Buyer Beware
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just keep in mind this $2,500 TV only has a 1 year warranty, for a reason. 14 months after my purchase a thin vertical line of pixels went out. Sony would not pro-rate or discount a new unit. Don't think because these cost much more that they will last any longer than a bargain brand. I will say the small built in speakers were impressive though. In the future will most likely stick with the $600-$800 units, unless I can find a brand with a decent warranty.

SONY OLED panels can crack on their own

Unfortunately, my $3,200 TV suffered a stress crack while I was watching it. One-minute gorgeous picture and the next vertical white line and the set shuts itself off. Turns out the set had a 1" crack on the top edge. I had a TV repair guy, who has been in the business over 30 years, look at it. He inspected it with lighted magnifying goggles and his diagnose was a defective OLED panel. The set didn't suffer any impact, it just cracked all by itself! Now I have to pay the transfer station to get rid of it. It happened to me and it could happen to you. THE EXTENDED WARRANTEES WON’T COVER THIS TYPE OF DAMAGE EITHER.

Sony has made empty promises.. Lack of common gaming features with know actually date of implementation 2 HDMI 2.1 Ports that only off 1 benefit an Getting charged a Super Premium for a good picture(witch a TV should already have in the $2K+ range) an a backlit remote. There are Just better Bangs for the Buck out there..

Went out after a year of working

No lighting and any other physical damage, just will not power on. Stay away. There was a recent update but not sure if that had anything to do with it.

Does not work with Apple HomeKit or AirPlay
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The software/firmware in this TV is not ready for shipment. Since I received the TV three days ago, I've been unable to connect to it for Apple device screen sharing or via the Home app. While the iOS device is attempting to add the TV, the HomeKit code on the TV screen changes a couple times, then the Home app returns the error, "Unable to Add Accessory", "The setup code is incorrect." A similar issue occurs then trying to use AirPlay. The issue was escalated to Sony level three support, but their advice of consenting to Sony Smart TV services in the Privacy Policy, restarting the TV, waiting two hours, and trying again did not resolve the issue. That section of the Privacy Policy only mentions DRM and does not give any indication that it's required for Apple services. If consent is a problem, then the TV should display that information instead of trying to initiate a connection. It's clear that Sony's software quality assurance (QA) and testing regime falls far short for a product this expensive. To top it off, level three support refused to set a time to meet with me. As I've got a job, this is untenable.

We regret to hear that you're having an issue using Apple Homekit and Apple Airplay. This is definitely not the experience we wanted you to have on our products. We apologize for the inconvenience. The XR65A90J is compatible with AirPlay 2 and HomeKit. iOS 12.2 or later or macOS 10.14.4 or later is required. To use the Apple TV app, AirPlay, and HomeKit, it's required that you enable the Sony Smart TV services via the BRAVIA Privacy Policy. Please follow the steps below to resolve the issue:
1. On the supplied TV remote, press the HELP button.
2. Go to Status & Diagnostics, and select Privacy settings.
3. On the Privacy Policy screen, read the privacy policy, if you agree, scroll down to the very bottom of the policy, and then agree to a minimum of Sony Smart TV services, or select the Agree to all option if you desire.
4. Wait for at least one hour. After an hour, try using the Apple TV app and/or pair your Apple TV devices to the TV using AirPlay.
