciding on this monitor. As for price, if a few months ago then might be just a little high. Now it's too high for the features it brings compared to others that has recently hit market. Yes, most are higher, but most of those are with Micro LED and over 1000 nits of brightness might be worth it to some. This monitor is middle of road type with this high of price. That's why can't say would recommend. The Sony Inzone M9 monitor is still nice just not this expensive of nice.

The picture quality is superlative and the 120hz refresh rate gives PS5 games like Horizon Forbidden West additional oomph. My only gripe is the LED backlight (wish it was an OLED monitor) but I would much rather have 4k, 120hz and LED than 1440p OLED which is the current standard. In conclusion, this is rather pricey but the quality is remarkable for both productivity and entertainment.

Fantastic monitor. By far the best value. I tested several and this outperformed every single monitor under $1k. Amazing color and clarity with no input lag and stunning refresh rate. I highly recommend the M9 over everything in its price range. Not to mention it’s aesthetically pleasing. People hate in the stand but I love it as well. I have no need for a rotation stand so this suits my needs and it very sturdy and sleek.

I really like the color of this monitor. Sony has its own icc profile you can download. Has a nice smooth refresh. Has more various cable ports to keep it functional with Sony inzone products, including the recently released inzone earbuds. Has sound and monitor settings in the inzone app to fine tune setting. Works great with Playstation 5. All in a perfect size. Only complaints is the built in speakers could of been a step up as sony is good at audio on their tvs and sound bars. Also the rear legs of the tv stand look like an unfinished concept. But do work. This monitor can be mounted on a vesa monitor arm. Monitor does have rear led ambient lighting that can be adjusted in color and brighness, but it is still hard to notice in the semi lit room. Pricing is fair for technology options for a sony eco system of products or a pc that utilizes graphics for gaming or graphic and video design.

So I'm giving this a 4 stars because even after all the bad stuff, I think once the settings are all set, it can be a really good monitor, I also use reward points so I was able to justify the price I paid for. But definitely questionable at 899. But let's start with the good stuff: - The stand surprisingly isn't as bad as I thought. It takes up less space compared to the 27GP850 and the two side legs are solid aluminum so it's not cheap. - Colors are pretty good and vibrant. I think I got lucky and got a pretty good monitor as I don't have any noticeable back light bleed on mine or bad pixels. - I really like the FPS color present since it brights everything including dark colors so if you're playing a competitive dark setting game like DBD, you can easily see without things looking washed out. - Height and tilt adjustment, I really like that it goes really low. About 2 inches from the bottom. It has a pretty good tilt angle looking up so it's good if you like to bottom the height and tilt it up so you're looking slightly down while playing games. - FALD is really good. This is my first FALD so I can't speak with too much experience but I have it disabled when using it on my PC (DP input) to avoid the mouse blooming and have it enabled when I play on my PS5 (HDMI) Now for the bads: - Bottom bezel feels cheap. Seems like it's just a plastic piece that wasn't properly held into place since there's a gap. - OSD settings is confusing and lack there of. If you have HDR enabled either on PC or PS5, all presets are locked out (Picture Mode, Picture Adjustments, and ECO mode). So if you want to change your presets out of Game1, you have to turn off HDR. - Speaking of presets, lack of sRGB mode is disappointing as there is only a total of 5 modes (Standard, FPS game, Cinema, Game 1, and Game 2) which only Game 1 and 2 can be adjusted through Picture Adjustment (brightness, contrast, etc). - Specifically for PS5: EVERYTIME you open and close a game, the screen will go black and scan for input. I get that this monitor was optimized for the PS5 and so it might be doing it's color optimization for each game and such but it is so annoying especially when I can't even tell the difference. - A first bug I've noticed when using it on PC (display port) was when I turned off my computer and turned it back on, the DP input would scan for signal, then go pitch black. The only way I fixed it was to unplug the cable and power cable from the monitor then replug it back it. Hasn't happened again but considering that this monitor already has constant scanning for signals, this can be a huge deterrent. - Lack of cable, but I already knew what I was getting when I bought this and to me is not worth complaining about but just incase people don't read the "What's Included" section. - VERY SLOW signal scan whenever you change inputs. - Power brick is huge, like not an exaggeration.

I was gifted this M9 Inzone. I was so happy and excited upon receiving because I have a ps5. When I plugged my system in and powered on, I noticed little green dots on the screen. They weren’t bad, but it wasn’t good they were noticeable. It’s especially disappointing in gameplay when the scene cuts to a darker almost black play because the green dots are noticeable. It messes it all up. After two weeks, the spot has grown brighter. Around the dots is also almost a swirling of the green dots almost like a smear with the lighting in the system that’s about to mess up. I am so bummed out and so disappointing that this has happened to me. From reading other reviews, I’ve seen that it is common amongst this product. The picture quality is amazing. It pairs magnificently with the PlayStation 5. I really enjoy that. It has a cross hair feature with many to choose from that you can apply to your gameplay. Other than that the speakers aren’t good. The display issue I am experiencing is terrible. I am giving it a one star rating. Just be aware that this is common to happen. Thank you for taking your time to read this.

Easy plug and play, very impressed with the color, refresh rate and definition. The LED accent bar was a nice surprise. It's a first Gaming monitor Sony decided to put on the market and I do think they did a great job! This display comes with amazing characteristics - 3840x2160 panel resolution, 144Hz refresh rate (via DisplayPort, HDMI is 120Hz max), Adaptive Sync and G Sync compatible (so monitor rate matches your graphics card output rate), two HDMI 2.1 ports with low latency, full size DisplayPort 1.4 and a USB-C Alt DisplayPort inputs - it's ready go with your gaming PC, laptop, Mac or a Gaming Console (such as a PlayStation). All settings are available via On Screen menu (controlled via a small joystick on the back) or INZONE Hub software (Windows Only), additionally when connected to a PlayStation - monitor will automatically adjust it's mode depending on the type of content being played (Game, Movie, etc). Sony's 96 zone (basically 12 by 8 squares) back lighting system does help with contrast compare to an edge lit displays and puts it in between edge lit and OLED monitors. Now a few things that I hope Sony would fix - display stand being the first one. It looks great but kinda difficult to adjust properly, lowering the display brings it closer, there is no tilt available (you have to move the whole monitor), no portrait view either, however monitor is fully VESA mount compatible so you can come up with your own monitor mount if desired. Second thing is accent light on the back of the monitor - it can be adjusted between 13 different colors but it's super weak. Barely can light up the wall behind the display. And a third thing - USB-C port power output is limited to 15W only which is a bummer if you though you can power your laptop off the monitor using just a single cable for interconnection. Speaking of cables - all you get is a power brick. There are no HDMI, USB-C, DisplayPort or other data cables included. None. You expected to bring your own! Overall - it's a very good choice for Gamers, especially if you into PlayStation world!

This monitor has it all. Perfect size for me, not too big not too small. The 27” monitor has a very nice footprint for my desk. But more important are the specifications which result in terrific shows of light and dark – fantastic. Tip of the cap to the Sony engineers. The physical design is brilliant. I have never had a monitor that is so easy to adjust to get the right height and angle in addition to the solid way it hits the desk at three points and is firmly held by rubber feet. The refresh rate and other spec’s are all high end and the results are evident even if you are a little tired from playing. However, for me you need to ensure you have the official HDR certification and this monitor does have that. This ensures your best colors, brightness and more details. I ran some color schemes and attached some photographs that I hope folks can appreciate on their own screens. On this monitor, in person, I can tell you these images were breath-taking. I have some very nice monitors ranging from 21” to 32” inch screens with good specs, but they frankly can’t compare to the visuals and quick color changes, light and dark edges from this monitor that give you a great gaming experience even with just motorsport racing games. Try Horizon Forbidden West, for even more great colors and shading. Speakers are the weak point. It is handy to have the onboard units, but sound is a bit hollow. I did attach my Sony Inzone H7 headphones which provided excellent sound. Also the consistent design of the PS5 with the Inzone headphones and this Sony monitor makes for a very sharp setup. I highly recommend this exceptional monitor for games and also for using with your desktop or laptop setup.

I’m not sure where all the negative reviews are coming from, unless a few have gotten a defect product, but that’s with any company. You are playing the monitor lottery and gambling on a new panel no matter how much it is. If there’s something wrong, get a replacement. Now onto my review. I love this monitor. It’s crisp, the colors are beautiful and you can really tell a difference in the local dimming. The blacks look really really good. I see zero blooming even when playing a game like Dead by Daylight. Keep in mind, I’ve tested all of this on the PS5. The only bad thing I will say about the monitor is the stand. Not the design. They could have made it a bit more sturdy. There’s too many pros in my opinion that I just forget about the build entirely. When they labeled this as “Perfect for PS5”, it’s true. What other monitor has local dimming, and this kind of picture quality at this price range? None. If you’re on the fence, get this monitor.

Crystal clear 4k with jaw dropping hdr that also packs a punch with a buttery smooth 144 hz refresh rate. Highly recommend to anyone for both gaming and movies. The only drawback is the soeakers, but no where near a dealbreaker.

So far this monitor has been good but… I just can’t find right settings or best picture settings - I don’t have a problem with the stand or think that’s an issue compared to what others were saying - I feel like the price is too much… unless this was an oled monitor then I would understand - game visuals are locked fps mode, cinema etc so you cant customize them how you want them visually… so I’ve been struggling to find the best monitor picture settings for best quality. I play mainly cod and call of duty has terrible 4k support. Right now I have my settings as brightness- 90 contrast -75 saturation-67, hue - don’t change , gamma 2.4 , sharpness-100 depending on game, black equalizer- 2 , picture format - neutral

Good overall mointor with excellent SDR. I will admit i wasn't impressed with the HDR. Blacks looked washed out and grey. The amount of screen customization in the menu was nice, but all of the positives disappeared when i went to update the firmware. Sony forces you to download their "Inzone" app to make advanced screen settings and update the mointor. Downloading the app wasn't the problem. Getting it to work properly was the issue. For me this was one too many hurdles for what should have been a simple update. All in all if you're looking for a fantastic SDR experience, or don't mind a grey looking HDR, then i recommend the Sony M9 if you can find it on a sale. The full $900 price tag is a bit steep for full price, unless you absolutely need that sweet sweet 4k display.
