Customers are saying

Customers recognize the 55" Class 4K Ultra HD TV's exceptional picture quality, vibrant colors, and ease of use. Many appreciate the 3D capabilities and the effective upscaling of lower-resolution content. However, some users find the remote control somewhat difficult to use, and a few have noted concerns about input lag for gaming. While some consider the price point high, the overall positive feedback highlights the TV's strong performance in key areas.

    Awesome TV

Right out of the box, this 4k TV worked without a flaw. The picture is outstanding in all lighting conditions. For sports, football never looked better. You can count the pores and beads of sweat. Streaming from Netflix looks great and our wi-fi worked right off the bat with minimal fuss once the various passwords were typed in. The sound is crummy of course but our five year old home theater unit worked without any hitches. Once through the setup - again straightforward both the Sony and the Comcast remotes work fine. With ample HDMI plugs we got rid of a switch box and now connect all through the TV. Picture in picture works great. Absolutely no surprises. Exactly what we expected but the image quality is really flawless to my eye.

    Great TV, But Disappointed

Beautiful picture except for HDR titles (4K HDR Blu-ray discs and Amazon Video HDR), which are too dark to enjoy. When playing HDR titles the picture mode becomes locked to HDR Video. Need to be able to change picture mode to other settings (we prefer Vivid) that are available for non-HDR titles. Sony support promised me a software update in December and then March to fix this issue. Didn't happen. Fix wasn't even addressed in an update provided a week or two ago. Long-time Sony TV customer.

Great TV. Love the features and the picture is awesome. The 4K really makes a difference when watching movies. Stand came damaged which is disappointing. Also the setup was very confusing. Giving picture is nice but way to many lines to lines and no words. Lack of manual makes it even more frustrating. Other issue was no explanation as to what the IR Blaster is or what it really does, Sony website manuals when trying to retrieve has given us errors so still really have no manual

When it comes to 4K UHD I wanted to get the best picture possible without having to spend extra money for an OLED. This TV delivers the goods! The image is crisp, bright and has rich blacks. It gives a very natural color to faces, especially close-ups. Just streamed Moana and was blown away by the amazing colors and brightness. I did a lot of research before making this purchase. I am very happy that I chose Sony.

Just got the tv a few days ago and the picture is awesome. Can't wait to get a 4K Blu-Ray Player to really show off what this thing can do. Great job Sony!!! You've really outdone yourselves for 2016!!!

This TV has an amazing and vivid picture. The 4K content on Netflix and Amazon are unbelievable. The regular HD content is upscaled to almost 4K quality. A great TV that delivers in all aspects.

I seen the reviews for this tv and they were positive reviews. So I went to purchase this tv and kept it for a couple of days and I was a little disappointed. The 4k quality of this tv is decent but not bright enough to have the colors as vivid as Samsung. I messed around with the settings to try and get the best vivid picture I can get but nothing was working. I even turned up the brightness all the way up and still wasn't vivid enough. So picture quality was a NO for me. The sound quality is terrible. I couldn't believe how bad the sound was on this tv. When playing ps4 or xbox one I couldn't hardly hear anything even when the volume was turned up to about 50. So the sound quality was a definite NO for me. On the positive side I really like the android TV integration. The menu is nice and the voice recognition is a nice touch as well. So after trying to like this tv for a few days, I gave up on Sony and returned this TV for the Samsung UN55KS8000F which in my opinion is a way better TV than this. But if you choose to buy the Sony TV please buy a soundbar because you will need it...Seriously you will need it.

    Great TV Until It Breaks

Bought TV April of 2016. Picture is very good especially with 4K Content. Great for watching sports. Was fairly easy to install and setup. It was missing the mounting screws but BB was able to find some in a box of of misc parts at the Magnolia counter. Early last week the TV died. Worked one night. Next afternoon, dead. No lights, nothing. Called support and after troubleshooting Sony sent me a new power adapter that arrived 4 days later. Replaced it but nothing changed. Called again and I guess they are sending out a tech from a company called WWTS. I've received a couple emails but neither had any real info in them. I placed the second call Saturday and it's now Tuesday. I guess I would say that support is not exactly great. It's slow and they don't keep the customer very informed. For that reason I would not recommend it.

    Buggy, but servicable.

Though not as good a picture as the OLED competitors of it's era, the Sony had a pretty good picture, lots of inputs, and was extremely customizable due to the Android OS it's U.I. is built on top of. This has made it great / easy to get whatever apps I want on it, well before most other platforms were supporting emerging apps. Though not the most intuitive U.I. on shipping, it has seen incremental improvements over the years with patches. However, input delay has and continues to be massive, with the TV frequently taking over 4+ seconds to respond / show inputs from the remote. This often makes basic tasks like adjusting settings to be a frustrating and time consuming process. As some others have noted, the sound is pretty "meh," which is sadly rather common practice now, with manufacturers expecting customers to buy a separate sound solution. In short, pretty good picture, highly customizable, but sometimes buggy and frustrating.

I have had more than my fair share of televisions they have been the latest and greatest each time I've purchased a tv. I'm very very picky and won't settle on anything. With that being said I spent about a month researching different tv's and options within each one. I have exhaustively done side by side comparisons. It came down to the Sony xbr55x930D , the Samsung KS9800 and the LG OLED. After putting them all through calibration test and going over every single option doing side by side comparisons . It came down to just 1 clear winner and that was without question the Sony xbr55x930D. It has by far the best picture and will just simply blow you away with how great everything is. (Speakers excluded) home system fixes that problem. It has every feature of the competition plus more way more. All works flawless. Perfect TV! Thanks Sony!

I am a little frustrated to say the least with Sony and the quality of the product they are pushing onto us. My wife and I have been saving for sometime to upgrade to a 4K TV to make a movie room, we read reviews about them and we had almost decided to buy the Samsung 9000 series unit. We were stopped by the Sony rep inside the store and given the entire pitch, the Sony had a nice picture and the new style had "better black" processing so we went with his recommendation. It's been little over 6 months and the unit is blown up, I honestly think we watched 8 movies and a couple programs on TV and then one day it won't turn on. Unit has been in the shop and they just keep throwing parts at it cause they can't figure out what is wrong with it. ALL I KEEP ASKING IS GIVE ME A NEW ONE PLEASE... Nope, not going to happen, against their warranty policy. So here it is Super Bowl Sunday and no AWESOME SONY 4K television to watch it on. I really don't want this TV back cause who knows what's going to break on it next, I have ZERO faith in this Sony product and I am stuck with it. Give me my $1799.00 back I paid for it and let me buy another brand with more reliability... My opinion only, I will never buy another Sony product or recommend a Sony product to family or friends after this experience...

My first week with this TV has been frustrating. Paired this set with new Sony STN-DN860 A/V Receiver for 4K and network capabilities and to take full advantage of Bravia Sync. First issue was sound/Bravia Sync issue because of Bright House/Arris cable box disabling Bravia Sync. It seems the CEC link in the HDMI cable was disabling audio return channel through the HDMI cable. Got a workaround for that after much research on Google. So after getting past that issue I discovered the only application that supports multi channel audio is Netflix! All others, Amazon, Sony's Ultra and Plex only have 2 channel out to receiver. Dolby 5.1 surround works fine from the Bright House box through the SAT/CAT input on the receiver and playing video file from a USB drive directly on the TV. Upscaling of the cable tv picture is very impressive as though. Hopefully these issues will get addressed soon through firmware updates, but for now IMO it's not quite ready for prime time. I am thinking of getting a Roku 4 in the mean time as I am tired of dealing with it for now.

Just purchased this unit last night and was reading the setup guide and checking the items etc. I noticed that the DC power cord that goes from TV to the HUGE AC Transformer Power and cord is NOT in-wall rated and should not be used. That is total BS. such a beautiful TV only to have a cord hanging because of Sony. It's great if it's on the stand but otherwise BS.

I was very excited for this purchase. I needed a 3D tv for a project my business is working on, and was very impressed when I first turned the new tv on. Within 10 days the bottom of the tv had a row of pixels out. I took it back to the store and exchanged it for a new one. When I turned the second one on none of the apps worked, nor did the voice recognition software that worked so well with the first tv I bought. Now I have to take it back to the store for the second time in one day.

I bought this thing 3 days ago, and am considering returning it. I'm not that thrilled with the picture quality, and have spent an unacceptable amount of time trying to get everything to work. I still haven't figured out how to get the remote to turn my UVerse cable box on and off. Called Sony customer service for help. First try: after about 10 minutes waiting for an agent, my call was dropped. Second try: I explained the issue to the non-native English speaking agent, who said someone would call me back. I'm still waiting--more than a day later. Starting yesterday, and continuing through today, I've been trying to register this thing with Amazon Video. After the Amazon rep failed to figure it out, she connected me with Sony ... again, whose agent told me someone would (you guessed it) call me back. Still waiting. I tried using the voice function on the remote to see what football games were on (New Year's weekend) -- all I got were advertisements for various apps. The 'flat' screen isn't all that flat--presented weird wavy reflections during daytime watching. The only reason I haven't brought this albatross back to Best Buy is the thought of reversing all those non-verbal Sony unpacking instructions to get it back in the box.
