    Amazing Picture, Bad Product

The panel on this TV is magnificent. I truly have never seen a better picture on a display. If the only thing you care about is the panel you won’t be disappointed. The rest of the TV though does not measure up to that high bar. When removing the plastic packaging tape that wraps the TV the tape clung to and pealed away the plastic covering on the frame of mine leaving ugly defects along the bottom center of the screen. Sony refused to honor the warranty and I’m left with high-glare detatched plastic running along the bottom of the TV. Sony assures me this is not a manufacturing defect so expect the same on yours. The TV also struggles with my Sonos Arc Ultra - the TV sets the sound to 0 when I turn it on and Inhave to manually turn it back up every time. Once a week the TV stops emitting sound and I have to pop the back cable cover off the TV and unplug and replug it to get the sound bar working again. The bar works fine with other TVs. Overall fantastic panel shipped in a junk product.

Thank you for sharing this detailed feedback, SadTVOwner.

We are genuinely thrilled to hear your high praise for the K-65XR80M2 panel, and it is rewarding to know you believe you have "never seen a better picture on a display." Delivering magnificent picture quality is our primary focus, and we are glad that aspect is meeting your expectations.

However, we are truly sorry and concerned to read about the significant issues you have experienced regarding the packaging, the frame defect, and the ongoing, persistent communication problems with your soundbar. We sincerely apologize that the overall experience has fallen short of the premium standard you deserve.

We understand how frustrating it is to have a cosmetic defect on your new, premium television, especially one caused during the removal of protective materials. We regret that our previous support response did not satisfy your concern regarding the damage. We take quality control and packaging seriously, and we will share your specific experience regarding the tape adhesion and the resulting peeling of the protective plastic with our packaging team for immediate internal review.

We acknowledge that the volume resetting to 0 and the weekly need to unplug/replug the HDMI cable are unacceptable disruptions, and we apologize for this daily inconvenience. These issues typically point to a persistent communication conflict between the TV (CEC) and the soundbar.

We would like to help you resolve this so you can enjoy the seamless operation you expect. Please try the comprehensive troubleshooting steps outlined in our Community response, specifically performing the CEC Handshake.

If you would like direct, personalized assistance to resolve the soundbar issues, or if the problem persists after troubleshooting, please contact our dedicated support specialists here: https://us.esupport.sony.com/support/s/support-contact?language=en_US&category=tv

We are committed to helping you find a solution and truly regret that the surrounding components have detracted from the panel's magnificent performance. Thank you for bringing this to our attention and for choosing Sony.

We purchased this tv for a large room with big windows. No matter the setting, our previous tv struggled to combat the glare and really lacked contrast which we were never really able to combat even when taking measure to darken the room. This tv has incredible high contrast, deep deep blacks, and vibrant colors. Those previous issues are totally solved with the purchase of this tv.

The Sony Bravia 8 II has an outstanding picture — deep blacks, vibrant colors, and impressive clarity that make everything look lifelike. Motion is smooth, and the overall viewing experience is excellent. I used Best Buy’s Geek Squad for delivery and setup since it’s a large 65-inch TV, and I’m glad I did. They handled everything carefully, made sure it was in perfect condition, and had it up and running quickly. The Google TV interface is easy to navigate, and my Sonos Playbar pairs perfectly for great sound. The design is sleek and modern, and I couldn’t be happier with the result. Highly recommend both the TV and the Geek Squad setup service.

Worth the wait. I'm a Movie guy and not into gaming so what I look for in a TV is more on the 'movie theatre' experience. Amazing performance. A tree is a tree and the black/dark scenes are just that, no strange weird shading or discoloration when a screen is attempting to project Black. Sometimes I spend 10 to 15 minutes just watching my Google Photos because it's just fun and satisfying to watch the screen saver high def pictures. I can see the whiskers on my Pomchi. No buyers remorse, no looking at other reviews, case closed. Best purchase of the year and I feel my hard earned money was put to good use.

The TV to beat for PQ accuracy and refinement

With the exception of a cheap TCL and a Samsung Frame for guest rooms, I've stuck with Sony TVs for the last 15+ years for the picture calibration, ergonomics and overall quality. There's a reason Sony TVs are noticeably heavier than their Samsung equivalent - they are built to a higher standard. Out of over a dozen units across my family, not a single TV has failed - even my 2009 XBR9 is still going strong. So disclaimer that I have a bias towards the brand. I have also purchased 4 other Sony OLEDs - the A8H, A9S, A80J and A80K, and have seen the incremental improvements over time. I pulled the trigger on this despite the mixed RTINGS review and general consensus that the latest LG and Samsung flagships have some brightness and feature advantages. Initially, I was struck by how nuanced and film-like the picture was - it really looked quite different from any other TV I've used before - but SDR was shockingly dim in Cinema/Professional modes. It turns out there is a critical setting you MUST change - Peak Luminance. Make sure this is set to "High" before you evaluate! I have been using Professional mode with settings close to the RTINGS calibration, with a couple tweaks to taste. Once set up, the picture quality is shockingly cinematic, natural and refined. Motion is buttery smooth without resorting to any interpolation processing gimmicks. Dolby Vision content on Netflix has a film-like warmth and subtlety to it, with impressive dynamic range between dark and bright scenes. It's not just that brightness and shadow detail are better than my other OLEDs, which they are, but it captures the "feel" of different scenes much more completely. Dusk and nighttime scenes really feel like dusk and night rather than just being dim, and daytime scenes have a realistic brilliance to them. And different films/shows look more differentiated from each other, giving a stronger sense of the aesthetic the director was aiming for. It reminds me a lot of upgrading to very high-end loudspeakers (I'm a wacko audiophile) that have better frequency response and resolution - not everything sounds better (in fact, bad recordings often sound worse), but you can hear so much more range and detail to everything. While I've never used a mastering monitor before, Sony's claims that this is the closest they've gotten to studio quality in a consumer TV resonate - it feels like you are that much closer to the original source. My other OLEDs, while still great, look decidedly more "ordinary" now. It's my first QD-OLED so I can't say how it compares to other brands or the A95L, but I will say it handles my very bright living room well - it's very watchable in daylight (not direct sunlight mind you) with minimal glare and washout and wide viewing angles. By comparison, an older X900F LCD I had was literally unwatchable in the same conditions. I'm using a Sennheiser Amber soundbar, so can't comment on built-in sound quality. Android TV UI isn't as fast as e.g. a Google TV 4K Streamer, but quite snappy which is a relief given my A8H has become borderline unusable with Android 11. Hopefully the cpu/ram in the Bravia 8 II will be sufficient for a while. All in all, a great TV that I plan to keep for a long time. Recommended!

So far I am happy with this purchase. The different brands have their various pros and cons. The Sonys have better motion handling than Samsung and support dolby vision. I would have knocked it down a star for how expensive it is when you can buy another brand's 2024 model for a third of the price... but the current pricing is in line with the top tvs of the other manufacturers. Personally, I think the 65 inch should be more like $2300, though. The Sony oddly does not have nearly as high of a max brightness as the other brands, but it outdoes them in clarity and crispness of the picture, which I care more about. Most people will still want a sound bar of speaker system, but the onboard audio on the 65 inch is probably the best onboard audio of any current tvs on the market. The one thing I wish they had done better at is the out of the box calibration. Some professional review sites showed it not having very great out of the box calibrations like some monitors have been having.

I purchased a 65-in Sony Bravia 8i and I can only say this TV is nothing short of spectacular. I have a 65-in Panasonic z95b in the living room and this Sony TV in the bedroom and I love it just as much as the Panasonic. It's not quite as bright as the Panasonic, but the qd OLED colors are absolutely stunning. I do love the Google OS much better than the Amazon OS. It is neat seeing how even though both TVs are OLED the difference between qdoled and the primary four stack OLED.. I will say the Panasonic has more three-dimensionality but the Sony has a unique look to it when watching movies and TV shows that I feel you only get from the Sony. The QD OLED oled colors are unmatchable and I was debating between the Sony and the Samsung s95f and I'm glad I went with Sony as I just feel like it's a more premium television and I prefer the glossy panel over the matte. I also believe the Sony like the Panasonic will last much longer than the Samsung or LG oleds due to a better cooling system. I feel like This TV will last much longer before burn in is an issue then the Samsung or LG G5. The sound is extremely good for television speakers also much better than the Samsung or LG. It doesn't match or come near the Panasonic but that's to be as expected as that TV comes with its own soundbar and speakers going up the left and right side as well as on top. Overall, I am more than happy with the Sony Bravia 8 Mark II and would recommend this TV to anybody as Sony just makes some of the best TVs for Cinema watching. I will say however, if your preference or main use is gaming then I would go with LG G5 or Samsung s95f or even Panasonic z95b unless you are only gaming on a console, In which case the 120 HZ panel is all you can get out of PlayStation 5 or Xbox series x and the Sony does match that

I had the 47 inch LG C5, then needed a bigger screen. Watched many reviews on Youtube before deciding to get the Sony Bravia 8 ii. It is quite a difference between the two products. The SDR is noticeable better on the Sony, along with gaming. The visual HDR in gaming is very noticeable as the Sony gives better colors and pop. I watch 4k HDR Youtube videos, and when i put the picture in Cinema Mode, wow oh wow I couldn't believe how great the picture quality is on this TV. I'm sticking with Sony, I only went with the LG C5 bc it was going to be my bedroom TV. I'm so glad that i upgraded.

Our Sony TV Beats the Movie Theater

We finally bought a new TV to replace our 2016 LG secondary to realizing that the old technology was not working. It has been so refreshing to be able to stream a huge variety of shows/movies without difficulty. It is so nice to see detail and color as it should be. The salesman at Best Buy was not pushy; he in fact showed us a large variety of TVs ; from the lower cost less known brands which we requested when we first came in, to a higher priced Sony. After a couple of hours; we decided that at our age (early 80s); we deserved to be able to watch clarity, good color, etc. since we do not go out that much and haven't been to a movie theater since pre-Covid. I am so thankful that the wonderful young salesman had the patience to deal with older customers and on a recent visit to Best Buy; we let them know.

Absolutely the best TV I've ever bought. I have it in a room that gets a lot of sunlight with the windows behind it. It reduces reflection really well using dolby vision bright and vivid. Thr picture is amazing and the black levels are the best I've seen even in bright rooms. I replaced a 2018 LG C8 OLED and this TV is worth every penny at 3K. I also switched out all my cables including Ethernet cables with high end audioquest cables (apple TV, ps5, bose ultrasound bar) and noticed a significant difference with picture/sound clarity/streaming clarity. If you buy a Sony at this price point, spend the extra money for high cables to maximize performance ($50-$70 a pop). I look forward to years enjoying my favorite movies as well as gaming experience with ps5.

I’ve owned this TV for about a week and I feel confident that, despite the high price tag, this was an excellent purchase. The picture quality is simply superb across all types of content I’ve played on it, including 4K Blu-Ray films like Oppenheimer, streaming shows like The Last of Us, or live sports. It works flawlessly with my Apple TV and Sonos audio system. And it’s bright. Picture quality remains clear and enjoyable in our brightly lit living room. Genuinely, I love this TV. $3500 for a 65” TV is expensive, but it’s worth it when I know this screen will be with us for a long time to come.

It's great to hear that the stand design is working so well for you, allowing you to neatly place your soundbar. We believe that a great viewing experience extends beyond just the screen, and we're glad you're enjoying the thoughtful design elements.

Thanks for choosing Sony, have a great day!
