Still no vrr and its Feb 2022 but the older tv from 2020 got vrr update. Other than that for streaming, tv and gaming pic is great. If looking for a mid range price tv you all should seriously consider sonys x90j.

While the X90J supports 4K120Hz and Dolby Vision, the TV does not support Dolby Vision at 120Hz at the same time. The VRR feature of the X90J will be coming via future firmware update. Please check the TV model at our support website (https://www.sony.com/electronics/support) for product updates and announcements. Currently, only the X85J and X91J series supports the VRR feature. Picture ,sound, color is great. had bought another brand from Wal mart it was awful so we already have a Sony in the Livingroom and had for yrs and no problem and beautiful picture and color and sound so went back to the Sony for the bedroom .

Just take note that the legs are very far apart on this TV. I knew this going in and purchased a swivel stand that sits on top of our furniture. Beautiful picture. The one caveat keeping it at 4 stars rather than 5 from me is that its supposed to have variable refresh rate capability, but that apparently won't be enabled in software until some unspecified later time. That's not a deal breaker for me, but it is still the situation as it stands. Great tv, beautifully performant panel, but missing a feature its being sold as having. If you don't care about variable refresh rate, this is still one of the best LED tvs money can buy. You can find more-or-less equally good tv's for a bit less money, but they're also generally a bit less good in some ways that you'll have to decide for yourself as to how important those might be. Sony tends to make really good tvs, and this one is a really good tv held back from being truly great by Sony shipping it without VRR functionality.

Also it's kinda annoying VRR isn't supported on the HDMI 2.0 ports. Using Bluetooth ear buds has noticable lip syncing issues. Speakers are also not so great. Otherwise it has great gaming features and a satisfactory picture.

The picture and sound do not match because the sound is delayed due to the properties of Bluetooth. You can adjust the output timing of the picture and sound with the A/V sync setting. Please follow this link for more details:

Huge step up from Mitsubishi rear projection CRT

This is a good way to compare picture quality. The demo reel they have on is construed to look great on all of them... But you can use the remote control to go to the Home page and at least compare that on each one. I'm really happy with this TV so far. It's a huge improvement over the rear projection CRT that it's replacing. Picture quality is good. I haven't noticed local blooming concerns yet. Audio quality is way better than I'd expected for built in speakers, but I output to a separate home theater system anyway (and that is much better). Disappointingly, the remote control isn't "universal." I can't program it to control my AV receiver. I think that I'd need to replace the receiver with one that has HDMI ARC and/or eARC in order to get power/input/volume control on it.

Graphics look amazing on this also comes with one hdmi 2.1 port which is important if you are looking get the full experience of your next Gen console.

I am just an average user and only stream TV. I have owned many sony tv's over the year and never had an issue with the brand. Same goes for this purchase. It was very easy to setup the setup guide was easy to follow. It has a great picture, a unique and impresive simulated surround speaker system. What more can you ask of a TV. I decided on this model because when compared to more expensive unit(Although this ws not a cheap set) I could not see the value of spending more when I couls not see an improvment. You can not go wrong with this TV.

However 4K @ 120Hz now functions and looks as it should. Color accuracy also not as good as last year, with a bit of a green tint especially in Dolby Vision. Does get brighter than the x900h though. All in all probably the best gaming LED TV you can get, and pretty decent for videos and movies.

Sony TVs are too pricey for what they deliver

You can get similar picture quality from the high-end TVs from TCL or Hisense at almost half the price. Get added insurance with a TCL or Hisense if you are hesitant about how long the TV will last. Still overall will be cheaper.

The set-up process was not documented all that well but most of the steps were an automatic run thru process. I did have to look up a couple of Youtube videos to get the proper settings. Overall I would say this is a good tv not a great one, for the cost of it, I'm a little disappointed. The corners of the display are not well lit. In most cases of scenes with a lot of color it's not that bad, but when there is a lot of white or lite solid color you notice the corners being dark and its not as bright as I would have hoped for. Another minor issue is this tv is pretty slow to aquire a signal. When it starts up you have to look at a splash screen with what hdmi port is connected and that the internet is connected, then after about 10 seconds the picture comes on. Overall not the best value for the money, if it lasts a long time maybe that will increase though. They ask in the review process if you would recommend this tv, I would say yes because I believe Sony makes a quality product; but no if you want the most bang for your buck.

And with regards to the TV taking some time for app icons to appear on the Home menu or the picture to display after turning the TV on, To improve the situation, use the remote control to turn the TV off and on instead of unplugging and plugging back in the AC power cord.

Fantastic look but mising features

The TV desperately needs variable refresh rate and dolby vision for gaming though. It is also kind of anniying that one of the two hdmi 2.1 ports is taken up by the arc port so if you have two game consoles you have to swap the hdmi cable
