You get what you pay for with sony. Certainly cheaper options out there in this size tv. All things considered, 4k upconversion of cable tv, motion handling, gaming, versatility of air play for apple products and google tv offers the best smart tv platform imo. Certainly the chinese brands are cheaper but in absolute terms fall short of sony in picture quality when properly calibrated imo. Also makes a great computer/gaming monitor. I have apple tv box also with a sony soundbar and sub. Ease of use with arc and apple remote with great sound. Covers all bases for me. Hopefully it lasts a long time. Highly recommended

Amazing tv!! I love it so much and am happy I can finally get a smaller sized tv with all these specs. Picture is great and highly customizable. Refresh rate on games is smooth. Very bright. The sound is mind blowing for a tv these days. You wouldn’t really need a soundbar if you didn’t want to buy one! Only downfall is when it switches from 120hz to 60hz when switching games or switching video the screen goes black and makes a popping noise. Those transitions aren’t smooth. However that is not a make or break thing and kind of nit picky.

I spent hours and hours looking for a TV that could serve as a large computer monitor to replace my ultrawide setup (22-24-22 inch HD monitors) without sacrificing screen real estate. I also wanted a TV with a fast refresh rate for PC and console gaming. I will admit I was skeptical about going to Sony in a world with Samsung and LG, but after looking at other reviews, this TV beats those in its ability to multitask at a fraction of the cost. Positives: First, the picture quality is top notch, rivaling much more expensive Samsung and TCL TVs I have. Both of those, while great TVs, could not properly display my PC correctly, with text too blurry to use. The Sony, no problem displaying 4:4:4. Second, having two HDMI connections capable of VRR, a necessity for modern gaming, allowed me to connect my PC and my PS5, with an additional two used for legacy consoles. Third, a feature I didn't even think I needed, to automatically go to the input you set. In my case, it is primarily used as a PC monitor so this saves so much time. Negatives. Very few negatives but I do have some issues, mainly with Google TV. If I am switching between inputs or apps I have had it hang up on me an unusual amount of times. While not as buggy as Tizen (Samsung TV), it is frustrating to have to hard reset when it gets stuck. It is not a deal breaker, as I hardly switch inputs in quick succession, but it can be annoying. Last, the sound is a bit disappointing. I thought that the thicker depth of the TV would give it more oomph in the sound department, but my inexpensive computer speakers sound much clearer and have deeper bass than the speakers on this TV. All I can say is that it is very mid heavy. If you need a TV that can do it all and not spend a fortune, this is definitely the set to do it with!

Purchased primarily to use with a PS5 and XSX. Having two HDMI 2.1 ports (with one of them being for eARC) is definitely suboptimal if you need to connect two HDMI 2.1 devices and want to use a sound bar or home theater system via eARC with this TV. Picture quality with games is very good. Viewing angle is limited, but straight on is excellent. Response time is also very good with no noticeable input lag in game mode. VRR is available day one with a patch but requires changing the input type for the HDMI port manually. There is currently a sound bug with the PS5 where switching inputs can often cause the sound to go out with a PS5. Reproduced it several times. Need to restart the TV fully to correct. Sound from the TV is about what one should expect from a 43” TV. Definitely would benefit from a sound bar but one that uses optical inputs. There is no 3.5 jack. Setup is pretty straightforward. Several options for streaming apps. Overall, closer to a 4.5 out of 5 for me, but definitely needs a patch or two to address sound glitch and perhaps a better detection system for VRR.

Thank you so much for your review, GrayGamer. While we are thrilled to hear you are satisfied with the exceptional picture quality & great response time- especially when using it with your PS5 and Xbox Series X of our X85K, we are really sorry if you are having an audio issue after switching the input to your PS5. We truly appreciate your feedback with the available HDMI 2.1 ports and VRR feature of this TV.

For your audio issue, aside from restarting or power resetting, this problem can also be fixed by performing the following:
      • Software update - If you haven't yet, to ensure you are getting the most out of our X85K, we highly recommend updating its firmware to the latest version (v6.5770). The software includes key features, applications, bug fixes, and feature improvements. For more information, please visit the link below:
      https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/televisions-projectors-lcd-tvs-android-/kd-43x85k/downloads
      • Disconnect peripherals from the TV.

Setup was easier to do with my techie son, took about an hour. Beware that the legs are spaced 30" apart on the 43" TV, it barely fit on the tall dresser. Then I spent about 5 hours tweaking the settings, depending on whether it was regular cable tv or streaming video. (Had to sign in to all my video apps, another pain clicking each letter of the alphabet a hundred times, but you're once and done with that). Sound was a bit muddy until I set it to 5 on almost maxing out the dialogue enhancement, and I have excellent hearing. After the small tweaks to the settings, the picture really came to life. I did detect a momentary bit of a side-to-side motion stutter on the movement for certain action scenes (and oddly enough, people shaking their heads), even though I had it set to overcome that and the tv is 120hz. Not sure what is causing it. I made sure I bought the $50 certified gold HDMI cable (an unexpected expense) to get the best 4k transmission, even though Spectrum cable probably doesn't transmit in 4k yet, because I watch a lot of streaming video. Also, I hate the remote. I thought I was getting an extra remote with number buttons on it, but apparently that is only done with the 85J models, not this year's 85K model. Remote has tiny labels, buttons are hard to find in dim light, not easily discernable by touch, and no backlight. Instructions are minimal at best, no really in depth manual is available that goes into detail on all the settings. I still haven't figured out if I have voice commands or not, haven't been able to get that working. I am still stuck using 2 remotes, like my old tv, one for cable and one for streaming. Universal cable remote from Spectrum was paired properly to new TV but lacks certain functions, so I need the Sony remote to watch streaming video. But all in all, it's a big improvement over my old 2015 model (different brand). I'm sure I'll be making a few more adjustments before I'm completely settled in with it. A better manual would REALLY help with that. Since my old TV was no longer going to get streaming video from Hulu, Peacock, Paramount+, HBO Max, etc., and I didn't want to use a Fire Stick, I decided to upgrade, Glad I did, nice to have it all on one screen. PS - I called Sony twice to see if I could get the remote with the number buttons like they offered with the 85J. One rep said I could order it and gave a part #, for $50. When I looked up part # in their link, it was for the 85J, not 85K. I called back, was given another part # for 85K. Tried to find it to buy, it was only available for 85K models sold in the U.K. So I'm still trying to find a compatable, fully functioning universal remote with number buttons for this model (Sony if you're listening...help).

Great TV for what it costs. If you are someone who likes to game and has the Next Gen consoles that support 4k and/or 120 FPS this tv can get it done and look pretty good. It isn’t as good as OLEDs or other higher end tvs but it doesn’t feel cheap or poor quality. Watching content is nice and offers a good verity of ways to tweak the picture display to suit your taste. HDR is also nice. It can reach reasonable brightness/Dimness levels. and sound is also very good and it supports Dolby Atmos for TV which won’t be beating any sound bar/speaker set up but it a good if you don’t have those.

What a fab tv! It’s everything I could have wanted in a tv and more! Sled lines, super thin body, clear visuals all the way wedge to edge, not too heavy or too big, and just perfect for the bedroom! I get extremely clear, reliable, crisp picture quality and true, authentic sound. With its wonderful built in streaming, I can watch just about anything I want and streaming couldn’t be easier! Set up took just minutes. I’m a senior lady and no computer wiz and I just loved having a great tv that I could set up all on my own without having to ask my kids or my next door neighbor to do it! I get to watch all my favorite old tv shows and vintage movies (plus there’s all kind of current movies and tv shows) and I feel like I have my own perfect in-home theater. I chose Sony and Best Buy because I know I can count on them for a great price and a quality product for years on viewing enjoyment!

I went from an entry-level smart LG 43 from 2016. The backlight LEDs started to dim/burn out on me after eight years. The size is perfect my my media niche, so I kept to a 43" screen. The in-store unit's video was vivid, smooth and clean. For gaming, the X85K paired nicely with my Xbox Series X. Didn't have to change many settings to optimize the picture. Very smooth and clear. For media streaming, I use Plex, YouTube, Prime Video, and (HBO)Max regularly with the apps readily available on the Google App Store. Quick operation. Rare hiccups occurred only with other wifi devices downed by the internet connection on my ISP's end. Note that for my sound solution, I bluetooth this to a Marshall Stanmore II. No noticeable lag between video and sound, thankfully! I'd be happy to purchase another one if these if a situation called for it. Hopefully it'll be years before the need to replace. I'd go with what's available at that time. I'd feel confident in this one if it were substantially less expensive than its successor!

I almost didn’t buy it due to this … but it’s ok , screen gets super bright on things designed or recorded for brightness.

Perhaps this is a great device for streaming. I use it for over-the-air and have very mixed feelings. HD broadcasts look great and the up-scaling is excellent. UHD broadcasts look great when everything is working. But there are occasional freezes and failure to acquire a signal when switching channels. Error messages in these situations are confusing. Sometimes the error message persists even after the TV eventually acquires the channel. During the year I have owned the TV this situation has improved but is still quite present. The remote has no number keypad for direct entry of channels and no previous channel key. The keys it does have are nicely laid out and have a nice feel. I bought a third party remote with those missing keys and use it a lot for the missing functions. But the feel and layout are not as nice as the Sony remote. The review page requires making a selection under would you recommend. But the truth is in the middle - read the review.

I’m very happy with this purchase. The sound and picture quality are excellent and it's fantastic for gaming. Coming from a regular LCD TV, you can definitely tell the improvement with this 4K model. I also love how seamlessly it integrates with my phone, other mobile devices, and Alexa. Overall, it’s a great smart TV that delivers a top-tier experience. The only downside and the reason I’m giving 4 instead of 5 stars is that the voice control feature often misinterprets “Max” and opens “Maps” instead. It gets a bit frustrating, especially when using voice commands frequently. Still, I would highly recommend this TV. It's a solid investment with lots of useful features.

All around a great TV, amazing color and contrast and good refresh rate for gaming! In addition to that it has good streaming and picture quality. only reason for the 4 star and not 5 is that is sometimes says Netflix and Prime streaming is unavailable, may not be the TV's fault though. This is my first foray into 4K TV technology and I must say it's very impressive, the colors, the contrast, and the lighting are excellent. It qas also a fair price for a Sony but I don't use anything else. My only 2 complaints are the TV has no buttons on it so if you lose the remote you cant really use it, and the second is they removed the red, white, and yellow video connections. Alll and all I'm still satisfied with the product overall.

I was looking for a TV that could do 120 frames with my series X. After much research, I settled on this tv, as OLED were just a bit too much to convince the wife on spending. After playing with the picture settings, movies and games look incredible, and there are plenty of controls to tweak the picture to your preferences. This set is probably one of the better ones to get outside of getting an OLED. I really can't say anything about the sound quality, as I also picked up a Vizio sound bar as well. Most TVs need something with a little more punch to the sound now anyways. I do like having the HDMI ARC to the soundbar, so that the tv remote controls the volume of the soundbar. Additionally, the TV being a Google tv is a bonus for our household, as we use Google to manage our smart devices.
